  1. Wow. This game is why I love baseball.
  2. The Reds have a lot of RH hitters up so Burton got to start the inning. Perkins is warming up.
  3. Burton is actually pitching right now.
  4. Awesome game. Wish I was there. This is what good baseball looks like.
  5. I'm not trying to say Diamond will have a career path similar to his, but his pitching style and make-up are pretty similar (I think). I used to watch braves games when I was young and Glavine was in his prime. Maybe I'm wrong, but for some reason Diamond makes me think of Glavine.
  6. Why the **** is Doumit not hitting?
  7. How would a Glavine comp for Diamond be? I think Glavine had a few more mph on his fastball and a little better stuff, but I don't think that would be a too far fetched goal for Diamond.
  8. Fool me three times.... and you can't get fooled again.
  9. I doubt it. There are enough guys knocking on the door that having someone come up for a short period wouldn't be detrimental to any of them.
  10. Young player. Like I said with Plouffe when he was making mistakes at SS, the game is much faster and a single mental lapse is magnified.
  11. It doesn't really matter. For the sake of my argument about the ineptitude of the training staff, either way is a strike against them.
  12. I agree, he could have scored with a little better slide. Span is excellent at hitting the corners on slides.
  13. Is it me, or are close plays at the plate awesome? I used to love how aggressive the Twins used to be running the bases to make teams make a perfect throw like Dozier just made. Of course, that was in the dome when they had a ton of speed on the team.
  14. Is this a rhetorical question? Obviously they didn't believe him and made him be a man and try to work through it out there.
  15. If you close your eyes really tight sometimes you can't tell the difference.
  16. I agree with anything you say. Girls on sports message boards confuse me and make me warm inside.
  17. I am not a big fan of JR and don't think he should have ever been given the job back in the first place. RP you are correct, they have drafted some serviceable players. But if they didn't draft any players that can make an MLB roster they would be monumental failures right? I don't think hitting on a few players makes up for missing on so many. Even the drafts after 2008 the only promising arm (which is mostly what I'm referring to) is Gibson. Throw in some potential bullpen arms I guess.
  18. That isn't an excuse for being completely incompetent in the drat! I wish I could swear right now. Whats worse, is the Twins handed the reigns back to the guy that has had very little recent success in the draft. The ability to find talent in the draft(s) is more important now than ever. Players like Liriano aren't given away anymore via trade, GM's and scouting have evolved. This is the biggest problem I have with JR. Not that he can't get good value out of trades or work great within a salary cap, its that his drafts have been poor for 10 years. Until I'm proven otherwise, the Twins will not win until fresh blood is brought into the front office with a new direction. Maybe they are trying that now, but old habits are hard to break.. especially with someone as stubborn as JR.
  19. Can we be done with this thread now?
  20. The big "change" in their mentally included drafting a bunch of college relief arms. Not sure if I'm as enthusiastic about it. The Twins did an alright job, but IMO they missed on some nice picks (including Minnesota HS pitcher Mitch Brown). Obviously, I haven't seen all these guys pitch and don't know the Twins plans for them, but they certainly didn't do a 180 in this draft by any means. Hopefully they plan to convert some of the relief pitchers and the kids have the stuff to do it successfully, but I have my doubts. The Twins haven't drafted an MLB starting pitcher since Garza in 2005.
  21. It's just like making a trade!
  22. That would be kind of weird if I didn't think he would like it....
