  1. Ken Rosenthal Sources: #Rays vice president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom among candidates for #Twins’ leadership position. More info on Bloom from mlbtraderumors
  2. He wouldn't stand a chance in a Republican primary (not that you're arguing any differently). But as much as we can acknowledge the validity of conservatism in American politics and find real people who embody the best parts of those values, the Republican base is still what it is--people that think Trump-as-president is a good idea--and I imagine it will become further entrenched no matter the result of the election, rather than lesser so.
  3. I think Obama has spoiled us a bit with transparency with what he inherited, but still lacking compared to his campaign promises and we ought to get. That said, Obama, as much controversy as there seems there was while he was president, seems to be well liked these days (perhaps in relief to his successors).
  4. This isn't a surprise, exactly. But given that the discussion of Clinton is shaded with, well, shade, let's at least put the email issue a bit into perspective.
  5. If they had TVs in the Northern Kingdom you wouldn't say that, my friend.
  6. Confirmation bias is my favorite bias.
  7. Pneumonia kills a million people? Okay, how many of those aren't already elderly or auto-immune definition or impoverished. Pneumonia is totally treatable, and it's sloppy to suggest otherwise. Imagine coming down with freaking pneumonia after your opponent has shamelessly and without merit questioned your health? Do you really question the strategy of not being eager to disclose it? This kind of piecemeal criticism of Clinton is, well, whack. No other politician get this scrutiny (really). And everyone continues to shrug at the accusations of misogyny, but continue to be eager to add up the half-truths as total truths. Honestly, just quit it. We should be talking about how Trump can't admit that David Duke is deplorable, not pneumonia-disclosure gate.
  8. They'd screen McCleod before presenting him to the people that hired them (Pohlad) for sure. At least I'd hoped there would be a series of interviews (etc.) before a hire.
  9. Isn't President of Baseball Operations a bit made up though? As to game the system, and get current GMs to believe they've somehow gained a promotion through changing teams? If McLeod is the best available; he's the best available. He's probably intimately familiar with the array of upper front office decision making. In any case, Mcleod's hire as GM wouldn't preclude a second hire of Baseball Operations, say AA or Cherington...
  10. I don't know why this is so funny to me.
  11. So how do you feel about pitch to contact, bunting to get on base, and DHs in the outfield? And isn't that hall-of-famer Paul Molitor a hell of guy?
  12. Yup, Trump has just mainstreamed being an internet troll.
  13. Are you sure they lied? I'm not positive on the timeline, but it's possible that her pneumonia diagnosis was fairly recent (two days ago). Here's what her Doctor had to say: “Secretary Clinton has been experiencing a cough related to allergies. On Friday, during follow up evaluation of her prolonged cough, she was diagnosed with pneumonia. She was put on antibiotics, and advised to rest and modify her schedule. While at this morning’s event, she became overheated and dehydrated. I have just examined her and she is now re-hydrated and recovering nicely.” Pneumonia is an infection, not a disease; I'm not sure the campaign announcing the infection upon its diagnosis would have fared any better in the media. There's some shady stuff Clinton might be guilty of, but this probably isn't one of them.
  14. Pneumonia is not a real health issue which would preclude presidential service. Jesus.
  15. Framing. Only four walks and a double in three innings, wow!
  16. The silver lining of Twins Daily's constant stream of bad news (of the Twins own making). Thanks for your thoroughness and consistency.
  17. I wonder if Cherington and McLeod could work together. They both worked under Theo, and a move to President and GM, respectively, would represent a promotion for both.
  18. I suppose since Arcia has been waived a few times; we need another a horse in rooting against the Twins recent transactions race. I'm glad Meyer is getting another chance, but he's a September call up, who was already on the 40-man, entering his final option year. It's probably more of due diligence in assessing Meyer, than Meyer earning a promotion with one four inning success story at AAA.
  19. Instagraphs take on Buxton's leg kick.
  20. Nor is he going to be harmed by waiting three days, or another week or even until next year. It's simply more interesting baseball to watch new, different, younger players preform poorly I suppose.
  21. 1) That's not a fact; that's speculation. 2) Maybe, but Walker can be added in three days or after the season at Rochester. It's pretty common for teams to wait until affiliate's seasons to end before promoting them. Did the evaluation of Berrios and Buxton mean that they aren't part of the future, no? Will the loss of a few major league at bats for Walker determine whether he is part of the future, no? I don't think it's any sure bet Walker gets called up after the Rochester season ends. Walker, like Palka, strikes out a ton at AAA; there may be good reason for not exposing him at this time. If the recent lack of success of highly regarded prospects demonstrates anything it's that you don't simply throw guys out there to see what you have. Throwing spit against the wall and seeing if it sticks is not a viable strategy; let's hope the next regime is more thoughtful than many are asking the Twins to be here.
  22. No, Goin was asking for specific examples of what they should be doing that they were not doing; he was not asking for more examples of mistakes (of which there are many). I think it's pretty obvious that the fanbase wouldn't be thrilled with promoting Schafer over the youngsters; I doubt anyone in the front-office would have a "now I get it" moment by point this out as a mistake (and really, it's debatable if it is one).
  23. I think a lot of the recent moves have to do with putting young players in a position to help Rochester compete for the playoffs. I'm not sure how much sense that makes, but throwing the young guys out there wasn't working either.
  24. Right. I don't condone it (at all), but like you say it doesn't quite add up to Hillary Clinton the person being paid by foreign entities to curry political favor. It's the typical Clinton scandal in that there's no there there of actual wrong doing. All this would be damaging if Trump could capitalize on it without making news himself. His comments on immigration (deportation police flip flop stuff) has been getting more attention than this story has. I heard on NPR on the drive home that the Clinton Foundation is divesting itself of (or spinning off, whatever that means) all it's foreign donations/relationships. Something they should have done long, long ago.
  25. Source? I've seen articles on the improper communications between the State and the Clinton foundation, but nothing amounting to such an allegation...
