  1. Yes. This was a travesty of rules over common sense http://cincinnati.re...2&vkey=news_cin
  2. Pena and K. Johnson should also get a trial in the bullpen.
  3. I hate this thread. I hated it last year and I hate it this year. The Twins should win EVERY game they possibly can, regardless of how it affects their 2015 draft position. I hate the idea that the Twins would do anything but put out the best possible lineup for every game and demand that all their players should play their best, every game. If I ever thought that Gardy manipulated his lineup or pitching rotation in order to lose a game, I would be screaming for the Twins to remove ALL management and Front Office staff.
  4. This is a warning for Joe Mauer. Tiger Woods withdraws from a Golf Tournament due to a back injury, Come back too soon OR don't do your back therapy OR don't do everyday things the right way = You will re-injure your back. We may have seen the last of the excellent Joe Mauer, baseball player.
  5. When Santana comes to the plate I don't anticipate, I just watch and enjoy. When balls are hit to CF, I unconsciously hold my breath (as I do with all our outfielders). Isn't Baseball wonderful ? The most important thing about Santana's future is that he is sandwiched between Eduardo Escobar's excellent SS play this season and the progress of Jorge Polanco. Which of the 3 will be the Twins shortstop in the future is unpredictable and will be one of the keys to the Twins future success. What if Escobar continues to hit respectably? Should Santana take over at SS ? Would he field better? Escobar has proved to be a descent utility player. Who plays CF? (Please don't say Hicks!) What if Polanco proves to be a superior fielder and hitter ? Where does Santana play? What happens to Escobar? Assume that Dozier is the 2nd baseman and becomes the Gold Glover he has shown he can be. What happens to the loser of the SS battle ? Trade chips, anybody ?
  6. A back injury requires serious lifestyle changes to recover. Mauer needs to do the work necessary to prevent recurring pain. This may include changes to his batting stance and swing. A healthy Joe Mauer is always a Twins asset, regardless of what position he is playing.
  7. Eddie Rosario was the lead-off hitter tonight and went 1-5. He had not played since Monday, July 28. Does anyone know the reason why he was not playing ?
  8. Purpose: To prevent runners from taking advantage of the current blocking rule when they are clearly not going to be safe at the plate. If a throw from a fielder is caught by the catcher before the runner is within1 stride of the catcher, the runner is automatically called out (like the infield fly rule.) The runner (if he continues) is obligated NOT to collide with the catcher even if the catcher is blocking the pathway by taking the throw. If the runner reverses and tries to reach 3rd base, normal rundown rules will apply. What do you think ?
  9. I don't know whether I should laugh or cry. This has all the looks of an ugly, ugly game.
  10. So what ? Prospect lists are for grins and giggles only.
  11. We have 2 months to go. Nobody seems to want the Twins to pitch Correia or bat Willingham. Let them play for 2 more weeks in the hopes of getting something for them in Trades. Correia had a quality start. If he gets 2 more in a row, the Twins can sit him down and other Teams will understand what they are getting. The same goes for Willingham, who has an .864 OPS since the All-Star Game. Of course, nobody would want to sit them if the Twins were to go on a massive win streak and be relevant for a Wild Card spot. We have 2 months. Parmalee, Dozier, Plouffe, Escobar, Santana and Arcia must be in the lineup every day. 2 months could make a big difference in their overall stats. Mauer needs to be handled VERY carefully. Anybody that has a bad back knows how much it affects everything in your life. Mauer needs to be super diligent to do the things necessary to heal his back. If he does his back exercises, therapy & changes the way he does every day things to avoid another strain, it will make a big difference to the Twins in 2015. Unless the Twins go on the previously mentioned winning streak, there is no reason to push Mauer. However the Twins juggle the roster, the Twins will need to be flexible with their rotation. There is no reason to give Darnell another start in 2014. Meyers and/or May should only be brought in to get their feet wet. Pitch Pino & Johnson until they eliminate themselves from contention. Forget Nolasco for 2014. The Twins will get their money's worth in 2015,2016 & 2017.
  12. According to http://www.baseballreference.com Eduardo Nunez 27 5 Traded 2.117 SFX 1 yr/$577k (14) $576.9k 2015 Arb-1 2016 Arb-2 2017 Arb-3 2018 FA
  13. Hicks = 10 dollar tools and 10 cent maturity. Everyone seems to forget that the Twins did NOT give up on Gomez. They traded him for JJ Hardy, a proven major league shortstop. Blame Smith that Hardy was given away for nothing.
  14. in the TD Roster & Payroll there is no indication that the Twins have any control over Nunez for 2015, or am I reading it wrong ?
  15. I hate that Logan Darnell gets a start tonight. I would hate the extra game between starts for Hughes and Gibson. Although I didn't like the signing of Correia and hated watching his labored starts. He is what was advertised. He was a solid #5 starter. Hughes, Gibson, Milone, Pino and Johnson is good enough. to finish it out. We just had 3 quality starts and one win against light-hitting KC. The problem is with the bats, not the arms.
  16. Thank you Parker. Your earlier article has strongly affected my attitude towards Suzuki this season. http://twinsdaily.com/articles.html/_/minnesota-twins-news/minnesota-twins/kurt-suzuki-makes-changes-at-the-plate-r2553 Every season sees a couple older players rethink their batting approach and have continued success into their mid to late 30's. (see Cuddyer last year, time will tell how he will be after his injury.) Suzuki doesn't try to do too much. He has been a consistent bat at the back end of the Twins batting order. His ability to handle pitchers should not diminish with age. He can be a mentor to Pinto & Hermann. It is good for a young player to watch good catching as well as listening to the wisdom of the coaches. If Suzuki can maintain his better batting average and on base percentage he can also be an example for the young hitters as well.
  17. Remember when Vargas got out of his 50 day suspension and was added to the Beloit team with Sano & Rosario? Who would have thought he would be the first to join the Twins?
  18. per mlb channel. Suzuki is extended
  19. per K.Rosenthal & mlb.com = Suzuki stays
  20. Pino the catcher would kill the Twins starters if they can't trust that low breaking balls will be blocked or that runners will not be thrown out or that close pitches will not be framed properly. What will the Twins do for a catcher in 2015 ?
  21. https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/mlb-trade-deadline-tracker--follow-all-the-deals-here-072337796.html This is another good place to keep track of what is the latest. yahoo trade tracker
  22. I'm staying on mlb channel all day. and staying in this chat. More laughs than Comedy Central
  23. Twins good luck = Twins sign Suzuki and he has a career year. Twins bad luck = Twins sign Suzuki and he has a career year so u have to resign him at his peak price. and the Twins need him for 2015. Pinto is taking about 40% of his AAA at bats as a DH. Maybe he will never catch better than Doumit.
  24. Tommy Milone to the Twins for Fuld !!! That changes things for Meyer and May. This changes things for next year. Nolasco, Hughes, Gibson, Milone, Meyer, May not to mention Pelfrey, Pino & Johnson. Pinto gets a lot of AAA at bats as DH. Pinto the catcher may not be more than a backup. Pinto the DH may have to slug it out with Vargas.
  25. mlb channel says that a contract extension for Suzuki is highly possible.
