  1. Could be......... and has a better chance to not be, as all prospects. Good for the Royals. Give me back the days of trading pros for pros, instead of hopes and dreams.
  2. In answer to the headline question......... definitely. Most definitely. But then, what else is new?
  3. And the Twins lose out on another solution. Disappointing. All the details aren't in yet, but folks saying that it would take a monster haul to get him seem a bit over estimated.
  4. Rosario goes 3 for 4, and is then is out of the line up for Shane Robinson! The great cooler. It happens all the time. Thanks Eddie.... now ride some pine. I don't know that the lefty righty thing is good in light of a hot batter. The Twins need every advantage they can get, and hot batters are one of them.
  5. I would love to have Tulo on this team, and get over the hope of Santana or Escobar and Polanco. I have been pushing for it all year, and taken the "experts disdain". Time to stop being cheap, and redundant with prospects, and grab a tried and true pro. TULO TULO TULO! Nice to see the wagon letting the band play now.
  6. Albertin Aroldis (de la Cruz) Chapman...... he is on the market..... why not go big?
  7. It seems the only thing that keeps Stewart in the conversation is the fact that pundits predicted him to be good, so they can't feel different as he moves so very slowly up the ladder, and the strikeouts that were a big part of the original opinion and bet on - are virtually nonexistent. All the while, his upside is becoming more and more obtuse and getting fuzzy. Meanwhile, guys like Wacha (#17, 2012, the Buxton year) and Sonny Gray (#18, 2011) are examples of lower draft picks that let college ball sort it out much better than the minor leagues seem to for many. Just how does one "turn on the strikeout"? Wouldn't that be a nice switch for just about every pitcher that pitches to have. Come on, team, turn on the strikeout!
  8. So, if a daughter named Forget-Me-Not is born in a family that is named Washington Senators grows up and gets married to a man from the Minnesota Twins family and changes her name to Forget-Me-Not Minnesota Twins and moves to Minnesota with her husband......... would she no longer be part of her Washington Senators family and just part of the Minesota Twins family forever more? Or would Forget-Me-Not Minnesota Twins still embrace her history, even though her named was changed and she just moved to a different town?
  9. Good for Dozier! Does this mean he has 20 homers at the All-Star break? Perkins was getting tagged! No missing bats at all. Lucky they didn't have a one run lead. Must be the no save situation and lack of focus, eh? Who would you rather have as a closer? Perkins.... or Chapman?
  10. I guess I look at it as I am still me if I move from South Dakota to Canada to Virginia to California, and my family is still my family. Walter Johnson is part of this franchise, very definitely, and I didn't see him play either, and was even born 9 years after he was dead. I just figured Twins' fans were more than regular/average fans. I like to think of them as astute, and that is why it surprises me that 70 of the 124 years of franchise history is not embraced. To me, it is like ignoring ones family and roots.
  11. I too was disappointed in the Twins' fan base for not Including Walter Johnson. I guess many under 40 are not into the history of the game very much. I really thought our fan base was more aware than the final vote. I had Harmon as my #1, Big Train as my #2, Puckett #3, Carew #4, and Tony Oliva didn't make the cut. I was also very surprised that Johnny Bench was in the top 4 of "The Greatest Living Players Franchise Four". I didn't even see where I could have voted for that! No Nolan Ryan? Seriously? Ryan got a nod from three teams he played for - Angels, Astros, and Rangers - and is the living and the all time strikeout (5714 to second place Randy Johnson's 4875!) and no-hitter (7 to second place Koufax's 4) record setter, dead or alive. Nolan Ryan should have been one of the 4.
  12. Sliding late, or sliding early...... neither seems to be working for the so called speedy Minnesota Twins. Our catchers can't throw runners out, and our runners can't steal. I know that is a generalization, but that is how it seems. In the last few games, even though we won with plenty of offense, we lost several runs and outs because of caught stealings.
  13. This is not true. As a 5 year guy, Texas is still on the hook for his salary that they are contracted for, minus the prorated minimum that the team that signs him pays. This was a no brainer. Perhaps Feliz still was able to pick what team he would go to, and saw the Tigers as a better option to win than the Twins?
  14. Really surprised that the Twins didn't get Feliz. Instead, he takes out the Twins today. With all the scrap heap pitchers that Ryan has signed, this is a real reclaimation that could be one of the best, and it would have been for very cheap. Baffling to me why Ryan let the Tigers get him instead of the Twins.
  15. And the runs Price gave up weren't even earned. Good luck for the Twins had the game tied. A Tiger fan could say that the game should have been 4-0, and 2-0 in the eighth. I look at it as the offense didn't step up, and all game. This team really needs to score 5 runs a game to win consistently, especially with the bullpen. I think each game stands on it's own, and you can only compare the starters that started for that game. Even Price gets bombed at times.
  16. Pelfrey needs to make one pitch, and get one more strike, and then Molitor made a great decision. 2 out, and a 2-2 count on Kinsler. Instead, Pelfrey hung another sinker, served another meatball to Kinsler, and the game turned. All night Pelfrey was giving up a lead off hit (5 out of 8 innings), and this 8th was no exception. Hicks missed the tough catch in the 8th (he has made a lot tougher catches) that would have changed the game a bit, (and Gose was the go ahead run....) and Pelfrey still had only one strike to get to get out of yet another inning. But he hung another sinker to the same guy that homered on the second pitch of the game that was also right down Broadway. Pelfrey needs to make that pitch. Price was the best of the night in the 8th, and with 10 more pitches at the start of the inning than Pelfrey. Price made the pitches to Sano and Hunter and Nunez - got 'em all with a change. Pelfrey needs to make those pitches, too. Pelfrey's ERA will soon be over 5 for the season, I think, even though he started so well. This is Pelfrey. 3 years of hope and people are still hoping. But this is Pelfrey, not Price.
  17. I wouldn't have done it then - hated both trades - and I certainly wouldn't do it now.
  18. Arcia's homer in the ninth was not a grand slam. It was a 3 run homer that was a walk-off, but not a grand slam.
  19. Thompson's ERA over his last 15 games is 10.57. Forget lefty/lefty. He can't get anybody out. Boyer's ERA over the last 15 games is 3.75 and the last 7 games is 4.50. Thompson is used up. Boyer is on his way quickly. I guess I just have higher expectations of relief, and that it is supposed to be what is means, instead of giving away games. I sure hate to see great starts wasted, but that is just an much on the anemic, streaky offense as it is on the blowpen. I do not understand the love Molitor gives Thompson by continuing to put him in in these situations.
  20. It would be very painful watch Mientkiewicz manage and win elsewhere. It could be another move like keeping Brad Childress when you just could have promoted the future Super Bowl winning Mike Tomlin in house.
  21. Yikes! It doesn't look like any other team is knocking on Gardenhire's door. Joe Maddon - clubs were pounding. I think that says a lot. Doug Mientkiewicz still gets my vote. I hope Molitor is succesful, but wants to retire after a couple few years. I think youth and savvy is needed with this generation of players. (I understand that Maddon is 61). I look forward to younger managers.
  22. Twins limit for the year = 3,948,500 INTERNATIONAL BONUS POOL PENALTIES Overage 0-4.99%.......100% tax on overage 5-9.99%.......100% tax on overage no bonus over $500,000 in next period 10-14.99%...100% tax on overage no bonus over $300,000 in next period 15%+ .......100% tax on overage no bonus over $300,000 in next two periods My bet is the signing bonus reported is the limit and it is rounded up to 4 million.
  23. Pelfrey is done with the Twins after this season. Pelfrey's future could very well be in the bullpen. Maybe. Santana can help the Twins perhaps win an unexpected post season birth, but he cannot pitch in the postseason. Berrios may be better than all of them. Pelfrey is almost back to a 4 ERA, and I truly expect him to be at around 5 before the season ends if he keeps starting. When he is good, it is surprising. When he is bad... he is absolutely horrid. I still have a hard time forgetting the last two years, and my vote is to let Pelfrey help the pen, if he can.
  24. I think there is a big difference between being the 5th best team in the AL, and having the 5th best W-L record in the AL, even at the moment.
