And it is not just Julien. We watch guys on opposing teams swing at pitches out of the zone that they like (like Olson's 3-run homer off the plate inside) while our guys are infected with waiting for the perfect pitch. But even more than that. They often don't even offer at the perfect pitch, because they it is too early in the count. They are looking for walks and help from the umpire, that can never be counted on. I miss baseball where players wanted to drive a runner in more than walk.

Hard to stay interested in this team, these days. Strangers and dumpster dives to watch. Sad end and sad start to the 2024 season. The team sure was fun in the weeks before the all star break, though. Just a couple weeks ago, the best record in MLB was 21 games over .500, and the Twins were at 17. Thiings sure get dark quick, when you lose so many games you had in the bag. This is perfect, regarding Tonkin, if you like comedy. "None of his four offerings misses bats the way you want a relief pitcher's out pitch to do so, and both versions of his fastball are a little underheated, sitting 91-94 and touching only a tick higher............ This is the kind of pickup the team has been craving......"

Too bad Margot couldn't pinch hit, eh? All his numbers, except pinch hitting, show he is the guy, right Baldelli? May as well ignore the managing and go with the stat sheets again, and hope your batters learn to hit oppo arms ........ somewhere else, I guess. This team is sure choking big time. And it isn't even the playoffs. When they choke this bad, one tends to forget how horrible the umpire calls balls and strikes.

If a fan is really honest with themselves, didn't you expect the team to panic and choke down the stretch? I mean, one hopes not, and wants the pen to be the best bullpen in MLB (especially the writers), but I really didn't think this wouldn't happen. So many ways they are just blowing games these last losses. Not just the pen (who are the worst in MLB lately). The plays in the field, the choices on the bases...... Hang on. The Royals are poised to pass this team again. Time to wake up, and for Correa to feel the pain and earn his money. Nick says this is an elite team. Really? Elite?

Padres 5, Twins 3: Zebby Matthews Makes His Own Mess
h2oface replied to Nate Palmer's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Makes we wonder what it takes for the Margot ineptitude when pinch hitting overrides all the rest of the platoon left right BS Baldelli and FO is using to justify continuing to have him pinch hit. A MLB baseball manager would probably use his override at some point, like at least 15 opportunities ago. -
Plus........ Alcala could have had a problem with his fingers, or his arm, or his groin, or his hammy or or or.......and been removed because of injury, or suspected injury, and then the reliever gets all the time he needs to warm-up on the pitchers mound! Pretty simple, really.

I wish our offense would hit to the game like Jack Morris would pitch to the game. Funny how I was almost expecting a Grand Slam from Lewis with the bases juiced. That was the moment to pounce. Cleveland just keeps winning since they took the last two of our series. Winning the series is great, but time is running out. I sure hope Duran can become dominant again. Seems like very batter is making some contact against him during their at bats.

Absolutely. Never backhands. And with sitting on his ass style, can’t move fast enough to. Over and over. Doesn’t help him throw to second, either. -

Yes. Two years ago it truly was. But even last year, and certainly this year, even with the pitches and velocity he has, almost every batter, even if they don’t get hits, make some contact against him. And a lot of good contact, even if it is foul. K rate way down. Why is that? I hope Duran and the staff figure it out. At this point, he is a crap shoot. Definitely no where close to a sure thing. Definitely no where close to Clase. Duran struggling in non save/lower pressure situations? Duran is struggling in tie game and save situations. But hey, we got Richards now! -
It is inexcusable that every MLB batter can't bunt great. They have months off each year to do it. Access a batting cage, set the pitches slow, speed them up, AND LEARN HOW TO BUNT GREAT! I can't remember what stud it was on the other team that bunted against us in a situation like this (Yelich, I think) and won the game for them. No excuse whatsoever. Especially a guy like Castro who has speed. But even a plodder like Larnach can lay a well placed bunt and drive in a run while he gets thrown out.

FO has forced themselves to have no pitching. Even when they have had the opportunity to go for the current draft's best, they never do. Hunter Greene. Yeah, I know who they picked instead. That's not the point. They are not forced to do anything. They do it because they think they are so much smarter and it will finally sometime probably work out. I hope it does before some of us are dead. Hype means nothing. Predictive stats don't win games. No reason not to expect the prospects to excel. Some do right away. After all, the FO claims they know pitching. It is one thing to be so chest puffing proud about your low picks, and another for the MLB staff to actually show they were smart. Maybe it will come.

That is just not true. Julian won't always be the best choice, but he certainly has had times he definitely was, and I will bet some team, if not the Twins, will see it again. Never is just a silly word to use (and I could even say stupid, but I won't), and it is hardly ever true.

"Tanner Bibee was nails," It is all too easy to say the pitcher was so great, when this offense (and that is considering how good it can look in blowouts) just doesn't get the job done. I have seen, and so have we all, this offense make a pitcher with a 6+ ERA or more look like a Cy Young candidate. Bibee wasn't that good, he just faced an offense (except for Buxton) being inept for this game.

Thielbar has a game or 2 that he doesn't suck, and at this point, gets lucky that the opposing team doesn't take advantage. But that is fools mica. Get rid of him. All year. Should have been during ST. Just get rid of him. It really is a travesty to keep this happening . All set of for Castro. And Larnach. Hell, two bunts with the bases loaded and the score could have been tied.

"Castro is a super utility player in the fact that he can play solid defense all over the dirt and the grass and produce a .748 OPS and get elected to an All Star game." Castro didn't get elected to the all-star game. Castro was a replacement selection, an appointed/selected choice of the commissioner's office to replace injured Altuve. That is a ton different than being elected. And Correa was also a commissioner's office pick as the mandatory selection of at least one player from each team. When Correa was hurt, Castro was helped to get the nod. It is likely that being a commissioner's office selection is the only way Correa will ever be selected to the All-Star game, as the players certainly will never elect him as a sub, and unlikely the fans for any team other than Houston or Minnesota will forget, either.

Doesn't Farmer need another 30 days in the rehab? What? He reinjured the injury? Damn. I guess we just have to wait longer.
