  1. Hardly "relief". Time for Alcala. The towel is getting ready. And this against a dormant offense. Is Topa the new right handed Funderburk?
  2. Well, folks like to talk about the "pitching pipeline". We are going to see if it delivers hot or cold. I'll believe it when the results in the Show show it.
  3. Harry Dean Stanton with another great character, Brain (Harold 'Brain' Hellman), in Escape from NY.
  4. Even when it goes our way I get sick of bad umpiring.
  5. Ha. Only a big deal because of someone needed distraction and deflection. Things are worse when the Dodgers or Lakers win a championship. Tragic bit of history unfolding,
  6. Because I have such power and Wallner heard me from Los Angeles..........
  7. Tough break for SWR needing to get the extra out and unearned run scoring.
  8. Buxton's defense since the concussion on several occassions has been uncharacteristic. He sure seems to be seeing the ball OK at the plate, however. Ironic that Correa missed the next hot grounder right after all the gushing about him. Overcame that one, though.
  9. What? What about the suggestions of all the trades possible? I know they're coming.......
  10. Seriously? We are talking about complex video equipment to call balls and strikes more accuratey than the human eye attached to human emotions, feelings, moods, and pride! Or at least, I am. So no, no robots on the field of any kind. You are one of those umpires, by your own description and words. Nothing more to be said. By all means, keep having your fun. Sorry to have engaged.
  11. Yup. Thanks for confirming my points. I rest my case. Once the retorts go to robot players, it is hopeless. Thank you.
  12. I did and have. Several levels and testings, etc. That is why I say..... they try to do their best, but they just can't. It is always a guess, Absolutely it is not easy. Almost impossible. But so many I met are real power trippers. They say it is because they love the game, but it really feeds their need to have a bit of power somewhere somehow. Arrogant power trippers. The only reason umpires existed in the first place was that was the best option. A suppossed impartial third party. Now we have better options. We still need them, but in a more administrative capacity, especially calling balls and strikes. They don't let "umpires" call the wall in a swim meet or the finish line in track or horse racing...... because there is a better more accurate option, especially at the professional level. It is pathetic that MLB continues to not progress on something so important and relatively simple that will improve the game and give it back to the players more. The players are the human element, it should not be the umpire. Being sick of them is not hating, and not a F the umpires. They try to do their best......but they just can't. It damages the truist outcome of every game played. Not their fault. They are human and can just guess from horrible angles and speed, and the optic nerve only fires so fast. And I like to watch "moving pictures". Where would we be if that was not the case? The speed of our human transmission allows for a set of pictures to be perceived as motion and for some things, like movies, it is great, but not so much for umpiring, espeically in 2025. Hell, since 2005.
  13. The thing is, other teams do it to us all the time, and we too often make them look like the next MLB ace!
  14. 13-20 before “the streak”. 8-10 after. 16-23 >.500 Without the streak, a sad 21-30 team. . The 36 million dollar man had a chance to earn his $ today with the bases loaded And too bad Clemens didn’t pick the 4th to hit his homer instead of grounding into a double play with one out Royce said he “found Royce again” yesterday I hope today doesn’t mean he lost Royce again
  15. So sick of umpires. They try to do their best but they just can’t. They have ruined so many outcomes, we will never know what should have been.
  16. They have been. I saw a pop-up today that he was hitting over .400 against lefthanders. I just wish he could field the position better. That fly to right he just lumbered over and gave up on was certainly catchable tonight, and resulted in the runs starting Now under .500 since the streak, again. 8-9. Ober giving up 5 shows how important the pitching is to win games with this middling offense. Update: Not that many at bats. Now 3-9 against lefties for the year. .333 in a very small sample size. 2 doubles, 1 homer, and 3 BBs. 5 Ks but .500 OBP. But that earns him more in my book.
  17. I agree. Also could have easily been swept, as the one we won was the most unlikely outcome of the 3, eh?
  18. You love to dream up a trade of players that are in a role that make this team worth watching now, for someone(s) who won't.
  19. And that was against the Tigers, Mets and White Sox. 64, 76, and 84 pitches. 4.2, 4.1 and 4 innings. Only gave up 2 earned and that was to the White Sox when he walked three (and none actually scored while he was on the mound - thank you, Sands). 19, 19 and 18 batters. Baldelli Ball. He was lucky to see 2 total batters for the 3rd time, even when pitching like an MLB pitcher 😇. That was when not coming back from arm fatigue. Today 80, 3.2, and 19. He did real well those first 3 starts. I guess the Athletics were due to win a game, eh?
  20. I agree. Isn't bad. Isn't good. The very definition of a .500 team. Middle of the road. Like kissing your sister? The better teams have winning records on the road, too. Lots of time to do better and get in the playoffs. Or do worse and not. Lopez out for 3 months I bet. We will see if this so called pitching pipeline is more than hype.
