  1. My wife’s value has never been higher. Hmmmmm And the kids…….? I know it is a crap shoot, but does my team deserve players at their supposed highest value? Or cheap uncertain hope and dreams at much lower value?
  2. #1 risk: A player atually gets to try to be who he wants to be. Imagine that.
  3. I think that is just silly. The reality is that the FO abslolutely saw it as a possibiliity, and that is the very reason they drafted him out of Mississippi State with the 35th overall pick after he absolutely crushed his last college season, and most of the posters on TD also saw it as a possibility and praised the draft pick, as most do with any new high pick, gushing with optimism and hope. And Rooker certainly did. That is why he plays baseball. The Twins misdiagnosed, and bet on the wrong guys in all their wisdom, and traded Rooker. It doesn't really matter what the fans think, ever, because they are never part of the decision. The FO missed another one (and so did SD and KC), and we are still looking and hoping.
  4. The pitchers are all being groomed in the style of clipboard stats through the whole organization. These are Falvey pitchers now, whether he drafted them, traded for them, inherited them (some 7 years ago?) or signed them as free agents and let the pitching coaches get their mits on them. He will tell you the solution is in the clubhouse over and over and over. This is what it is and will be as long as this is the system pitchers are forced to pitch in. They can't hold runners, they can't perform in the clutch, they usually aren't allowed to pitch deep even if they are killing it, and they don't seem to improve, in general (a very limited amount of exceptions), but get worse the longer they are in the system. I don't expect it to change.
  5. 1 correct Actually not bad. We traded the ROY away for Jake Cave. Another great move Lopez. What a disappointment.
  6. We will, without doubt, enter the 2025 season with, once again, the best bullpen in MLB! Just keep repeating and it will become fact.
  7. Gil to NY in 2018 for Jake Cave after Cave was DFA'd! And now it takes Correa to get him back? Swift move, eh? From the pitching identifiers!
  8. Writers love to say stuff like “2 years younger than the average player in the league.” to try to make unimpressive performance more palatable. If 25 is the average age in AA ball, that means he, at 23, is worse than players that mostly are minor league lifers, and will never see the show. Is that really a plus?
  9. With all the articles about getting rid of our best players, it feels like very few really like their team. I guess that fits right in with the FO and ownership. I can understand it though. This team proved to have no backbone as they barely finished above .500.
  10. "Trading Bailey Ober or Joe Ryan would not be a comfortable move, and maybe not a popular one. But as we think of the challenges and constraints that lie before the front office, these are the kinds of moves we're going to need to view within the realm of realistic possibilities. I'd almost say the odds are better than not that one gets dealt." Just sell and move the damn team. Seems that writers and FO employees don't care about people anyway. All are just a piece of chattel to them, apparently. Teams don't ever get better by getting rid of the best players. 5 years down the road? Maybe? Hardly counts in my book.
  11. Or he is very highly valued, as teams always want to trade for him! What it really shows, is there are a lot of incompetent executives hired by MLB teams who think they are smarter than most, but the results rarely lead to successful teams. And a lot of writers that will write stories about ridiculous moves, that also feel they are smarter than most.
  12. "The Twins do some nice things with their Twitter account, which expresses a fun personality and engages in various ways with the denizens of “Twins Twitter.”" If the marketers (and writers) are catering to the Twits on Twitter, there is a real problem, especially since there hasn't been a Twitter for a long time now...... and there is less and less using what is left.
  13. Or at least the first 30K. Even the Dodgers, don't risk a silly surplus. Better that way, too, for Ebay etal. But I get your point. DON'T BE A CHEAP OWNER!
  14. So……. twice as bad. Please tell me you are not inferring two wrongs make bad calls more tolerable.
  15. I hope the second paragraph does as well! The most important. MLB teams are not a regular business.
  16. If the Pohlads were smart, they would sell the team and take the money and use it to make more of their precious fortune in a different "business". And sell it to a guy that has even more money, and wants to have fun and doesn't need it to be a "business" of this sort, and makes it a hobby to have fun with until he dies....... and spends for enjoyment, and to win.
  17. Duran wants to start, too. Throw him in the trade. Duran and Jax will both go to free agency, and then sign with a team that will let them do what they want with their life. And it will probably be a playoff team, unlike ours.
  18. When each year's all-star selections are based on about 12 weeks of a season only, and only hot starts, it is really ridiculous. But you can't really make up your own rules. Or maybe you feel you can. Correa will only ever probably be selected by his teammates or former teammates. The rest of the players really will not ever forgive him. The fans, like you are a fan, are smarter than, I think, you give them credit for, but many are maniacs and vote soooooo many times, which is also ridiculous. I don't even vote anymore. Can't get into it when each person can vote so many times, and I don't have time for that. The fact is, Correa was the best the twins had to offer, at the time, and they are required to pick someone. He was not one of the best 3 shortstops in the AL, even so. A mandatory pick. Compared to the best options in the league at the time, he was still not worth the all-star title, or he would have been selected the other ways. If you are given the spot on the team, it hardly means you earned it, in my book, which was the direct question. Same with Castro. Cuddyer. Suzuki. etc etc...... Fair? Life is rarely fair, eh?
  19. Are appointments by the commissioners office to be a mandatory member from a team that the fans and players didn't want any player from really "earned"? Or is that type of All-star appointment (and injury replacement of another player to replace a mandatory pick that is not going to play because of injury) a gift?
  20. I really don't care about the trade. A writer is allowed to have fun and write. But I can read, and you might want to re-read a bit..... "No. 27 overall prospect in baseball, according to FanGraphs."
  21. Great summary. 6-7 wasted money. at least 5-7, as some were enamored by Romo. 7-7 if you consider how horrible Perkins was at the end of his last season. Twins fans get excited about some pretty pedestrian results. They really strain to elevate some players sometimes with hope that they can be better.
  22. Cowardly. Falvey makes everyone manage and coach this way, and when the results suck, it is the fault of the guys they picked. But it is the philosophy that stinks. If your coaches suck, in mass, then it is the guy that hired them all that should go with them. Falvey and Baldelli are in arrogant denial. And Watkins not fired? I guess Falvey and Levine don’t watch the games, either.
  23. Well, I know what I like. These days, WAR lovers will be WAR lovers, I guess, and define worth through those special WAR glasses.. I do hope that a top of the rotation pitcher standard for all Twins fans will become better than a 4 career ( and this season) ERA pitcher. This season, again, of course, it wasn’t.
