  1. Pitching brought to you by the brilliance of Falvey and Baldelli is officially brain dead. Mr Throw The Game Away. Baldelli always has a deeper bottom.
  2. I hope they saved some runs for the close games.......... Gotta keep wining, because KC and Cleveland just keep rolling.
  3. K rate down to 37%...... and that is supposed to be promising? .429 BABIP means that things are bound to get a lot worse. Especially coupled with a K rate that is still really really horrible. We will see. I hope not.
  4. Sometimes we see and think what we want, regardless whether it is true. In fact, it happens a lot these days. I wish it was Sonny we extended. But then, he spoke his mind and told the truth. Or, our guys would have had the conviction and foresight to trade for/sign Chris Sale. Somebody had to guess right, and it was Anthopoulos and Atlanta. They even got Boston to pay for the first year. Quite a cunning move. And pretty damn cheap, all and all. https://www.cbsnews.com/boston/news/chris-sale-contract-atlanta-braves-boston-red-sox-trade/ But let's not get sidetracked. 2023 Cy Young Award balloting, Gerrit Cole, NYY: 30 1st-place votes, unanimous -- 210 points Sonny Gray, MIN: 20 (2nd), 6 (3rd), 3 (4th) -- 104 points Kevin Gausman, TOR: 7 (2nd), 15 (3rd), 4 (4th), 1 (5th) -- 82 points Kyle Bradish, BAL: 6 (3rd), 8 (4th), 5 (5th) -- 39 points Luis Castillo, SEA: 2 (2nd), 5 (4th), 5 (5th) -- 23 points Zach Eflin, TB: 1 (2nd), 2 (3rd), 3 (4th), 3 (5th) -- 19 points Pablo López, MIN: 5 (4th), 1 (5th) -- 11 points George Kirby, SEA: 1 (4th), 6 (5th) -- 8 points Framber Valdez, HOU: 1 (4th), 4 (5th) -- 6 points Chris Bassitt, TOR: 1 (3rd), 1 (5th) -- 4 points Félix Bautista, BAL: 3 (5th) -- 3 points Chris Martin, BOS: 1 (5th) -- 1 point
  5. First catchers try to cheat by pretending a pitch is what it is not, and now throwing purposely at the retired batter when nobody is trying to steal. And at his head, no less (and umpire allows it and even rewards the behavior!) No scruples. Nice to get at least one in the win column in NYC. Is it just me, or do you notice that Duran is way too hittable these days, too?
  6. It is not the opposing pitchers that are not swinging at good and close pitches. Looking at strikes and swinging at balls is not on pitchers, it is on the batter.
  7. Twins can't put their bat on it, as well. Festa can really lose it in a second. 4 pitch walk, another wild ball, balk on a pick off attempt, and a wild pitch. Then a single to Martinez for the one run. Limited sequence, but that all of the sudden he was totally out of control. He hit a batter right after the homer he gave up later. Wild. Still only two runs given up.
  8. Should have saved those lonely two runs from yesterday for today........
  9. Lewis must have been hanging around Julien too much. Yes, that last pitch was a ball, but it was close enough to protect, and he let some fine strikes go without swinging, also. #3 K for the day, and looking. Too much Julien exposure.
  10. Well he sucked in ST before he took it off.
  11. It is just sad watching Buxton keep getting suckered on the way out of the zone low and outside slider. Over and over and over. It never even starts in the zone. He must tell himself repeatedly to not go for it. And then still does. It is like an automatic strikeout with two strikes on him for the pitcher. And every pitcher knows it. Just sad. And with bases loaded killer Lewis coming up on the walk. Damn.
  12. And having him back will only make the mocking more massive.
  13. I like the knife on the tree part, whatever and however you carve it up.
  14. Who needs more pitching when we have discovered Wallner’s secret weapon?!?!
  15. And that’s a list that is both virtually and literally impossible to get on these days!
  16. Timing. 15-2 against the Mets. Great shape. Yup.
  17. There goes our run differential. Best pen in MLB. I thought we got rid of Jackson. Maybe just changed name to Stewart?
  18. The best move they could make is just DFA Theilbar. It is pathetic that they keep throwing him out there. They should have done it in ST.
  19. People may laugh, but you are right. You can never have enough elite arms in the pen. And Duran is not reliable as you need to make the run for the trophy.
  20. Duran has become the Lopez of the pen. The expectation is there for excellence, but he just can't live up to the consistent performance. And it seems so many, not just the Phillies, make contact against him now. Even his high speed fastballs. Rarely does he have a clean inning. Someone always seems to make contact, if not all the hitters. We had the same opportunity, and we gave it to Jeffers, and the Phillies had Marsh. Damn. These last 3 series have been telling for being able to perform in close games. We were really rolling before Reese, Correa, and Miranda all went out at the same time. Plan Bs just can't quite do it.
  21. Jeffers is best to just hope for a walk these days, especially with the guy pitching and he has a strike to give at 3-1. He has got to be smarter than that. A one month wonder this year. Kinda sad. What a wasted opportunity.
  22. SNOWPIERCER! Time to get back on the train.......
  23. The bullpen gave up 11 runs in the last two games. All in 5 innings. Granted 2 of those innings were fake baseball, and 3 unearned as it goes.
  24. Pinch hitting an 0-22, now 0-23 pinch hitter doesn't help, eh? Jax giving up an 0-2 two run homer is on Jax, though.
