  1. On a related note, I keep reading in different posts that the Twins and Falvine 'will have a boatload of money to spend on free agency'. I don't see it. The free agent market last year was funky, few signings until late, and for less money. If I'm Falvine I'd let the market self correct downward for another year, keep building the farm system, see how Sano, Buxton, Rosario, Kepler, Polanco, Berrios, etc. develop and shoot for 2020 to spend this boatload of money.
  2. Too soon to grade, you need at least five years. Its kind of like a college football coach, you need to let him bring in his coaches, set up a system, win or lose on his own recruits and actions. Same with Falvine. They've set up new processes, changed coaches, started bringing in new players, had a couple of drafts, etc. now we need to be patient for a few years before we praise or tar and feather them.
  3. Yeah its raining here too on the parade outside my window.
  4. Seth, I like the piggy back idea but what are the odds that the Twins do something like that?? I just heard Molitor say the other day that he's still trying to win games. To him that means a starter and then piece in your best relievers.
  5. None of us know if an extension was offered or what Escobars family situation or what his temperament is, all I know is that if it was me that was traded, I'd be PO'd and it would take a serious overpay by the Twins to get me back. Which leads back to my original point, which was that I've read numerous times here on TD 'sign Escobar back in the office season', I don't see it happening.
  6. I think the fact that they traded him, uprooted him and his family, negates any good will that they Twins might have with him. I know I'd be PO'd if I was him.
  7. I don't know why everyone is counting on Pineda, he's coming back from a major surgery. Plus Berrios has a lot to learn. They need every piece of depth that they can get!!!
  8. People keep saying 'sign Escobar' but I don't see it happening. Yeah he might like MN but does that override the 'they traded me , I had to uproot my family factor?' Plus you'll have twenty some other teams to bid against. I'd be really surprised if he signed back with the Twins.
  9. As long as its just a one year contract, I'd be ok with signing him. He appears to be the type of 'professional' hitter that the Twins like (kind of like Grossman) and Gordon doesn't look like he's ready.
  10. Buxton will be back in center in a few weeks (my fingers are crossed) so they need to get the other three some experience in the corners, especially Cave.
  11. Thanks for the review Tom!!! I was at a picnic all afternoon and logged in just to see how Stewart did - and this thread answered the ???
  12. Forget making May into a starter, with his stuff he can be a top of the line reliever. Let him relieve on a regular basis this year next year try him as the closer.
  13. After we got back the eleven prospects at the trade deadline, I kept wondering why Falvine didn't try to get back one higher ranked prospect in each trade vs two lower ranked prospects that had a minimal chance of making the majors. This article gives us hope that one or two will succeed.
  14. Seth, thanks for the comparison article!!! Nice read! Plus it gives us hope!!!!! Now how about a similar article for Alex Kirilloff?
  15. It sure would be fun to be a fly on the wall in the GM's office, listening in on the trade talk conversations. Who makes the first call? The seller or buyer? Who makes the first offer? How many times do they talk before a trade is consummated? how many trades are discussed that never get made? It would be interesting....
  16. Darn, I'll be on the road this weekend, with no internet access..... Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised on Monday!!!
  17. Dealing Duke and Lynn would also give them a chance to check out some of the pitchers in AAA. Thats what they need to be focused on!!!
  18. I hope some of your predictions come true!!
  19. Hopefully it WILL be Polanco, to prove that last year wasn't all PEDs.
  20. His slump helped bury the Twins early on. Hopefully he's building his trade value. Even thought the Twins are out of it, ten games back, its still nicer to listen to winning baseball. It will be interesting to see how they do against a team on a roll like Tampa. On a side note, is there a spot on Twins Daily that lists the daily roster transactions?? I was listening last night and when they mentioned that Busenitz was pitching, I was wondering 'when did he get called up'?
  21. The Timberwolves and the Jimmy Butler come to mind here. They traded 3 young talented players for JB, he came in an lit a fire under the T-wolves, but then he got hurt and they struggled to make the playoffs. Now they're facing the fact that he is only signed for one more year, if he doesn't resign with them, the T-wolves are &*()*(*&, facing mediocrity for many years because they gave up their young player pipeline. Is that the model we want the Twins to follow? Trade for a player like Realmuto when you're closer to contention, Washington is there, the Twins aren't.
