  1. This says it all. Its all in BB's head. He hasn't figured it out that he more help to the Twins on the field then he is on the DL. He's a terror on the base paths, he's starting to figure out the hitting so he gets on base more, that combo of offense combined with very good defense could make him a perennial all-star for years to come, and one of the Twins most valuable players. Instead he has it in his head that he has to get to every ball, regardless of the injury risk. I'd like to insert some choice terms here but you get the drift. Posters say BB is what he is because of the aggressive play. They are correct but which is more valuable to the Twins (and better for BB's career) 60 games a year of super aggressive play and 100 games on the DL or 140 games of good offense/base running/and above average defense?? The kind of defense that very few can play but doesn't result in wall crashing/diving/running into other players??? BB, save the hi-light reel plays for the last out of the World Series and help the Twins get to the WS by staying healthy. Is that too much to ask?
  2. I'm curious where Twins Daily had Arraez ranked in their minor league player rankings before the season started??
  3. The Kinks - (Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman Superman, superman, wish I could fly like superman Superman, superman, want to be like superman I want to be like superman Superman, superman, wish I could fly like superman ------------------------ This song always pops into my when I hear that Buxton is going on the injury list - again - because of running into something - a wall, the ground, another player, after awhile you realize it isn't just an unfortunate accident. Its Byron not thinking. Problem is that the 1) the Twins are a better team with him in the lineup. Save the spectacular play for the last out in the World Series. Otherwise play smarter, realize that you're not superman, that you are a human with breakable parts. You can't tell me that he couldn't play hard and still be a good defensive center, without the stupid contact. 2) He's going to play himself right out of the league with injuries. How many concussions can a body take before he has to call it quits. Look no further than Joe Mauer. Concussions forced him away from catcher and lingered through out his career. When Buxton does play himself out of the league with injuries I know I won't feel sorry for him. Falvine and Baldeli need to spout the party line "thats his style of play" but I wish someone like Tori Hunter would take him aside and say "listen kid, you're being stupid, play hard but play smart" -- only in stronger terms.
  4. It will work, its the Twins broadcast, I'll bookmark the site for some day when the Twins get preempted but I'd still like to find the Twins official broadcast with Cory and Dan. Thanks. Anybody with any other suggestions?
  5. Does anyone know what website I can use to stream the Twins online?? In my shop (with WiFi) trying to listen to the Twins, on a stormy day like today the The Twins on the radio are all static on AM 830 WCCO. When I goto listen to the Twins online at https://player.radio.com/listen/station/830-wcco it just has CBSsports on it. Yet after the game it will go back to regular WCCO programming. Any I idea how I can stream the Twins online? I would also like to get the regular radio broadcast if I could. Finding the Twins online would also help in the fall when the local radio stations here by Brooten preempt the Twins for high school football or girls basketball.
  6. I don't love the deal but I like it a lot, trade someone who is rule 5 eligible this winter, trade a guy while he is playing good and is valuable, get back a veteran usable reliever and two prospects, whats not to like about the deal?? One of my pet peeves on the Twins has been when they bring some guy up for a cup of coffee, he does poorly, and they trade him for nothing or release him -- think Oswaldo Arcia. At least with Diaz they trade him before they lose him or he proves that he isn't capable.
  7. Buxton is back what’s the over/under on how many games he plays before he hurts himself again!??
  8. This. Buxton is a head case and can't handle the pressure of leading off. That and his 'I am superman' style of play that leads to time on the disabled list doesn't lead to any consistent playing time, time to learn how to be a consistent major league player. Let him gain confidence at 9, keep stroking his ego 'I like you as a second lead off hitter', see if he's still on the field and playing at a high level in August, then think about moving him.
  9. Reckless AND stupid. You can play hard AND smart, Buxton hasn't figured that out yet. Hopefully Baldelli can impart some wisdom on him.
  10. Whatever happened to Logan Morrison?? Did he sign with another team for 2019??
  11. Show me the money. Or in other words lets revisit this at the all-star break and see how he's doing.
  12. I think he'll be able to feed his family after signing this contract!!
  13. You have to feel sorry for the kid, not being able to harness all that talent, but somehow he always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
  14. I really, really hope your prediction of Buxton becoming an all-star comes thru, that 6 months from now we're lamenting the front office not signing him to an extension. I'm tired of all the Buxton hype, I'm tired of his bone-headed self inflicted running into walls type injuries, I'd just like to hear talk about how his play is helping the Twins become a contender. Along those same lines, I hope Rocco keeps him at the bottom of the order for a few months, no matter how good he plans, don't let him think too much, let him gain some confidence.
  15. Good read Doc!!! People are tired of hearing it, and so am I, but the Twins really need to see how Buxton and Sano perform this year, how they do will make or break their season. In the meantime the young core of Berrios, Kelpler, Polanco, Rosario get another year to develop, management can determine what they truly have. Plus all the young starters, they need to see what they have. And if you really LISTEN to what Falvine says, they are willing to jump in and sign a player or two when it will make a difference and get them over the hump, but that time is not here yet. They need to see what they have.
  16. 'It was a bit of an oddity that Gonzalez lingered this long on the free agent market.' You kind of brought it up in your article but I wonder why Houston didn't resign him??
  17. Agreed!!! I mentioned that in an earlier post!!
  18. Let me beat on this dead horse and rephrase it. He's going to be a very very rich man no matter where he goes but the odds of winning multiple championships in the next ten years would be many times better in New York or Boston. He was a free agent and could choose wherever he wanted to go and make a lot of money either way, but he chose the path of less championships. So his motivation is money not championships.
  19. Only in you think it is. Don't forget to tap your ruby slippers together three times.
  20. Its really hard to know exactly what contracts were offered but I'll bet if Machado had went to anyone of the three teams that you mentioned and offered to sign for a lot less, if he'd have said 'I want to play for a winner', they'd have made room for him. We'll never know. I agree with one of the other posters that said Machado will fade into the woodwork's, except for some all-star games and bad behavior news, because I don't think San Diego management will get it done. Only time will tell.
  21. I understand your point about how much fun it is to be the underdog and win but since I watched the Padres back in 1977 they have been to the World Series once (according to another poster). Thats some serious underdoging!!! And some really serious management ineptitude!!! There's no need to fear, Underdog is here.
  22. I will add that San Diego is a beautiful city with GREAT weather!!! I spent four years their in Uncle Sam's Navy and coming from MN, I was always telling people to appreciate the weather!!! 70 degrees and clear most of the year!!! Even during the rainy winter, it would clear up by late afternoon and you could get out for your run!!! If you heard thunder it was rare!!! I also remember going to Padre games at the old stadium. This was back in the days of the Big Red machine, Perez, Bench, Morgan, Pete Rose, tickets were cheap, we could get tickets right on the third base line, beer, peanuts, and baseball!!! It was great.
  23. Thats where I'm shaking my head over this deal, the fact that he didn't sign with one of the teams that spend the money every year and has a chance to goto the World Series every year - the Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, etc. How much money do you really need?? Could you live on 25 million a year?? It tells me that the player is more concerned about the money than he is about winning. Yes the Padres may make a run in the next few years with all their great (but unproven) prospects but if you really wanted to win on a consistent basis, you wouldn't pick the Padres.
  24. Thats one concern I have about the hiring of Rocco, he's another rookie manager that like Molitor, has never managed in the minors, never had to make the actual decisions on pitching changes, never had to make out a lineup. You can't tell me that managing 200-300 games at a lower level wouldn't give you a better handle on how to manage.
