  1. The Johnson boys should have been replaced long ago. It is on Falvey that they still have a job. Noah Miller is not knocking on the door to MILB, more like a barely audible tap. Every mediocre batter is hoping he will become the full time SS for the Dodgers. League averages for everything would drop
  2. The author used a theoretical number. The x-stats are also the theoretical numbers. Using babip as a predictor is theory. Nobody ever has a reason why the player is meeting the theoretical threshold. .
  3. Yup, the Phillies sure are a losing organization. They have been selling Painter as the next great pitcher. yup, 3 years minimum, Skenes still should be in the minors, as should Dylan Crews, Wyatt Langford, and quite a few others from the 2023 draft
  4. When. The Twins had options of developing relievers and position players in what amounts to fall instructional league they picked up every bad reliever they could. Erasmo and Urena were not bad enough so hey we’re DFA. Of course it is. A tank
  5. Well, he has the second lowest BABIP for players with 300 PA. Maybe he is an unlucky dude. People here say an extreme BABIP is a measure of luck. Savant has all sorts of nice numbers on his page https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/kody-clemens-665019?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb I don’t know why the twister in chief did not include those numbers. I looked at Savant because when I looked up his BABIP, I had to see if the .236 was the worst. , Wallner’s was only slightly better and I had to see if Clemens was as slow as Wallner. He is not.
  6. The 2023 team spent money. They were in first place in the division all year except for a couple of days. Their record at the end was exactly the same as the 1987 Twins. There was an increase of about 2000 fas per game, still about 18000 empty seats. The fans sent a clear message to the Pohlads
  7. Annual MVP Bonuses: 1st: $8M 2nd: $7M 3rd: $6M 4th: $5M 5th: $4M 6th-10th: $3M Plate Appearances $500,000 each for 502, 533, 567, 600, 625 2022-2026: Full No Trade Clause 2027-2028: 5-team trade list.
  8. That people do not understand that pitching harder is more stressful on the body does not surprise me That people don’t understand that human bodies are all a little different and hence some people’s tendons are not as strong as others are doesn’t surprise me. The tendons are what they are and there is not a whole lot you can do about it. It is what it is. There is no system problem That pitchers had to get faster with pitch’s to counteract hitters getting better should be a basic concept. Pitching slower would not be the solution Merril Kelly is the outlier for right handed pitchers with a mid 90s FB.
  9. Yup. Steroids help recovery Blyleven was in the low 90s, a lot less stress than in the high 90s.
  10. The promotion of players won’t do a thing for attendance. I was there more fans out to watch Ryan pitch? How about when Keaschall came back.? I early June when the Twins were playing great after starting slowly were there any more fans? Yes playing a pile of AAA and fringe major league players will not and should not draw fans. Hometown players, big contract players, and all stars were not drawing them in, either
  11. Rocco is managing to get higher draft picks. Hopefully the new minority owners know how to draft in the first round. Rocco is also going a fine job of putting bad relievers in a position to fail. They just are not quite good enough. Topa is another example of not buying into an outlier season.
  12. Lewis has not played a full season of games since 2019. He is suddenly going to be healthy and speedy again? He is core and doesn’t play a full season. That would be a stretch to call him core. Be careful when you stretch Royce. You might hear a pop. Larnach is below average in hitting for a starter, and does not play defense well. He has a career bwar of 3.5. A career fwar of 2.9. Why would anyone think he is going to get a 5 million contract? What comparable player has received that? As far as trade value, maybe a little something in spring training if another team’s outfielder gets injured and the prospects are too far away from ready. Ryan and Lopez are in the same boat. 2 years of team control. Falvey wanted a lot for Ryan at the deadline. Nothing has changed. There may be more players lost at the end of the year due to DFA and minor trades than trades off this list
  13. The value of the franchises are tied to their ability to make money. The big market teams are not going to lose the value of their franchise without some compensation. The 8 teams making over 100 million are not going to give that many millions out of benevolence.
  14. So why would a swing change help a player who has shot legs for speed? A swing change would be trying to make yourself into the next Dave Kingman. I don’t think that would be prudent mid season. Lewis has the wrong agent or the Twins are more than happy to take a wait and see attitude with a player that has spent significant time on the DL for 5 years in a row, Now were ne a pitcher….. As far as greedy goes, fans complain the Pohlads are cheep and Lewis is greedy. That is just awesome.
  15. There was a guy playing for Texas named Joey Gallo if Wallner turned into that guy I don’t think people would mind. Then there was the Joey Gallo who bounced around to different teams. I think teams thought they were getting their guy who played for Texas named Joey.
  16. Four triple a bats are in the lineup getting their more than an irregular sample size shot for their future. Martin, Outman. Julian and Gasper
  17. Larnach had about a league average bat for a starter in 2024. So is that season the outlier or is 2025 the outlier? If 2025 is the outlier then he is a useful bat. If 2024 is the outlier then the question is who is ready? So far the fall auditions are not a large enough sample to identify a replacement
  18. Has anyone seen Will Ragatz and Cody in the same room together so people will know they are not the same person?
  19. The haul might be 5 A, A+, and AA players. They might not be players high on anyone’s list of prospects.
  20. First thing people have to realize is that Jim Pohlad still runs the team. He is still controlling the money. Second thing is, Falvey is his guy. How the trade deadline played out should make that clear. Joe Pohlad is just the press secretary and the face for the franchise so Jim doesn’t have to hear the things people say. What is next year’s payroll? Revenue-expenses+ maybe whatever tax money they get back from what they can deduct- benefits and payroll taxes= the player payroll. What are expenses? Atlanta had expenses on their financial statement of 505 million with a 235 million payroll There is the high end. Those numbers were cited by Baseball America. Dejan Kovacevic’s numbers for the Pittsburgh Pirates Pirates, a team he has covered for 21 years, were 171.7 million. https://dkpittsburghsports.com/team/site-stuff/feed?page=0&content=pirates-losing-money-bob-nutting-investigation-mlb-dk The Twins’ number is likely somewhere in between. Likely closer to the 171.7 than 270. The MLB.com site list a lot more front office people for the Twins than the Pirates. The benefit costs last year according to Cots was 30 million. Revenue in 2024 for the Twins was 324 million. A couple hundred thousand less fans and very little local TV revenue will decrease the revenue for 2025. Best case scenarios No drop in other revenue, FO is as cheap as Pittsburg’s would leave about 120 million for payroll. More likely, the bloat in the FO is 10-20% higher and payroll will be about 100 million.
  21. Able, Festa, and Mathews really have nothing left to prove in the minor leagues. As starting pitchers in the majors they have proved nothing. Festa’s numbers on first time through the order are buoyed by his ability to get the bottom of the order out. SWR after 47 games is what he is. 4-5 innings, generally keeps you in the game Bradley is an expensive lottery ticket. 5 pitchers, 2 spots. 4 or 6 more starts to prove themselves Spring training has arrived early. No matter the outcome, they will get their 80-90 pitches in.
  22. League average OPS for a DH is 773. League average would be higher except Larnach is at .725 and Pittsburgh is giving McCutchen (OPS .711) a farewell tour since he is the last of their winning teams’ players and they have nothing better to do.
  23. It is always the coach’s fault when the player can’t leave?
  24. They fans eyed to quit thinking a salary dump of a player not performing up to the contract
