  1. Souhan is not a health care provider. The law does not cover journalists repeating what the player has said in the past. HELLO I worked with the law since it's inception
  2. A contract worker is an employee for only as long as the contract. The contract was not renewed. There is no HR issues. There are no legal issues. There are no HIPPA issues as his wife was not an employee, nor was she likely to be under the care of the Twins' trainers. He managed to win games. Looks good on the resume. It is really hard to say that he developed anybody beyond what they would have been. What he has done, someone else can do. Maybe even work at developing pitchers. Developing plate discipline, Fundamental baseball.
  3. You complain that Castro has passed balls. So far this season he has 5 21 catchers have more passed balls. the 13/14 others that have 5 only one has played more games. Say it is a problem and people believe regardless of the statistics. That is an elite talent, but not one to be admired.
  4. In the what have you done lately vein, Moya has played in more innings than Hicks has the last 2 weeks. Moya has as many hits as Hicks does this month. This month the Twins may be winning the trade.
  5. I doubt that Mauer will get in without a couple of seasons with some hardware given out at the end of the year. If he is not winning popularity contests now, he will not later.
  6. Garcia has 0 wins, Gee has 1 as a starter. Sample sizes for statistics as a measure of talent are way too small. The youthful talent that fans clamor for has zero wins. In aggregate it is bad stats versus bad stats. You are debating a moot point.
  7. I do not know if the Twin's farm system has more injuries to pitchers than others but it does seem like there are a lot. The minor leagues are about developing first, winning second. It does not do the development of the pitchers much good to be in rehab. Strict pitch counts, usage patterns and innings limits are likely a front office directive. The pitching coordinator and manager least likely to follow the directive are not retained More staff may be going.
  8. Speed has a little correlation. Buxton has about a 1% higher LD % than league average. About 25 % than league average, on bunts. That is about half of the difference between his BABIP and league average. Spray charts show a good number of line drives over the shortsop.
  9. Byron Buxton has a .332 BABIP. That is not that high for a player with speed.
  10. So really only two pitchers out there. Talk about a slim window for success
  11. There might be Arrietta, Darvish and stretching a bit, Lance Lynn, and Estrada. out there as free agents that would be better than Berrios. Maybe add Cobb. Most of them are likely to be resigned by their clubs except for Cobb. The next hope would be a rebound from Tillman There just is not that much out there. The hope is the brain wizards in the front office can identify a talent that they can get. that would be on the upswing. That wouldn't make Gibson expendable, but in the back of the rotation is fine.
  12. Hughee was listed as Aug 28 on bref I suppose that he was transferred to the 60 day No real big deal. Now it allows them to add Palka as their secret weapon pinch hit bench bat, since Randy Bush is unavailable.
  13. Isn't debating moot points the core of any long thread?
  14. In a world series against the Cubs Randy Bush might be walking into the clubhouse, if only to offer congratulations to the victors.
  15. Perhaps you made a blunder by fictionalizing what I think of Moya. I have said nothing of Moya's abilities, just that there would need to be an injury to get him on the post season roster. From the Sweet Ones post Clubs can petition the Commissioner's Office to add any player that was not on the 40-man roster as of Aug. 31 -- provided the player was in the organization on Aug. 31 and is replacing a player who has spent at least 60 days on the 60-day disabled list. Santiago went on the 60 day dl on September 1. He was on the 15 day dl before that. The Twins could add Reed or Curtis to the post season roster. Whatever they do they need to have more than Busenitz, Belisle, Hildenberger and Rogers followed bu Uh oh. If it is Moya, great. One appearance in a mop up role is not much to judge on. People will have to see how the month plays out. Turley, Tonkin, Curtis will all likely get a chance to show they belong. All four, show they belong in a major league bullpen even better. The team fist has to get into the playoffs first before they have to worry about the roster. By the end of the month there might be a clearer bullpen picture.
  16. Santiago went on the 60 day on September 1 thus does not meet the 60 days on the 60 day rule. Same for Chagois, Hughes went on sometime in August I do not remember anyone being added that joined the team after September 1,
  17. That would be May or O'Rourke. To get approval it would likely take showing that there was an expectation that either could have pitched. That is not happening.
  18. To be able to sign an urestricted free agent contract the player has to have 6 years of service time in, MLB adjusted the IFA rules so that an IFA can sign one after they turn 25.
  19. Moya was not up before September 1. To get on the playoff roster someone on the roster before September 1 would have to get hurt.
  20. One of the stories out of moneyball was Beane raving about a catcher's build. Scouts are more likely to look at the play than the build.
  21. Fast rising prospects get left off lists. Altuve is Venezuelan so he did not get the hype a high school player might. The stat geeks would have looked at the 5'6" listing and counted it against him. In 2011 he had 200+ PA likely taking him out of consideration. Slower developing players like Dozier and Turner are going to be missed. Relievers that get to 3 WAR are few. Jansen rose so fast he was missed. Miller kicked around a long tome as a mediocre starter. Betance and Davis were ranked prospects. Uhera came over without ever being a prospect. Those are it for 3 WAR relievers the last 5 years. That really does not skew the 35-40% number of 3 WAR players being unranked given that there are over 100 3 WAR players a year. An older article https://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2013/6/3/4386214/how-well-does-the-baseball-america-prospect-top-100-estimate-the-top Be mindful that a career year can get you a 3 war. Trevor Ploufe had one great year and was never a ranked prospect. How many players are there like Plouffe out there? I do not know.
  22. pretty much the games were not in doubt https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=turleni01&t=p&year=2017
  23. 6.2 IP, 4G , 2 ER in one game
  24. Some of the teams that are low in sacrifice bunts are higher in GIDP, ie 2 outs instead of 1. Tricky business this is
  25. About 5 years ago the success rate stated in an article was 80% for sacrifices. No idea how the current data would be at. Since it looks like you are implying they are bad at it, and do it a lot, perhaps you would like to find the statistics that back it?
