  1. If you don't think they could be a 3 or better you probably don't sign any of them to much more than a minimum contract. Incentive deal for Jurrgens, maybe Karstens. Gorzelanny as a lefty insurance starter in Rochester so Duensing can stay in the pen would be a very wise investment
  2. The number of players the Twins picked up from other organizations were not scouted by the Twins when they traded for them? That they traded for someone else's minor leaguer is no sin. BTW I think Knoublauch had to play second because there was a better SS named Gagne ahead of him.
  3. "Maybe the Marlins didn't want anyone in the Twins system or the Twins might not have been offering some of their top prospects." Ding Ding Ding. Maybe you nailed it. What do the Twins have for highly rated prospects above the low A level? On the multiple threads about this trade the sad fact is the Twins don't have much to trade. If the 2012 draft selections pan out they will have trade chips. Not now, they have nothing to offer other than what they do not want to trade.
  4. Do you forget that they trade a lot of their players for prospects. Gio Gonzales, Bailey and Dan Haren brought them a haul of prospects that took them to the playoffs this year?
  5. You have a very short memory. I in the past have responded to Thyrloss with fact. What would call what you posted in response to Thryloss on Baker? If you want Thyrlos thrown off for posting inaccuracies then clean your own house first.
  6. Then they would also have to remove you for all the garbage you posted
  7. A good but nor great outfielder should net you a good but not great pitching prospect. The Twins need a great pitching prospect. A low A prospect who is great is not what the Twins have a surplus of, nor do they have a surplus of near major league talent to trade to sweeten the pot.
  8. On a recent post I mentioned a Gardenhire fault called a doghouse. Slama is in it. Therefore unless he is lights out awesome, he will be elsewhere. Quickly, as I have to get back to work, The Twins may sign one legit starter and probably a reclaimation project. To want two is reasonable. To get two is another. A Pino/Lawton type of player for a short term starter is more like what they will do
  9. Thank you for the article. I now know when I see your name next to an article what quality the piece will be and ignore it.
  10. I guess this proves that it is easier to find corner outfielders than pitchers, catchers and imiddle infielders. Then again Norwood, Powell, and Bombo proved that you can never have enough prospects.
  11. Considering the number of posts crucifing Butera and Gray this season, it is a great post.
  12. Before Pavano the last ace they traded for was Smiley in 92, the last free agent was Morris. There was a lot of filler signed. I doubt there would be a change of behavior. There will be someone out there that they sign to fill out the rotation. The will last a halff a year before being jettisoned.
  13. The GM relies on scouts. Ryan and Smith are only as good as the scouts they employ. I would foresee Ryan trading for someone else's minor league pitcher looking for another hit like Joe Mays as there is not much starting pitching at the higher levels that are not currently on the dl. I wouldn't look for the Twins to sign any pitcher as a free agent for more than a couple of years. That limits the talent they can sign.
