  1. Well said. Thank you. You speak for a lot of us.
  2. Justin is one of the all-time great Twins players. Hrbek was even better.
  3. I feel compelled to leave a comment primarily because I saw Unbreakable for the first time just yesterday. There have certainly been a number of moves that have been puzzling. Had Ryan said this was a rebuilding year I would be OK with that. He said he expected the Twins to be competitive this year. If he really believed that then we have serious issues in the FO. Almost no one here at TD really thought that. And we're just avid fans, not full time baseball people. If he never really believed it, well, I don't appreciate any more than anyone else being lied to. Which is it? And is either of those acceptable?
  4. Nice article John. Thank you. I am actually kind of happy for Justin. I am suddenly a Pirates fan. They have a very good team and Justin will have an opportunity to play with McCutchen, one of the most exciting players in the game. Some are saying there is a very good chance they will bring Justin back. Unless Parmelee or Colabello step up that might be a really good idea. Who knows? For now, go Justin! Go Pirates!
  5. Actually it's 4-25. Not going to happen, but as much grief as Justin gets on these boards, he is all that keeps us from a loss from time to time. The '100 losses' is a metaphor. You are correct, of course. It won't happen.
  6. Fun stuff rikker49. Cannot see any reason Hicks would lead off next year. In fact I believe it is more possible that he starts the year in AAA than leading off for the Twins. Sadly, that 2014 lineup is not one I expect to score a great many runs. Hmmm...
  7. I'm happy for Justin, but I fear you are right.
  8. I'm with those that are hoping Justin gets a ring. He will be one of the only guys in the Pirates clubhouse with playoff experience. Ryan may have done this so Justin gets a shot at the playoffs. Also, I think this may release the Twins from some 10 and 5 rules in the event that they resign him in the offseason. Go Pirates!
  9. Truly amazing. I've never seen a stat like that out of MLB. Yes, it's probably happened before with less than 15 AB, but.... wow.
  10. The real contradiction, in my book, is Terry Ryan insisting that we were going to be competitive this year, then fielding this SP rotation. Really makes you wonder... I'd have more respect for him had he acknowledged that this would be a rebuilding year.
  11. I am not of the notion that Morneau is easily replaceable. I believe he is a much safer choice for next year than Parmelee or Colabello. However, both of those guys have raked in AAA. Could one of them be for real against MLB pitching? Maybe. Do we go into next year uncertain that either can hit, but plan of making a decision after 400 PA? That could be very costly to our Win/Loss record.
  12. Beresford has a higher BA than Bernier by a small margin (.295 to .305) and Bernier has a higher OPS (.778 to .709), so I understand why they called Bernier up. That, and Beresford has only played 4 games this year at SS. Why do they move all their young SS to 2B? I get not all of them are great, but what do we have, 6 2B now? Someone has to play SS. With Dozier playing well and Rosario coming, how many 2B, with very limited SS experience, do we need? This organization's insistence on moving all drafted SS to 2B is a puzzle to me. At least Escobar is getting some games in a SS while he's down there. And he, I believe, is our utility guy for the near future. (is he doesn't outright take SS from Pedro)
  13. No argument here, Shane, but a .447 OPS? He may need a full year of AAA. That wouldn't be all bad, maybe, but we should have a crowded outfield soon after that. Absolutely agree that his history did not suggest that skipping a level would go well. But Joe Benson played poorly, Mastro got hurt and Hicks hit and fielded (in ST) like he was ready. Cannot fault the Twins for starting the year with him in CF.
  14. True. I get that batting as a RH against RH pitchers is going to suck, but it likely won't be worse than what he is getting now. Either that or have him pitch. And I'm not kidding. The way he's going now he does not belong on a Major League roster. (and I really like the kid)
  15. That caught my eye as well. Would Hicks really lead off a lineup like that? Why? And Santana? Hmm... And I have different hopes for May than as a closer. We need him as a good #2 or at the least a #3 SP.
  16. Really USAFChief, we are happy for you. In fact it is, sadly, the highlight of our evening.
  17. Bases empty. Haha. They've fallen into our trap!
  18. I don't think that is unfair. Hopefully Bruno is keeping an eye on him. I cannot help but believe the ceiling for this guy is very high.
  19. Yes, they could. I wonder if they would consider Logan Darnell. I know his WHIP is 1.4, but hasn't he been pitching better lately? Anyone think this might be in the cards? Perdomo? Robertson?
  20. What is they were? Terry Ryan can say they are giving Justin a shot at the playoffs with a team that has pretty much NO playoff experience. Play Colabello and Parmelee and see if someone surprises us. If the Pirates gave us almost nothing and paid $1.5 million of Justin's contract that would be $1.5 million TR saved. He has to think that would be good. Again, the money will be gone at the end of the year if we keep Justin. Pay him to play for the Bucs for the rest of the year and I believe we could get a future bullpen arm out of the deal.
  21. Thank you robbie111. I've sometimes gone to other blogs and it's kind of fun. Many of them bring up an important point; that Justin would make them stronger. I cannot see why TR wouldn't do this. The money will be gone at the end of the year anyway. If they want to resign him they can still do that. P.S. The White Sox blogs are especially fun when they are losing.
  22. The defensive issues, whatever they are, are an issue. He's been catching in pro ball for years. How much better is he going to get? I don't know how far he is from MLB ready as a C. His bat does seem to look promising. I remain optimistic about Pinto, but I've been optimistic about a number of guys who never made it or simply got a cup of coffee. Apparently being a really good MLB player is quite difficult.
  23. Some may feel you are being a little hard on Gardy, but Tom Kelly's teams made VERY few of those types of mistakes. That is why for so many years announcers for other teams talked about how 'the Twins do the little things right.'
  24. Morneau is the only batter in our lineup hitting over .250. Hope Mauer & Arcia are back soon. Wait! I lied! Ramirez is hitting .281. Yea!
  25. There were a couple of poor throws. Let's just say that whoever is lobbying hardest on these boards to keep Justin Morneau, in real life is really Brian Dozier.
