  1. Clearly you did the right thing. We are all happy for you.
  2. ChiTownTwinsFan If he doesn't know baseball why did the relationship last so long? Was it the off-season?
  3. Man, if we cannot find something to talk about I suppose I'LL call ChiTownTwinsFan.
  4. Twins batters too savvy to swing at those third strikes. Lot of savviness going on here.
  5. Verlander is too savvy to throw strikes to Herrmann.
  6. This goes to show what a crap shoot FA pitchers are. If Ryan was telling the truth about players not wanting to come here I suspect that Sanchez was one of those. Liriano needed a coach not named Anderson. Unclear what we could have done this year to land real solid pitchers.
  7. Once upon a time I went shopping with my daughter. We were buying a shirt for my brother. I told her that I was looking for a shirt for $20. They were charging $40 for that type of shirt. My daughter said, "Dad, that's what those shirts cost now". Is that where Terry Ryan is now? He just is really not clear what it costs to get really quality players? I wonder about that.
  8. Unfortunately I believe you are right. It was that lack of effort, or concern for the Twins chances, that led Johan and Torii to suggest that the future was always down the road, that the Twins would not make the effort to really lock anything up. Ryan must have thought the Division Championship was the Promised Land. He certainly did nothing to help the club. And they were so close to being a really great team!
  9. For the second half of this season Dozier has the 6th highest WAR of the 23 that 'qualify'. All 5 of those above him have a higher BABIP, so it's not just luck. (stats here if you want to look for yourself) I think we need to see Dozier next year to see what we really have. I believe that just assuming Rosario is better is premature.
  10. The 2006 season ended with the Twins being swept from the post-season by the Oakland A's. The Twins had won their division, a 23 year old kid named Joe Mauer had just won the AL batting title and Justin Morneau had just been crowned the AL MVP. It was also the last year of Brad Radke's career. To compete again the Twins would have to replace Radke. And who did Terry Ryan go out and sign to make this Division Champion even better, perhaps a World Series competitor? Ramon Ortiz and Sidney Ponson. I understand you want to be optimistic, but some of us have watched TR too long to believe anything useful is at all likely. Could happen, but not likely.
  11. Glad you guys had a great time. For those of us who hope to live in happiness vicariously through the Twins, you offer a helpful alternative. Peace, as we used to say in the old days.
  12. Dear John - Nick is mean. And funny.
  13. I'm a big Twins fan so let me respond to this thread: ...... I, ... I got nothin'.
  14. I think ThePuck is right. He is saying exactly that. And Thrylos is right. This team does not feature Nick Punto/Jason Tyner/Jason Bartlett batters in the lineup at the same time. They have very serious and solid hitters.
  15. The site we were being directed to could not even benefit anyone. Anyone. Congrats on getting it back. Gotta have my twinsdaily.com fix.
  16. 7. Think about rain delays. It postpones the sorrow and disappointment. And you can spend the time being foolishly optimistic. I'm being foolish right now!
  17. Wow. In this context 10 is a really big number. I have to believe we would take a pitcher. I am all for BPA, but sometimes what is best for your team is not what would be best for another team. I understand that when it is clear you have to do it, but it's not always clear. That the Astros passed on Buxton is still a mystery to me. If Gatewood cannot stay at SS that has a huge impact on his value.
  18. I voted for Shut Out AGAIN, though the 4 errors, the 11 runs and the 13 strikeouts were all in the running. What a horrible performance.
  19. That was pretty much anything BUT fun with numbers. Sure am glad our catchers have good stats. Wait, that's mostly that one guy.
  20. This was great Bob! Thank you
  21. I give you an A! I'm a notoriously nice guy, though.
  22. Would the real Trevor Plouffe please step forward? Even if it's Bad Trevor. I just need to know. That Good Trevor, popping up occasionally, kinda drives me nuts.
  23. I'm just going to comment here to bump up your question. Perhaps someone who can help you will notice it. Those shirts did look pretty good!
  24. Arcia is listed as being 6' 0" tall. Thrylos said that this is very overstated and that his height is probably about 5' 10". That is not going to play at 1B as long as you have fielders who have to hurry throws, which every MLB team has every game.
  25. 1. I believe that the Twins really will sign a pitcher this year that causes us to raise our eyebrows. In a good way. 2. Why do people keep listing Matt Garza as a possible Twins pitcher? One of the most frustrating things about the coming off-season is this very bad idea. Nothing good could come of this. 3. Sure would be fun to see the Twins get Tanaka. Does anyone know when that all plays out?
