  1. Haha. I knew you were kidding. I saw him at the gym yesterday, and the beach the day before. Yeah, he was helping people pull their boats out of the water. I tried to tell him what great shape he looked to be in, but he just kept saying nice things about some guy named Dave Dombrowski.
  2. Severely underestimated.
  3. I would like to point out that while Rosario probably has more trade value than Dozier at this point, his AA line was .284/.330/.412 (.742) in 313 PA. Excellent for 21 year old, but not actual evidence of a probable all-star. He needs more time to prove himself. Not that some team couldn't pay dearly for him, but I think it's unlikely. And I do not believe he will be in MLB mid-season 2014. Frankly, I don't believe that about Sano, either. Nor Buxton.
  4. Excellent point. And exactly why they are unusually valuable. If your 2B can hit respectfully you have filled a 'usually bad hitter' spot with someone productive. Rosario numbers this year at A+ (.329/.377/.527 [.903]) were excellent for the 21 year old. If he can duplicate those numbers at higher levels he will then likely be a valuable trade chip. I still think it's too early to expect a lot for him.
  5. We could get a king's ransom for Perkins if Detroit could trade for him today.
  6. Riverbrian, I really appreciate you and your posts. That said, we all know that as a Super Moderator you are given certain insights to the future. To rub them in our face later is over the top. Can you get a job working for the Twins? They could use your Super Moderator insights!
  7. IF, indeed. I have high hopes for Rosario, but nothing is certain. And as far as what Dozier can net, he has had 963 MLB PA. The last 300 of them were pretty damn good. Not great, but good. Not sure what we could get for just Dozier.
  8. Of course he was. Have you not read his articles before?
  9. Parables can be such wonderful things. Thank you
  10. It would be unwise for them to say otherwise. That doesn't mean that they couldn't splash an amount of money one year that would push the percentage above 54% one time. I truly believe that the Pohlads are tired of losing, too. I agree with BG816 in that Tanaka appears to be the prize of the off-season.
  11. I saw a thread titled, "Things I'm Thinking". Then I saw it was written by Riverbrian. Naturally, I made myself a drink and sat down to laugh with our strange and interesting Riverbrian. Instead I got a post I just agree a lot with, along with some useful things to know about Epilepsy. Thank you for sharing all that, Riverbrian.
  12. Thanks for these AJ. It's is interesting to be able to follow your progress. Please keep us posted. We wish you all the best. (they don't let us have shoelaces in here)
  13. The teams all have more money and this FA class is not that strong. I say Tanaka gets a Darvish salary, with Darvish money for the post as well.
  14. Hughes has a SO/9 that is rather pedestrian, though it would loom large on our staff. Still want the Twins to go after Kazmir. Luke would be a good experiment as a SP, though. I'd be all for it.
  15. Homer Bailey - 11-12, 3.49 ERA, 1.124 WHIP, 8.6 SO/9, 209 IP. I cannot imagine why they would trade him, but if they are so inclined I would sure like TR to make an effort to land him.
  16. Hmmm... that sucks.
  17. I would be happy to see Torii get a ring. Cheering for the NL seems an odd thing. The Braves play over there, don't they? I do cheer for the NL team if the Yankees are in the WS. I wouldn't cheer for the Yankees if they were playing Al Qaeda. For this year, go Justin! Go Pirates!
  18. The Dodgers are a big money team, but after their previous owner was such a dou**e I am happy for the Dodger fans. Good for them, and GO PIRATES!
  19. I just read this whole thread. I had to stop half way through and make some popcorn. Big fun.
  20. Grabbing Tanaka would give the Twins a real chance at signing Kazmir, I believe. It would show that the Twins are serious about turning things around. With Kazmir, Tanaka and the prospects we have coming, I think we could become a reasonably attractive landing spot for some FAs who want to play on a winner. Those moves would be pretty much unprecedented for this GM, but I continue to be an optimist.
  21. I, too, have had lingering grudges after strike years. I love baseball and would have adopted another team, though who that would have been is not at all clear to me. And, of course, I would not see very many MLB games per year. That would suck.
  22. Amazing to think of how bad our pitching numbers would be without Perkins, our offensive numbers without Mauer, or our overall record without an excellent year from our bullpen. So, um, is anything going to change? Apparently the coaches all did a great job, so we'll see if any adjustments at all are in the cards. Maybe not. Maybe everything is just fine.
