  1. Seth, what about the kid taken in the 11th round last year. I know he had TJ surgery. Expect he won't be back on the mound until summer or even Instructs. Any news on him? Also, what has Thorpe been doing this winter. Had he pitched in Australia?
  2. Thanks Thrylos, enjoyed your opinion and appreciate your work!
  3. Just read several of these this morning, Thrylos. Can't tell you how good it felt to see someone else who believes in Engelb Vielema. I have seen him as the Twins future starting shortstop for several years. Maybe that will happen sometime this summer?
  4. Verona isn't the small town it seems to be to those who don't know it. Over the past few decades it has grown into a thriving Madison suburb, which is home to one of America's most exciting and growing private companies...EPIC SYSTEMS. Didn't Vielema have a leg injury that affected his play for much of the season last year? That may be the reason the number of stolen bases and his success rate was down from the previous year.
  5. If we lose 100 again, we should have the #1 pick again in 2018. Maybe that superstar who isn't out there in 2017 will appear in 2018? Does anyone know if there is a Harper, Trout or Bryant headed towards the 2018 draft?
  6. Thanks, Seth. That was a great article. My opinion, and expectations, for both just went up a bit.
  7. I doubt JDL and Alvarez are at the same level as Berrios and Romero. Romero has had success a couple levels higher than Alvarez. And Berrios is both younger than JDL and doesn't have the arm/shoulder concerns.
  8. And this list doesn't include Lewis Thorpe. Can he come back following missing most of two years? If so, he could be as good as any of the above group. I have always thought that Jay would eventually end up back in the bullpen. I hope I am wrong.
  9. Thanks, Seth. I would agree with Thrylos, however, that the list should include only players actually signed. But it seems that the Twins have been ok. On the other hand, can dream a bit about what the team would be with a couple more 10 bWAR players on the current team...especially if one was a starting pitcher.
  10. The best news from this morning's activity is that the Twins DID NOT lose Lewis Thorpe. If he can get back to the pitcher he was, he can be special!
  11. Great report Seth, thanks. At first glance, I agree that the Landa signing could have waited. But was he holding another offer and they were forced to act? If there is someone else interested, now Club X will need to take him in the Rule 5 if they really want him and that could be a problem with a kid who has only pitched at A ball. Back when Farvey was hired, there were rumors his best man would be joining him at the Twins. Has that happened?
  12. I have a question, Seth. Who got the ball rolling and made the decision to bring them back? Was this started before the new guys took over? Or was it their initiative? Was it Jim Pohlad and St. Peter or Falvey/Levine? Would love to know how this came down.
  13. Great signing. One question, Seth. This puts the 40-man back at 40. Who gets outrighted to Rochester to make room so they can make the #1 selection in the Rule 5?
  14. Thanks for the updates, Seth. I see spring training as a battle between Vargas & Park for DH/backup first baseman. Loser to Rochester. Appears to me that they made the decision between Walker & Palka. Good to see Management making those decisions.
  15. Expect Zucker will be gone by next summer. Makes sense for Las Vegas to take the local kid in the expansion draft. Are you shortchanging the Wild a bit, Seth? Coyle should be higher than #8. I would also include Ek in your top 6 or 7. In part because he has been around so long, we don't appreciate how good Brodin is. I would get him into your top 10. Personally, I would drop Barr to #5 or lower, moving Buxton into #3. Being a Packer fan, I have a difficult time seeing anything positive about the Vikings...although I will agree they are the better team midway thru the 2016 season.
  16. How many pitchers do you think the Twins will have on the 40-man roster, Seth?
  17. Did you struggle with the decision to include Stewart in the Top 10? Expect we would look at him different had he been a 4th round pick. But he wasn't, he was #4 overall. So I expect more from him and see his career as a big disappointment. Maybe my concern should be with the scouts that made the decision to take him that high. On the other hand, should the soon to be named General Manager decide to include him in a package for that front line starter, hopefully the General Manager on the other side of that deal focuses on his being #4 overall and reads your site! Have a great day, Seth.
  18. Can LaMonte Wade be for the Twins what Stephon Diggs, who also was from Maryland, has been for the Vikings?
  19. Thanks for doing this, Seth. Count me among those who would rate Vielema higher, perhaps much higher.
  20. Great season for Elizabethton, especially after that slow start. Also, great seeing Vielma take another step forward with an average above .270. Question for you Jeremy. Considering you are the TD draft expert and the Twins are in great shape to get the #1 overall pick, is there a can't miss star waiting for them next June? Someone like Strasburg or Bryant that can help by the end of 2017?
  21. Nice season Baxendale has put together Seth. If my memory is correct, he will be eligible for the Rule 5 draft but not a minor league free agent. Do the Twins add him to the 40-man roster? Or do you feel there is little chance of losing him?
  22. Doesn't Diaz have five years before being eligible for the Rule 5 draft? That would be after the 2018 year, not 2017?
  23. Have noticed Murphy having a lot of good games of late. Has his bat turned the corner Seth?
  24. I second the comments about Blankenhorn being at DH to much. He was drafted as a third baseman, would think Mauer could play him there when not at second, which is understandable with Arraez in the lineup. I know all the home runs from Buxton are exciting, but 6 strikeouts in the last two games is probably more than Walker or Palka. Has to be a concern.
