  1. I was there with buddies on the third base side. Rose hit a solid ball for the hit. Redfern was the starting pitcher, whom I got to know briefly while I lived in Chatsworth, CA. I believe he was the pitching coach or manager of the Chatsworth Chancellors at the time and one of my employees was a family friend of his. A very nice guy and courageous.
  2. As he should have. He will only improve from here. A quiet star in MLB. Good for him! Congratulations! Twins Geezer out!
  3. Pretty minor if this is the move. Not into the gold, prefer the classic style. However, with the right jersey and gold trim it might mesh with the caps. Myself, I like the red jerseys and wish the Twins would go back to some pin stripes! Please avoid some of the God awful modern massive shifts that look like someone that had too many beers designed. Go TWINS! Twins Geezer.............out.
  4. Good article. Good view points. Personally, IMO, we have some good players but a mess of a team. #1 issue is our manager. It is time for Mr. Baldelli to go. But our FO has said he will stay. MISTAKE. Unload time: Kepler (even though he is superb in the field) is a .240 hitter. Buxton, an extremely talented fielder with power, but not a good hitter, K prone, fragile as a dandelion in full bloom waiting for the wind to take away. All the catchers, even though Sanchez was ok, his hitting was not and his arm was not that great, though our pitchers don't hold runners well (and there were a lot of those). I too am not sold on Kirilloff, though he sure has shown moments when healthy. Archer, Bundy did not help. Keep: Urshela, spend the dollars for Correa,, Arraez, Polanco, Garlick, and see what Lewis can do if he gets healthy. Larnach is interesting, but a pleasant surprise was Celestino. He seems far more durable than Buxton and got a bit better with hitting as the season went on. He also has a pretty good arm and speed. Plays the ball well and had a good read on most balls hit out to CF and gaps. Get: Starting pitching and catching with some decent coaches. Only my opinions. Twins Geezer......out!
  5. Sano, no brainer, Kepler's time has come. IMO I would move Buxton, (if he agreed) and keep the steady clutch Polanco. He can play short, second or DH. Use Arraez and Gordon to keep the bats in the lineup. Shortstop is the question for the infield. Get some pitching! Twins Geezer....out!
  6. A good read. If the Twins really wish to think of competing, then Correa is the expensive answer. Lewis could be the answer but that depends on his comeback from the injury. Gordon, Polanco, Arraez, Urshela, and Miranda provide huge upside to hitting and infield capabilities making the Correa dream one we could live without if we have to. Our outfield is solid in Garlick, Kirilloff and Larnach can stay healthy. Celestino provided a pleasant surprise and the dude can field. I have lower opinions at this point of Buxton and Kepler. One is too fragile and the other can't hit above .240. Catching is a black hole right now. Bullpen is pretty solid. Starting pitching is a very large QUESTION MARK!!!! Twins Geezer..........out!
  7. The great hibernation that takes place after the season ends until spring training begins. Let's hope something drastic and surprising happens. Go Twins!

  8. Mediocrity is what the Twins seem to wish for. If we head into the season with Jeffers as #1, we will continue this. Go Twins! Twins Geezer.....out!
  9. Arraez, Correa, Urshela, then Miranda. That's the club for 2022. Twins Geezer.............out!
  10. Correct. The guy was a stud. Had Lewis stayed healthy, perhaps a different story. Miranda put up a great year, but Duran was consistent. Twins Geezer............out!
  11. The Twins have surplus problems in the OF. Buxton has been injured nearly every year. As a result, we have learned that we can live without him. Yes, he hits for power. Yes, he is gifted in the field. That's it. He cannot play if injured and that is a massive amount of time. So let's just move on from him. Cave, Kirilloff, Garlick and our other OF members need to play regularly. Most of our players are injury prone to patrol the field. It's a 50/50 call. Personally, I would see where Buxton would like to play, trade him and then find three guys that can bring physical health to the team while being able to hit above .260 with some pop. Kepler might hit better with the shift gone, but his lifetime average is .240's. Our Forest Lake rookie needs to improve his fielding, but that will come. As of now, I would go with Garlick, Kirilloff, Walner in the corners and Celestino in center. Celstino only hit .240 and that should improve with another year. He showed speed, a good glove and consistency. Not the best of solutions, but it works with the outfielders we have and would get us something in return, which is needed by trading Kepler and Buxton. Time to move on from those guys. Thank you for your service. Remember, only my opinion. There are a variety of other ideas from out Twins fans out there that might be better or just as good. Twins geezer..............out!
  12. Congratulations to Luis Arraez for the batting crown. Skill over a long season. Class. Enjoyment. Thank you to great efforts from Urshela, Gordon, Correa, Miranda, Ryan and Duran. Honorable mention to Thielbar, Jax, Cave (hustle award). The rest of the guys thank you for representing the Twins. Rest up. Do better in 2023. Nice way to go out with a win! Twins Geezer........out!
  13. I commend you for writing about loss after loss. Good for Palacios! Wishing Luis the batting crown. Good Grief this club has mailed it in..... Twins Geezer .....out!
  14. Completely uninspiring manager! I've been a fan since the start of the Twins. I love the Twins and will support, but this is the worst manager I have seen in the dugout. Either a complete incompetent mind or a complete puppet to the top guys..........either, he was a better player. Twins Geezer ..... out!
  15. The season long plague continues. Get a couple of runs early and then forget where the plate is and what this wooden thing each player carries to the plate really is used for.........Oh how hard it is to be a Twins fan............this manager is just the worst. Go Twins................Twins Geezer out!
  16. Uggghhhhhhhhhhh! Incredible how many times uninspired play can become even further uninspired. Yawn.............I can't wait to see Professor Baldelli lead us in 2023 (cough, cough). Go Twins! Twins Geezer.....out!
  17. Keep him, sign him, play him daily. Solid as a rock. Low key. Durable. Proven. Kirillof is too fragile. It would be great to see Correa stay, but that is questionable. Gordon and Royce Lewis upon return can cover many positions. Play Arraez at second and spelling at first. Miranda can DH and alternate at 3rd with Urshela. The OF has plenty of capable players with Larnach, Garlick, Celestino, Cave, Contreras. I don't mention Kepler or Buxton. I would trade them for pitching. Buxton has the long contract but has teams he would allow to go to. Kepler probably has some value, as he is a great defensive fielder but the bat is soft. No shifts will help his average. Buxton is just a mess physically and could DH and play limited games for teams in the field but would allow the Twins to get a top flight starter or starter and relief. Only my thoughts. Above all this, I would clean house in the coaching ranks starting with the esteemed Mr. Baldelli. It matters not who we have or where we play them, he will not inspire this team to win. It's funny that once we crumble into third place this guy starts sacrificing, bunting, stealing and letting pitchers actually get into the 6th and 7th innings. Ughhhh. GO TWINS! Twins geezer............out!
  18. Wow. See where Mr. Buxton would prefer to go on his contract list of teams and unload the guy. Keep Correa. The best SS we have had in decades. Unload Sano, Kepler, a few on the pitching staff, our catchers (maybe Sanchez gets on more year), the coaching staff. Celestino plays center pretty well. He will improve his hitting. Wallner needs to improve his fielding, but he is a massive talent and young. Miranda, Arraez, Gordon are solid and with Royce Lewis ready later next year, the infield with Urshela would be untouchable. Cave could be a good reserve fielder as he has good skills, speed, attitude and can hit when given a chance. That leaves Garlick, Larnach and Kiriloff to go for the remaining outfield spots. Pitching, Pitching, Pitching.........focus on that. Twins Geezer............out!
  19. At the Saints game last night and it was a pretty good game for them until Smeltzer came in and was CRUSHED. He looked as if there was zero interest in being there and the results showed that. Fun field to see a game with great views anywhere you are in the park. Ex-Twins Rooker played left for the Storm and hit one out and made one very poor throw from the field missing the cut-off. Saints won. Good defense for the most part and a heck of a lot of line drives last night! Twins Geezer............out!
  20. Love the guy in the field. Smooth, powerful arm, incredible sense before the ball is hit and what to do. His bat is a liability at this point with so many younger options that we have seen this year in the field. I think this is one ballplayer that would benefit from a different system and probably revive skills he does have. He will not benefit from our coaching staff. A fan favorite, but we need to change out some and add some better pitching consistency and catching improvement. We have other massive outfield individuals that need to be changed out also. Max has been one fun player his first several years, but the last two have really been grinds for the team, the fans and I am sure for Max too. Let him go somewhere not in our division. GO TWINS! Twins Geezer..........out!
  21. I'm plagued by SAD and BAD (Baldelli and Data)! Express elevator going down! GO TWINS! Twins Geezer...........out
  22. The fork has been stuck in it! Ahhhhh for the lost dreams of small ball and actually bringing a runner in. The most uninspiring, unimaginative, stubborn manager I believe I have ever seen in a Twins dugout. Put him in the batting rack and get another guy. This guy is bad news! Go Twins! Twins geezer...... out!
  23. The same song. Score early and then forget where home plate resides. This team has some very good players lacking the support of a quality coaching group. Can the entire coaching staff in the off-season! Oh, and get a conditioning coach. Hopefully Professor Baldelli rides off into the sunset. Next year comes early! Go Twins! Twins Geezer.........out!
  24. The Twins characteristic flaw was present once again. Score a couple early and then forget what to do with a bat during a plate appearance. No anti-virus shot for this. Now for my dream.........Professor Baldelli vanishes from the Twins payroll to appear elsewhere in the Central Division where he manages the other team as he does this one and we beat the daylights out of his team with singles, a good bullpen, good baserunning and no computer decisions cemented into the game plan before a pitch is thrown. A guy can dream...... Back to reality. Cleveland is better. Cleveland is managed far better. Cleveland rocks this year. Go Twins..........Twins Geezer. out!
  25. Fun to watch some great defense game after game from the Twins! Two ouchies that will hurt us if not corrected in the next hill to climb in Cleveland. First, we need to stop hitting into double plays and swinging at first pitches. Second, get some runs throughout the game. This crazy score 3 or 4 in the first or second and then hang on is so weird to watch. We will have most of our answers in Cleveland after game one. Go Twins! Twins geezer..... out!
