  1. This is the case of the rumor is worse than the facts. Every GM is going to expect the Twins to make changes. Every GM is going to want to fleece TR by giving a suspect for a major league ballplayer. I do not expect changes until July and then only if teams suffer a major injury and need a Twins Player to compete and fill the hole. This is almost sure to happen, but which Twins get traded is completely dependent on this. At the current time almost no Twins major leaguer has any trade value except as a salary dump, get used to it.
  2. Would prefer Dougie, if Twins go outside Dave Martinez would be fine. Dougie assets 1. Most of younger Twins players have played for him(and won), they already know what he expects. 2. Is not afraid to show up players by yanking them for bonehead plays. expects head to be in game. 3. Winner, teams have won most of the time.
  3. Sorry bad semantics on my part. Bottom line is, he now is too expensive to trade with this production or to just cut our losses at the end of the year and not offer him a contract. He needs a new voice or significant bench time to get the message across. This is usually done in the minor leagues, so do not have a solution. I guess the best thing is to hope he improves slightly and then trade him in July for what we can get and put Polanco in that spot. Just wish 2 years ago we could have gotten a good return.
  4. Too late now, I would have dealt Dozier about 2 years ago. Pitchers union caught up and Dozier does not seem to make adjustments. Now I would put him on the bench and let Polanco play. If his approach does not change, would consider ending his scholarship. Extending him was a very bad move, now you can't afford to DGA him.
  5. Still feel about 3 of the starting pitchers in Ft. Myers should be moved up. Chatanooga does not have great starting pitching so moving some of those off the club should not be a problem.
  6. Agreed Chargois should be in Minnesota and the rest need to move up the line. Their are more who probably need a promotion, starting with Gordon, but this is a good list.
  7. Hitting seems to be an issue in the lower minors, Is this because the Twins have focused on drafting pitchers the last few years, or just their minor league hitting at lower levels is not that good. Wade and Gordon seem to be the only two hitting names I see a lot in these reports.
  8. Rosario needed to go down, he was not helping the club at this time. How Molitor handled this tells me he needs to go. Stunts like this will destroy the confidence of young players and the wish to play for him as the manager. Time to give a better people person a shot(Dougie anyone).
  9. I am also in the group who thinks Molly should go. Bullpen is overused and a mess, youth is not playing when they are with the Twins. Go with Dougie for the time being or Gene Glynn and see what they can produce. Youth has to be served except for veterans playing to establish value before trades. Remember before the last good years there were last place finishes in the years prior or two years prior to the twins becoming good.
  10. Short starts have been killing the bullpen the last few weeks. Twins just needed another body up here. Happens all the time in the majors. Berrios will be back, season is already lost, calm down.
  11. Plouffe and Dozier have to hit to have value. Best bet of moving Plouffe was to the Yankees as Headley is not hitting. That ship may have sailed as Yankees drift out of contention. Opportunities will present themselves, Twins just have to move the players when they do. 1/2 of the pitching staff is unmoveable, so some of the pitchers will have to moved, that can wait until this coming offseason, as the replacements will not be ready until 2017 if not 2018.
  12. Understand somewhat Polanco, though you can rotate him 5-6 days a week through 3 infield positions. Plouffe and Dozier need to build trade value as at this point they are only trade chips. Cannot afford to sell low, so hope they get hot and injuries force other contenders to buy Twins players at a mid point. Selling just to sell is selling very low and that is a problem. Relief help is further away, but agree May should be closing. Jepsen needs to be used in lower pressure situations until he can control his offspeed pitches.
  13. We need to move some of Fort Myers starters to Chatanooga. Seem to have 6 in the rotation and Chatanooga needs starting help as most of their starters seem to be orginization filler.
  14. Murphy is a much better catcher, except at this time for the hitting It was quoted in another thread on this site that the ERA with Murphy catching was about 1/2 of what Suzuki catching was. If the Twins were hitting better that would be more important
  15. Pitching wise, I feel they will be fine. They have Berrios and Duffy here now, with Meyer, Stewart, Gonsalves, Romero, Rosario, Thorpe, Jorge and others in the minors. If 1/3 of these are major league starters, Twins pitching will be fine. Bullpen has there own crop coming. Hitting not so sure, but Twins should have money for free agents to fix whatever holes show up, Catcher for one.
  16. The last couple of weeks, Molitor looked like he was over his head. Some of it is a bad bullpen, some of it is not removing pitchers early enough. It is time to bring up the kids and let them struggle. For sure Buxton and Kepler need some more time in AAA, but using about 5 AAA types will not work, unless you feel the talent is just not ready. If Twins have another bad week at home, you have to change the manager, maybe Dougie style will work for a while. At least players will be benched for bonehead plays.
  17. True, but you can't fire 25 players. Not Paul's fault totally but usually the manager takes the fall for this much underperformance. Another week of losing might be the end for Paul. Look up, he can't be enjoying this.
  18. We will find out in the next years. If all of the position players he has drafted turn out to be AAAA types, then the whole philosophy must change. Sano and Kepler do not count as they were signings and look to be the best of the bunch. If Buxton does not turn out they you are valid to ask why he was the only one of the top 5 to fail.
  19. Value takes time to happen or injuries to occur on pennant condending ballclubs. That is when you lose a player for most of the rest of the year and feel you must make a deal to make the playoffs. Hopefully both Plouffe and Dozier will be traded at that point, along with Nolasco, and Gibson. Hughes could well be untradeable and santana will be too valueable going forward, though I would trade Santana if I felt the deal was right.
  20. Do not understand Pat Dean, Kintzler will function as a long reliever, which the Twins have needed since the start of the season. I see no use for Pat Dean, but will shall see.
  21. I see Polanco as more of a 2nd baseman, not SS. Twins have those coming and Escobar is a good player for the timebeing. Twins have 3 months to move off the older players, see if they can do it. Remember 1984 was followed by 1985-1986 where the Twins were bad before they became good in 1987. 1991 was preceded by 1990 were the Twins finished last. The late 1990's where small payroll, rookies up until the Twins became good again in 2001. It is not a straight line to contention year in and year out. Still would like to see 2 or 3 of the starters in Fort Myers to be moved up to Chattanooga. This will bring them closer to the majors and let the Twins see what they can do at that level. A fair amount of the upper level starters are retreads and filler at this time, no need to be afraid to make changes. Twins need to move 1 - 2 of their starters to make room. In the next 3 months this should not be hard as injuries will certainly make need for some contending clubs to give the Twins more than a bag of balls for some of their veteran major league pitchers.
  22. RIght now Twins players are not worth very much. I also am sure other GM are calling trying to get prospects or players who are down for as little as they can. I feel Dozier or Plouffe can bring back some value, more for Dozier than Plouffe. Maybe see if Yankees are interested in Plouffe for like Severino(who is pitching badly and is being considered for demotion). They may be more parts to be moved, but just using this as a start. Padres would like more of a salary dump. Do not see that as helping the Twins.
  23. There were several of us posters who advocated that move.
  24. Part of the process of finding out what the Twins have. Twins need to find out if Polanco can hit and field at the major league level, I believe he will handle 2nd base just fine. With the swing and miss in most of the Twins hitters, Dozier could be packed for something good and Polanco would be more than an average replacement.
  25. Nice article. I do feel you have to move on from Molitor. Dougie will catch the attention of those who have dealt with him and will hold players accountable. If we assume this year is lost, then how the rest of the year is handled will make a big difference on Ryan status. At this time we need to move on from the vets(we still have over 3 months to do this and see what the youngsters can do, this is a setback, but unless we assume that the Twins talent evaluation is totally bogus, the end of year should bring some clarity of what we have in the minors.
