Dozier will be 33 when the Twins are able to compete(2019). Unless you extend him, I would trade him for the right offer. Keeping him while not bad if an offer does not meet what I want is not bad, but do not consider him part of the core.

Think his back will improve next year with a regular regime. That would be almost forcing him back to starting. You could replace him with Duffey in the bullpen, he has worked their before.

Dodgers have Chase Utley as their 2nd baseman and 2 young starting pitchers in Urias and De Leon. That looks to me like the bases of a trade. Dodgers also have about 5 more starting pitchers under contract(Kershaw, Anderson, Madea, McCartney, Kazmir). They also are in win now mode. You may not make a deal here, but looks like it would be a place to start. If you do not get what you want, you can pass. But Urias in particlular would look good in a Twins uniform. Dodgers also do not care about money, so you would not have to worry about salary back.

I read somewhere that Pohlad may be willing to spend some money this winter, wrong type of pitchers available. Need new baseball director to convince him we need to save the money and find out which youngsters can contribute to the next Twins good teams. Would rather Pohlad spent the money in the international market and got at least one top international player. Mc Leod really interests me as a great contributor, who may well be ready to take the next step. Background of finding players is excellent. Ng would be fine, just feel others would better. Piccolo could be fine, just not as confident. Seems he has already been interviewed when KC came through last week.

It's about time. Just sign him and give him total control.

Dozier is the only player the Twins have that can bring you decent upside starting pitching. Otherwise we will be looking at 2 years of bad pitching until the younger core arrives and the Twins can figure out what they have. By that time Dozier's contract will be over and he will be past his prime.

Still think the best thing would be to trade Dozier if the return is good. Shortstops are coming and EE is an OK stopgap. Third base should be Sano's and Plouffe should be gone. Unless you make Sano the full time DH and then you have other issues with Park and Vargas. Same old, Same old. Molitors rotations make no sense and I would have fired him in May.

You have other options if you decide to non-tender Plouffe. Gordon should be at AA this year and Vielma could be a defense only SS if you need to punt for a year or two. Plouffe just ties up money for one more year, but do not want to have to make Sano a DH only at this time. Gibson I would also consider non-tendering. He has not improved and is getting expensive. He also stands in the way of a shuffle starting pitching rotation in 2017 to determine the way forward. You should be able to trade him, just expect you will not get much for him. Outside of Pressley, I do not see much in the bullpen. May needs to start because of his back issues, so door needs to be opened and see what we have in upcoming young arms. 2017 may well not be pretty, but it should lay the foundation for better times. If you go this route, it would not be fair to Molitor to blame him for the wins and losses, so cut ties now and give a new voice a couple or three years to see where this goes.

Would not mind AA, would much prefer Mc Leod from the Cubs.

Mets have no idea what they have at this time, so making a deal this offseason would be tough. Dodgers you have some options, possibly like adding Stewart to the deal and taking an equal prospect at a lower level. This could be worked out as Dodgers are in win now mode.

I do not see a reason to give Suzuki AB's the remainder of this year. This is a talent evaluation period, not a help an old vet period. Zuke and his rep must understand this. It could also be part of the do we offer a contract to Zuke next year because we are not happy with our options. All this figures in, but you cannot make decisions without some knowledge how other players are playing.

Congratulations to Gonsalves. Will need to see in the next 2 years how many of these are prospects and how many are suspects. Still do not see Wheeler as more than a stopgap, though he may function as that in the next couple of years, but would not add to 40 man unless I had extra spots(and I do not think I will)

You don't need to trade Dozier for a sure ace. You need to trade Dozier for Urias or someone of like promise plus more and sign an ace after the 2017 season.

Nice list and fairly close to what I hope happens. Grossman, Centeno, and Santana are the only ones who I might have to spring training next year. To get to the correct numbers, I could well add Tonkin and Wimmers to the list(Wimmers is close). That is before you make some trades. Would also not mind non tendering Gibson as he does not seem to be progressing. My biggest worry is that the new regime may not be in place early enough to make these decisions, so Anthony and company may make them without knowledge of what the new staff will want.

You cannot have more than 1 5 inning starter on your staff. Santiago is better than Gibson, so time to send Gibson packing.

Would rather have Park or possibly sign Morneau, both whom are decent firstbasemen. Vargas may be a mistake, but do not see him being here. Clear salary to make a run at an ace or two after the 2017 season. Make sure you have an open pitching spot or two to up and coming youngsters to try. Plouffe does not fit in the roster construction, so if you can not trade him then non-tender him. If he does not get an offer by Feb, you can always check on his new asking price.

Lots of moveable parts. Centeno may still be here, but no loss either way. Do not trust Vargas, might rather see them take a run at Morneau if that is the best you can do, and start with Park in Rochester. Palka and Walker are the same type of players and would prefer to have them show improvement in Rochester and keep Grossman as the 4th outfielder to start. Rotation looks fine except for Gibson, who I hope will not be here. Bullpen - Tonkin should be gone, Hughes or Wimmers can be your long man. Perkins could go either way, and maybe another minor leaguer will take the last spot. Not bad, but I have a few different choices.

I would want at least 1 top 50 player/pitcher(prefered) to give up Dozier. That is plus whatever else he is worth. Twins have a 2018 - 2019 timeframe and by that time Dozier will be in decline or gone after 2018. If you cannot get a decent couple of pieces then pass and try and move him next summer. But he should be moved with his very good contract for very good pieces in the next year.

Twins do not seem to feel that Wheeler is better than other options, do not know what that says for his future in the orgainization, but it cannot be good. However he is another soft tossing lefty(maybe a little harder than some of the other options). Twins will have many decisions on who to protect and extra choices just mean more players will be DFA'ed at the end of the season. Only players that should be added to the 40 man are ones the Twins have already decided to protect and have the possibility of being here next year. I expect Berrios and Duffey will be called up at some time, also Vargas and Murphy possibly Walker. Outside of that let the kids play and do not clutter players on the bench, so the players up can get some meaningful September AB's.

We are 6 games behind the 28th place team(s). We are also except for the White Sox playing almost all contenders this month. Do not expect this will happen.

Maybe this is all part of the plan to play Buxton only in favorable matchups and if this does not work ticket him for AAA for a part of next year unless he destroys the league. People develop at different paces, do not hopefully give up on him yet.

Twins will be difficult to fix and time is short. They have yet to hire a GM or president of baseball operations. Let us look at the timeline(assuming they are waiting to interview candidates until the teams they work for season has ended.) By mid November(shortly after the end of the World Series, you have to have your 40 man roster set, and players waived, added, and lists made up. This was usually done in the front office meetings in early November. Now most of you posters expect a new president of baseball operations and GM to have absorbed this in less than 2 weeks(worst case scenario). If I am an opposing GM, I love this prospect. I would not give the Twins anything for any of their players unless my people told me I am winning the trade. I would have a list drawn up by my people of the players our organization would want and good rule 5 draft picks from the Twins. Unless you intend to DFA about 20 of the Twins current roster, I should have plenty of opportunities here. This could be a bigger mess than most of you believe. Pohlad was probably too loyal and too nice to either make a change early in the year(though I would have fired Molitor rather than removed TR). Given his choice, I would have waited until the end of the year or slightly later and than fired TR Do any of you have confidence in Rob Anthony to make the correct choices, or just maintain the ship knowing he is also not going forward with the organization(at least in any personal role). I dread the next 3 months, guessing how many mistakes will be made in the transition and how many will come back to bite the Twins in the next few years. You just do not DFA useful major league players, but that is what it may come to with this roster construction and numbers of minor leaguers needed to protect.

You all forget about Hughes, who may or may not make it back. That will also affect the rotation. Believe you have to keep Santiago, at least to start. Maybe you have to trade Santiago or Gibson or both to free up room for starters (May/Duffey/Gonsalves/Mejia) as innings are needed to see who can pitch and who will not have spots here in two years. Cannot have constant rebuilding program, but better pitchers have to work way to top and do not believe much in the current crop outside of Santana. Bullpen already has 5 - 6 members so spots there should be difficult to get as Perkins(if healthy), Pressley, Kinizler, Rogers, and possibly either Duffey or May are slotted there. That only leaves 2 openings or 1 if you count Chargois). Then pen should be OK with more experience, but also could be bolstered by several pitchers in the upper level of the minors.

You are close. I would trade Dozier for starting pitching, if the offer is good. Plouffe should be gone, and that would free up another spot(D. Santana or other options). Do not believe Palka should be a bench bat, either play him or have him in Rochester. Youth on the bench usually does not equal good results. Believe the May - Duffey switch could happen, so this was a good catch. Do not think Twins will give Santiago away for free, but with new GM, who knows. New GM scares me, do not think a top flight person will take the job knowing the owner will interfere. That leaves Rob Anotony and other lesser options. Much will be known after the end of the year.

I would trade Dozier in a heartbeat for a number 2 starter and a good prospect(sell high). He is having a career year and cash it in. He will be 32-33 by the time the Twins are ready and on the expensive downside of his career. Many of the big market teams could use Dozier(and his contract) and most have sellable pitching assets. You can never have enough pitching, so let's get started. That would clear 2nd base for Polanco and have one of the logjams out of the way(along with Dozier's feast or famine types of years). Move Gibson, Santiago, and whatever other older pitchers you can. Twins will struggle next year, but if you do not see what you have in the upper levels of the farm system, how can you make decisions on which pitchers are keepers and which are not. Players figure things out at different rates, just because some of them seem not to figure thing out does not mean it cannot happen. Most of the new major leaguers start between 25 -27 and are done in 4 - 8 years. The earlier ones are a bonus. New GM needs to clean out the entrenched minor league staff(maybe except for Chad Allan, Dougie, and Jake Mauer) and figure out why the players the Twins have coming up so lack in fundamentals ​. Rest of organization can stay until a better analysis is done. Much of it is hit and miss.
