maybe you start Keaschall at second or Martin for the short term. Lee can recover and regain form in St. Paul. If France is not the issue then move Laurnach to 1B and bring up Rodriquez when he is ready (should be about the same time). We need to move forward with the youth and see what they have. If all else fails move some pitching depth for a major league 2B (should not be too difficult by June)

With a better than 50 - 50 chance of a lockout after the 2026 season, that uncertainty is going to affect the price. Rich people do not like uncertainty. That will tend to drive the price lower, and it may well not make the Pohlad's an offer they can accept. My feeling is unless Glenn Taylor steps up after the Wolves sale goes through, this team could well linger on the market until after the baseball financials are resolved sometime in 2027.

More that likely the Chicago owner preferred them to Nashville group. And the White Sox owners are probably going to sell the team within a few years. Bigger market, more money. It makes too much sense. Only issue is if they can't get a new stadium, but teams usually win this argument.

I am hoping the new owners want to win and will spend some money (do not expect crazy money) Still waiting to see what the market brings (if anything), but just improved health will probably be a win this year. That with some growth to the players that come up last year.

Posters above have also seemed to have missed Morris who ranks above most of the last listers. St. Paul rotation should be stacked with plenty of talent to call up. Not worried about starting pitching.

What this article implies is that Rodriquez will be in the Twins outfield before the end of the season. That starts the question, do you move Laurach or Wallner to 1B, or do they become trade bait this spring. Also the 2B from wichita last year either needs to be on this list, or does the author have heard something about a trade? Interesting questions to be answered.

For me it depends on how good the catcher is. If he is good enough to make the roster and move Vasquez elsewhere, it has it chances, and you can never have enough pitching. I am a big bullpen guy, but some of the Twins minor league starters will have to end up in the pen or gone. It seems better than many of the Pablo trades I have seen where you are getting prospects in the 4 - 10 range from lower or much lower ranked farm systems. On the fence about this one, but if it will move Vasquez and his 10 million and Paddock and his 7.5 off the roster, it has some merit.

This is a one year deal with no hope of a second if the Twins want to contend. You might as well move Laurach to 1st as he will probably be there starting next year (unless traded). Julien and Miranda are not options, but Miranda will probably end up there to start the year. Maybe in our best plans Rodriquez or Jenkins win a spot in spring training and it becomes problem solved. Or we get another option in a trade.

Since it is unlikely a buyer would be able to negotiate buying out the lease, you would probably have to find a technical violation to start opening the door, that is what I meant by sharp lawyers. I have known a few, but not the real estate type.

Nothing is going to change until we get a new set of owners. Probably one reason that Levine left/was not renewed, he wanted to upgrade and spend money. Twins are not good at the Cleveland/Tampa Bay model, and Kansas City/Detroit will spend money this offseason. Previous poster was correct, there is not a line to buy this club unless they can move it. And for you optimists, leases are made to be broken, just takes sharp lawyers. So unless the loser of the Timberwolves fight decides to buy the Twins, we are probably stuck with what we have. We go the Tampa Bay and Cleveland route of selling off better players for prospects we believe will work and build on pitching. Or you have to decide to spend money, the middle course does not work for a solution.

Twins Trade Candidate Breakdown: Griffin Jax
beckmt replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If you trade Jax, you might as well hit the soft rebuild and see if Correra will waive a no trade clause (and hope your scouts hit on returns. It probably means moving Lopez and building what should be the #1 farm system. to the FO, if you do this you had better be right, not for the Pohlads , but for the new owners who might have a different view of your contributions. -
Emmanuel Rodriguez Is Coming In Hot
beckmt replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
My point is to get something good you have to give something good. While I might prefer Laurnach, Wallner probably has more value at this time, so to get an above average pitcher (like a #2 starter), you are going to have to give some quality. Wallner has a combination of one more year of cheap value and another year of moderate pricing. That could be a good value to a cheap club (like Pittsburg), who may have some decent starters starting to cost more. So the ingredients for a deal are there. -

My point is to get something good you have to give something. Pittsburg is cheap, therefore Wallner is the better fit for a very good return. Yes, it may not work out, but you can't have enough pitching. Twins have EROD and Jenkins coming, and I am tired out not being able to score runs from third and less than 2 outs, by strikeouts by too many Twins hitters. -
Emmanuel Rodriguez Is Coming In Hot
beckmt replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I would rather trade Wallner, who is a 3 outcome type of player. Larnach at least shows signs of being able to spray the ball than just all pull. Plus Wallner is cheaper and maybe a few cheaper players Julien, etc would move the needle with a club like Pittsburg to bring back some pitching. -
I am fine with expecting growth from the young players. I also expect a few trades to consolidate some of the young talent. Martin, Keirsey, Hellman may be just fine, but are they suited to bench roles. Martin will have to be to be useful up here (unless we trade or non-tender Castro). Lee, Lewis and the rest should benefit from other years experience, but they have to not wear out during the season, Conditioning was horrible.

There also have been a lot of teams using that ploy to get a favorable term new ballpark built with a great revenue stream. We don't know if that is the case here. But if those talks fail, they will tourn their attention here. Other club to watch is Tampa Bay, with it unlikely to fix Tropicana field and at least 3 years before a new park is built , if ever.

Stewart wants to move the club to Nashville. Their are other big money people out there who have a home city they want to move a club into. Be careful what you wish for. Leases are fairly easy to break depending on how much money the new owners are willing to fork over. Plus the Twins would be cheaper than the White Sox and a better product at this time. They would be harder to move however.

I don't call Roderiquez or Jenkins exactly chopped liver. That is why we could spare a Wallner with others in a trade, only problem I see is payroll expense. But a good drawing club would certainly help the bottom line, as would getting playoff home games. We are likely to get some revenue sharing due to the TV issue. Go for it.

I believe Raya and Morris are more highly rated than Zebby to start. I might package Zebby and other of our younger players to get more pitching. Twins do not have a lot of needs, just some players to grow into roles. I only would use the farm to bring in a front line starter, rest could be fine with more experience.

I did not see Portland as being viable, thought of Charlotte, but don't know if there is enough big money there and also the climate and storm issues. Nashville has plenty of big money, and probably a group of people who could come up with the money. Here unless Glenn Taylor decides he wants the club, don't see a money man who could buy it. Maybe if Lore and A-Rod change their target, but don't know how welcome A-Rod would be in baseball.

My big concern is that some out of market player from another city offers Pohlad's an overpay. Moving a club is not the difficult if you have good lawyers working for you. Two cities I am concerned with are Nashville and Salt Lake City. Don't know what the Pohlad's are thinking, but am worried that all the negative publicity is wearing on them and they may not care who they sell it to, only that the buyer meets their price.

Pohlad Family Greed Killed the 2024 Twins
beckmt replied to Cody Schoenmann's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
One of the Twins problems is that times have changed around here. There is competition for the sports dollar in this town and at the current time the Twins rank 4 out 4 major teams when it comes to fan support. Wild and vikings(unless hopeless) were always going to be better, but now basketball has put a very good team for the fans to support. Twins need to get the revenue stream figured out, but to get the fans to the park, they have to put a better product on the field. Or better leadership. Ticket prices for all sports are out of my range and the Twins are the cheapest of the 4. But this club is boring. They have still not caught up to what the other clubs have done. Pitching is getting there, but the hitting approach sucks to say the least. And that starts in the minors, not up here.- 65 replies

I hope you have not forgotten Raya and Morris. I believe Raya has the best stuff, so in my opinion Matthews will start in st Paul, and he may not be the first man up. If is was not for the payroll, I would try and cash Matthews and another prospect in to extract a better starting pitcher. Don't know what the winter will bring, it should be interesting, because I can see either Raya or Morris starting here in front of Matthews.

The biggest indictment to me is that Tito Franconia was out there and he is one of the best managers ever. Cincinatti is supposed to have hired him. Are we so deaf as to not hear about that. Unless you think that Cincinatti is better than the Twins, we probably could have gotten him, with the FO known to him. IF they stumble out of the gate next year (the division is going to be better) what do we do then. Actually hoping an owner like Glen Taylor buys the team, he wants to win.
