  1. Twins need to be around a .500 team. You need to sell tickets to keep the money coming in. Gibson will be here once we see if he can be consistent and dominate with control and stuff at AAA. Repeats of last year are not needed. I think Gibson will be fine. Whether he will make the club out of spring training is a question. Worley will factor into these decisions, best guess is he will be traded or waived at the end of spring training.
  2. Kubel expects to make this team, but do not think that is a sure thing. If he makes the team Parmelee is gone. You need to give at bats to Arcia and hopefully Willingham at DH. Anyother plan makes no sense.
  3. Deduno could be a #3 starter, based on movement and performance. He should be the first option for the #5 slot.
  4. I like Kodak, keep stocking those pitchers, you can live without a good or very good shortstop, do not see Turner rated as great or can't miss You probably have a 1 in 3 chance of pitchers that develop taken in the first two rounds, so you need as many of these as you can get.
  5. Do not think Kubel is guaranteed a roster spot. Just think he is one of the options, my best guess is that his main roster competition is Parmelee, and if Kubel makes it Parmelee is gone. This was a good trade as it freed a roster spot from a player who was not in the Twins plans.
  6. Depends on whether he is so good in AAA, he forces his way up here. That is what TR is hoping.
  7. I feel also it is the money. If the Twins lose 90+ games again this year season ticket base will take a big hit next year with no All Star game to inflate the season ticket base. They had to move this year or be in a spiral where the base will not come back until the Twins start winning again.
  8. Rollins has a full no trade clause, so don't expect him to come here.
  9. All righties does not bother me if their splits are decent. If you have a righty an opponent can load their lineup with lefties and do well, that could be an issue.
  10. You can never have too much pitching. With the minor league starters the Twins were running out there last year, this is not a bad move. Most of the starters for the Twins last year should not have been wearing major league uniforms. This also gives some depth incase of injuries.
  11. Happy for this signing. Speaks volumes on how the organization feels about Parmelee.
  12. Nor interested in Maholm, probably not much better than Diamond. His numbers are from the National league and do not think he will fare well in the American.
  13. If you want to go a different direction, how about a contract for Brian Roberts and move Dozier to SS. Really help the offense, Roberts was a plus defender and leadoff hitter when healthy. Also maybe Grady Sizemore. That would help the outfield if he is healthy.
  14. I also agree. Twins need to find out what they have and move on from the failures(either in 2014 or 2015). I think Parmelee is going to be a failure and needs to be sold now to get any value.
  15. It is unrealistic to presume everything going right vs everything going wrong(It was close to that last year). Pitching is still the name of the game and the Twins do not have enough. The pickups will bring our starting rotation from horrible to below average. Do believe that Gibson and Meyer will be here sometime this year, but only to have them get the experience in the majors before the Twins try to compete. Much on how this division shakes out depends on whether the Tigers hurt or helped themselves this offseason. Still agree that the Twins are 2-3 years away against the 1-2 years most of the posters believe.
  16. Not in on Arroyo, but not totally opposed either Do not think the Twins will land any of Garza, Tanaka, or Meada(who according to mlbtraderumors could also be posted this winter). Would rather leave room for rebound projects or buylow candidates and improve either the infield or the outfield for 1-2 years.
  17. Mastro would probably be DFA'ed. Davis would be a 4th outfielder or a starting CF option depending upon how others do. Might also show the Parmelle is not in the Twins plans.
  18. Buck would be OK, do not view Chris Hermann as a solution. Would like another pitcher, possibly in a trade if price is right. The ones mentioned above would be fine, though not as in on Hellickson as some of the rest.
  19. Yankees are betting on ARod being suspended to stay under the luxury tax. They have now signed 5 major FA's (Jeter,Beltran, Kuroda, McCann,Ellsbury). They will not be able to afford throwing the 15-20 million a year to sign him without paying the luxury tax. That is also why a mid market team could win the bidding war. Very good pitching is going to cost money. Yankees will have to get creative with their money spending. This does not count their other big money player(Sabathia, Texraria) and the mid level players Suzuki, etc.
  20. Would not have done it, but good for Seattle, and also good for baseball. Was glad to see another agent that Scott Boras deliver the goods. Yankees are heading for the second division as they do not have the pitching to compete. This should help Seattle attract front line FA's to the West Coast. Also Seattle has the pitching to make some of these deals to get enough hitting worthwhile. They still have work to do, but way to go.
  21. Would depend on the price, and I would want a timeframe for an extension to be signed. Giving away much for 2 years is not worth it, especially when you don't rate to contend this upcoming year.
  22. I would take the chance if it was for a mid-tier prospect or reliever. I agree this looks like a salary dump and it should not take a ton to get him. If he works out great(we are probably contenders in the next 2 years) if not 8 million while not good is not the end of the world. TR should be able to work it out.
  23. Hudson might be worth a shot. Or a pitcher or two on a best case chance. Do not see any players that would make a difference and might block talent on the way up
  24. Do not see signing him as a bad move. Pinto needs a mentor for training in the art of catching.
  25. JP Arencibia was (according to mlbtraderumors) not tendered. I think he might be a better option and cheap. If he does not work out, not much of a loss.
