  1. Worley has been in the pen before and I believe that is where he will be to start. Pressly will be sent to Rochester because he has options until the Twins sort out the logjam. Do not know if Gibson will win the 5th spot, my guess is Deduno and Gibson will come up after some trades are made. Twins have to be careful not to give away major league talent for long range(chancy) prospects, but TR has been known to get good value in these trades.
  2. Almost a full Twins lineup. Only one player almost sure not to be here when the regular season starts. Or two if you count Diamond. Should be fun.
  3. This sounds great for the future. Let's hope the future is soon.
  4. Looks like a win-win to me. If we do well it will be great, if we are buried then there is no reason for the front office not to bring up the next wave and let them learn at the major league level
  5. Morales would just be playing where Willingham should be playing (DH). By mid year if Willingham is still here, he probably will be playing DH most of the time. The only reason not to would be that all of outfield options would have failed and then we would still need a DH.
  6. Do not know if I can help, but took the survey.
  7. I think it will be Deduno if healthy, Worley to the pen(he has worked there before) and Diamond to the waiver wire. That will be the best Twins result.
  8. Seattle will want way more than the Twins are willing to pay for either, and I do not consider either to be a huge upgrade. I am talking probably one or more of the Twins 3 to 10 prospects.
  9. Would also take Kolek, unless something changes this spring, seems to me to be at worst a closer.
  10. I have played strato for many years, Pinto is worth a shot, there are very few catchers that are offensive threats even if it may be hard to live with the defense(I had Mike Piazza in a keeper league for many years). If you are just looking for a backup, with the possibility of being a starter, he may be your best choice. (Hard to do without knowing the number of teams in the league and the rules).
  11. Cardinals are in on him, that would be a good sign. Twins will have to make a great offer to get him, hope they do.
  12. Also hoping that Pinto wins the starting catchers job. Else he should be in AAA playing full time. Hopes he hits a ton and forces the Twins to give him the starting job.
  13. Bartlett was signed as an insurance policy in case Floriman does not improve and Jason looks like there is still some gas in the tank(unlikely). This is the type of no cost signings many teams do, we can still hope Santana can get here next year or that Polanco or Dozier can play SS when Rosario comes up. Do not need to spend dollars for a one year possible improvement.
  14. Still take the BPA, but I am hoping for Kolek. You can never have too much pitching.
  15. My feeling is that Parmalee goes away and possibly Diamond. Diamond might have some minor trade value and I would explore that now as I do not see him here by mid summer. Worley can work out of the pen and Deduno is too good to give up on.
  16. Do not see as happening, too many good young(cheaper) players who will be as good or almost as good in 2 years and the need to reallocate the dollars to holes that will have shown up by that time.
  17. My instinct tells me that Pressly is sent to AAA because of the options issue. Worley if he does not win the 5th starter(this depends on Deduno being healthy) will be in the bullpen(he has worked there before). That leaves Diamond being cut as the odd many out. Still to many starters and not enough innings to go around. Early spring training can tell, not to decide who wins, but who loses the battle. Twins probably need many multiple game days to get there inbetween pitchers enough innings to make a difference.
  18. Great forum, I enjoy it. Wish sometimes there was not the same arguments or close to threads over topics that seem to repeat. Keep up the good work. This is one of the two websites I tend to post on.
  19. Risk taking all around. Those who talk 4/30 are willing to let him walk at age 27 if he proves to be the real thing. Do not know his upside, but if we take the risk would not 6/60 or 7/70 be a better bet.
  20. Maybe the pickup was incase the Twins get an offer they want to clear some roster space. Duensing + x for a decent prospect or position player that has a chance to help the Twins this year and in the future. You can't make the moves unless the replacements or possible replacements are already in place.
  21. 1. Maybe Mauer will play 150 games and keep his OBA high. Extra power would be nice, but maybe he tried to do too much last year or was more dinged up then anyone thought. 2. Hopefully Sano will be here this year, almost certainly next. Will have to see how he does in AA or AAA to be sure. Chance of making the club in spring training 5%. 3. Probably not unless cup of coffee in September, if early he has been really good or club has been really bad. 4. Hughes is probably what he is A good #3 at best. Ballpark should help, but do not expect a frontline starter. 5. Hopefully 6. Meyer will have to help this club. Hopefully this year(After one of the starters is traded to make room for him). Will probably start in AAA, but would love to see him make the jump. 7. Hopefully Dozier continues to improve. That would always be a nice problem to have. Rosario was drug of abuse, Hopefully he learns his lesson. 8. It was Gibson's first full year back from TJ surgery. Let's see how he does this year as this year will go a long way in telling his future(50/50) 9. Hopefully never 10. Kubel making this team would be good news/bad news. 11. N/A 12. We all hope sometime during his Twin career. 40 a year in this ballpark would be great. 13. Too many to count. 14. N/A 15 N/A Wolves are a mess, maybe 8 more years in the non playoff mode. (Worst case Love leaves which make the trading of Williams one of the worst in Wolves history). All other good players leave at end of contract and Wolves have to start over.
  22. Go for it. We have extra money for the next few years and this would bring another player into the system that would have an upside. Not all will work, but any extra talent can always be used(even as a trade chip)
  23. I could be wrong on this, but my understanding is the team the releases the player is responsible for the contract and the buying team only pays the minimum, but the releasing team if in the offseason may only be responsible for a month of it. It makes a big difference if the Twins can sign him for $500 K and have KC pick up the rest. If it is only a month, then it could cost the Twins about 1.5 mil to sign him and he may have many better postseason opportunities to choose from.
  24. Success to me would be making progress in sorting out who is a prospect and who are suspects. Starting to revamp the roster to younger better players and less of the older gap fillers. That means the Willinghams and the Kubels have little place on this team long term, Willingham will hopefully have a good have year and be traded for more prospects, Kubel probably should not be on the team unless Parmelle is a failure(and I think he is). Hope Gibson or Meyer will be the fifth starter and think Worley will make the team either as a starter or a reliever. Pressly can be sent to AAA and see if he can be converted back to a starter. If he is kept as a reliever then TR will have to see if he can get anything for Worley or Diamond.
  25. It shows what the Twins think of Kepler. However it also starts the clock ticking. I doubt anyone would have taken him, and would be a problem stashing him for a year, but the Twins did not like the risk(plus they should have some 40 roster spots available at the end of spring training.(I am hoping several). So it was probably a decent move, but a surprising one for a player who has not played above A ball.
