  1. I think we do get a look at Darnell at some point this season, probably after Correria is gone, Meyer may wait for more consistency, May we also may see at some point(either he or Darnell are likely to be called up before Meyer). Meyer will be seen if the Twins fall out in the next two months otherwise probably will be September depending on innings pitched this year.
  2. No idea who will be the Twins SS of the future, but the only 2 prospects are Polanco and Michael and both are in Ft. Myers. Whether either will pan out is to be seen.
  3. He might even be good enough to be a starter(at least for a while).
  4. And well it could be. I noticed that most of the Twins wins came late against pitching that was not expected to(and did not make) the major league roster. Hope it can change, not counting on it.
  5. Was hoping to see many young players in the Twins uniforms this year. Will be better to watch when some of the youngsters arrive(between May and July is what I expect).

  7. Problem with going younger is that the younger Twins players have just hit AA. Most of the Twins AAA farm club is that the players have already have had their chances and failed. Wait until next year hopefully.
  8. This was a foregone conclusion when Gardy commented earlier this week that he did not know if Florimon would be ready to start the season. Florimon starts on the DL, Escobar is the SS and Bartlett is the UT. Twins either bring up Ramirez or Mastro or claim a player off waviers or made a trade. I hop they make a trade, but do not expect it at this time
  9. This is the pitch to contact vs the pitch to miss bats change that took place about 2 years ago. Also has something to say where the Twins were drafting from 2001 - 2010. After the first 5-10 draft picks in a year(1st round), it is a draft and develop issue, you no longer have sure things. Worley was a good change, but is was May the Twins wanted. Just did not work out, too bad
  10. Let's look at the last possibility, Twins could option Florimon to give him a month of AB's while he recovers and start Escobar with Bartlett the utility player. They could then bring Florimon back up and replace whoever does not cut it. Parmelee is probably gone, unless the Twins send Arcia to Rochester, do not see him making this club.
  11. Given the success of St. Louis with Wacha, I would expect the next wave to be here in about 2-3 years. Twins are well set up by TR signings to handle this. Meyer and or May will be here next year if not this year. Steward and possibly Thorpe or Berrios will be here in 2016 or 2017, that does not count either Kris Johnson or Gilmartin who might turn into something. Not all trades work out well, but by 2015 or 2016 Revere was going to be a 4th outfielder here and have very little value. You get what value you can, some trades are not going to work out. About the Pirates, Liarano is back to throwing mainly sliders(that is what wreaked his arm in the first place). That could mean he has 1-3 years before his next TJ surgery. Don Cooper (the White Sox pitching coach) is very highly respected in the baseball business. He could not fix Liarano.
  12. I am not a lawyer, but this looks like a couple of issues that could be a big problem(devil's advocate). 1 Attempt by agents to have minor leaguers on a separate set of rules from major league union. 2. Attempt to have courts revisit pro team contracts and possibly use the court system to change the rules(to the detriment of small market teams).
  13. Twins need to keep the young players and see what they can do. Diamond should be sent thru waviers and back to Rochester. Afraid if he pitches well in his next outing, the Twins will send Gibson down, not to lose Diamond to waivers. Twins need Collabella's bat off the bench. Do not know what they are going to do with Parmelee, who the Twin need to see if he can stick up here. Should send Kubel and Bartlett to Rochester for a month, until the young players can make it or fail. Then you make your decisions.
  14. Just concerned that if Diamond pitches well in his next outing, twins will send Gibson to Rochester because he has options. Agree that it is time to cut bait with Diamond. Kubel vs Parmelee is the big one, but believe the Twins can stash Kubel at Rochester for about a month, which is all it would take to see if Parmelee makes it. Really afraid they will send Arcia to Rochester and keep both Kubel and Parmelee.
  15. Quote was misread, Tabata was a starting Pirate outfielder for the last 2-3 years, had a down year last year and is being cleared for the Pirates #1 prospect Gregory Polanco at this time. Pirates need backup catching and a left handed hitting first baseman. All I was suggesting was sending some of our excess for some of their excess. Do not know if the trade would work, but the parameters seem about right.
  16. Rameriz could make the club, that would mean the Collabello would not, or they would send Presley down. That would be an issue with a fourth outfielder. Twins could trade some of their bullpen for a 4th outfielder, would depend on who, or trade Herrmann or Fryer with another player(Parmelee) to the Pirates for Tabata(Pirates also have excess relief pitching). Might take a bit more than that to get it done, but worth a try.
  17. Twins need to do reasonably well this year to sell seats. Otherwise after this year it will be a disaster until they turn things around. I hope decisions will be made for the good of the club, not players given a chance to prove themselves because of prior track records. Take the best 25 north and don't worry about the fallout. If the Twins fall out early, then move all the veterans you can to make room for the future.
  18. It may be painfull, but this is a sort out year. Find out which of the Twins young players that are ready have a future here. That is why I am hoping there is no room for either Kubel or Bartlett. Parmelee, Florimon, Escobar, Plouffe, Hicks and Arcia all need to play and see which ones can grow and which ones will need to be pushed or replaced next year.
  19. Do think the Twins will deal a reliever or one of the out of option starters and a reliever for either 1. A decent prospect 2. A player who could help the Twins now(either an outfielder or an utility type infielder with an outfielder as my best guess). Kubel will have to hit a lot more to make the team as he and Parmelee are competing for what looks to be one spot. Believe Arcia will be here, but he might be sent to Rochester so both Kubel and Parmelee can make the team(do not see why, but Twins have done things like this before). Agree with you Seth that Diamond looks to be the odd man out and may well be traded soon.
  20. Most of this makes sense. Twins expect Florimon to be ready and Escobar to be the utility guy. If Florimon is not ready than Bartlett makes the team as the backup to start. Unless Bartlett is so bad they cut him and bring up Santana to start until Florimon is ready.
  21. That probably means that Hicks is the starting CF, Do not see Presley and Rameriz as being the only options. However I agree if Hicks struggles early send him back down.
  22. If TR does not return before the end of spring training, Gardy will probably have a lot of say in who goes north with the team, that may or may not be a good thing(win now vs the future). I would rather focus on the future.
  23. Depends on what the Sox want, but cannot see them doing it for one of the out of options pitchers(not Deduno) the Twins could give up, now you could add one of the soft throwing lefties and maybe they would bite. Do not give anything good, but De Aza could be a decent piece for a year or two, or just give the options for more moves.
  24. Have you watched Worley this year or just going on last year. Diamond is my odd man out, Worley can start or relieve depending on Deduno, Do not think Kubel or Bartlett should make this club unless they earn it. We may suffer a year or two with the kids, but much rather that then watching the almost unwatchable veterans.
  25. Agreed, this should be the let's see what we got year. And move on from those who don't cut it.
