  1. I have yet to see any of them specifically say "Alvarez etc was never on the table"
  2. Oops, my bad, yeah it was Mike B. I think Mike B is great and very trustworthy to be honest
  3. Yeah, but the problem is most of the better options are already off the market. This seems to be a yearly thing with the Twins, they manage to either overspend early, or under-spend far too late. Color me shocked if we bring in an above average RP this late in the game...
  4. I think both teams typically play things rather close to the vest. Interesting to see what else Morosi reports and what else "officially" comes out.
  5. I wouldn't say it has zero informational value, it shows what the Twins originally wanted, if the Dodgers weren't willing to give up anything resembling that trade then chances are they wouldn't have "negotiated" for months on end. So it seems that it can potentially be concluded that while the Dodgers didn't want to give up JDL+Alvarez+Calhoun, they must have made an offer close enough to keep the conversation moving for multiple weeks.
  6. Morosi isn't a legit reporter?
  7. But it is true....
  8. Could have improved OF pretty easily as well. Twins are by far the worst team in baseball over the last 5-6 years, sorry if I'm not really up for the "well shucks a lot of things went wrong last year" excuses. Fool me once Fool me 26 times etc
  9. Santiago shouldn't even be on this roster, what a waste of money and a roster spot.
  10. True, but they could at least have improved themselves for the future by trading Dozier for a package of Alvarez+JDL+AAAA type instead of insisting on Alvarez+JDL+Calhoun (or very close to Calhoun) type. Again my issue is they haven't improved the current team, and much more importantly the future team this off-season. I get the stance of "let's see what happens the rest of the season" but any sort of "positive" spin on this off-season is a joke! At best it's been an "incomplete" grade more realistically it's a D or F thus far.
  11. I for one am SHOCKED that the Twins are going into a season have zero idea what they will do at SS. We are almost as sad as the Browns are when it comes to QB choices.
  12. True which is why we should all go by the following advice
  13. I wouldn't go that far. I would encourage him to keep at it and try to catch on with an MLB at somepoint this season, ideally he could join a contending team as either a replacement for a DH/1B or as a PH/DH platoon type so that he can try to get a ring.
  14. Counterpoint: Complacency certainly seems like an issue "this time around" The Twins haven't improved the 2017, or more importantly the 2018,2019 or 2020 team in any meaningful way whatsoever this off-season. This would be one thing if they were already a realistic 80+ win team, but this is a whole nother thing when you are talking about the worst team by far in the MLB last year, to do absolutely nothing besides a couple minor league FA signed and a 0.5-1.0 WAR upgrade at Catcher is dumbfounding. Yeah, losing only 90-95 games this year would be an improvement, but is it worth wasting another year of Dozier and other assets that you could have traded at some point earlier?
  15. Why is there a like quota anyways, seems pointless.
  16. I still maintain through my source that JDL+Alv were agreed to, people can disagree which is fine. But I think the breaking point came when the Twins wanted Calhoun as well (instead of a much much lesser piece for the 3rd player) The debate is fun though
  17. Yeah good points
  18. Or just let the people vote on SCOTUS, logistically it can be difficult, but not if you set term limits and have safeguards in place if someone retires or dies "early"
  19. But it was a Minnesota reporter that mentioned it to begin with....hard to give the Twins the blind benefit of the doubt on this one, especially what has happened thus far this off season and the last 20+
  20. Yeah they are no 1998 Vikings.... which maybe a good thing
  21. What a time to shutter Wildextra...ugh. Oh well. Yes, Wild look amazing right now, no real "holes" they could always use another "pure scorer" but maybe Pominville can continue to provide that (last solid 10 games or so) Key now is HEALTH, HEALTH, HEALTH! Esp with: duby Suter Staal Koivu Zucker IMO
  22. Fwiw I never said which org my source is in, could have been LAD or the Twins. I'm not a reporter/blogger/anything media related though so I wouldn't try to pull any "spin" on anything nor would I care to. Three owners/mods here know for sure which side my source was on, but I request that they keep our convos confidential.
  23. FWIW I was never told Calhoun specifically was offered or asked for, but it certainly aligns with what my source was saying (Twins wanted a good third player, Dodgers didn't want to give up a "good" third player and preferred AAAA type) Me, personally? I would have taken Alvarez+JDL+1 day pass at Statfreak101 baseball academy....then again what do I know? I'm not working for the worst org in baseball (record wise) the last 5 overall years
  24. https://mobile.twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/826463712718495747 Told ya
  25. Though the **** part of course is he could sit on the court for another 40 years potentially.... I think we look into limits for SCOTUS personally. Maybe 20 years? They can "resign" early if they want to help pick a successor? Etc?
