Yeah America has been one of the worst offenders of this for a very long time. Actually I take it back, that whole series is bizarre and doesn't seem to serve much of a purpose, worst of all cody seems to be really reaching to put more articles together, Walbeck as an all time worst Twin? Give me a break, the guy was more or less a backup catcher type, does every player who was a backup deserve to be on this list? If it was focused on FA signings that busted or hyped up players (Nishi, bautista, nolasco) I get the merit of the series, but this? No way.

Yeah Walbeck played 11 years in the majors and was pretty much consistent year in and year out. It wasn't like he was a good player and then fell off a cliff when he joined the Twins: White, Bautista, Boone etc He was what he was, and I personally wouldn't consider him for a list like this.

Yeah I don't get why Walbeck is on this list. He basically is a backup or 50/50 catcher who was very good defensively. Walbeck doesn't seem to fit in this series at all tbh.

To me the question isn't if it has been a mildly disappointing off season or a larger disappointing offseason. It has most definitely IMO been a huge disappointment because: 1. The Twins haven't improved over their 2016 team by any real measure. At best Castro adds 1 win over Suzuki, but more than likely it's closer to a wash. 2. The Twins haven't improved their chances in 2018, 2019, 2020 as well. Dozier wasn't traded as we all know, but nobody else has been moved as well. The starting pitching is a freaking disaster zone and continues to be one, the major league rotation is a mess. Santana is the only one who can be counted on to produce more than a fringe #5 pitcher. Berrios has potential but is still very raw, Gibson would have pitched himself out of any other rotation in baseball last year, Hughes is coming off a serious injury, Santiago was terrible, Duffey is no longer a real option. May is now getting put back in the rotation after we wasted 1.5 years of his development in the pen etc. Even worst, the minors are pretty bare when it comes to pitching. Dozier was obviously our best bet to fix this problem, but there is no reason why other guys couldn't have been dealt as well to help address this need. Polanco, Kepler, Rosario, Kintzler, Vargas, Escobar, all could help bring back pitching help in one way or another potentially. So thus the question is: Is the front office to blame for this disappointment or is it more "the market" I think it's 50/50 as of now. If nothing else significant happens before opening day? 80/20.

Minor quibble: Some would argue that Palestine has just as much of a right to weapons to defend themselves that Israel has. I find it hypocritical of America to wag our finger at other countries who want weapon technology or god forbid nuclear technology. Frankly at this stage I would trust Iran with nukes over Trump with nukes.

I don't see any possible way this current rotation can compete, even if Hughes is healthy and effective and Berrios reaches his potential we still have a ton of question marks for the last two spots in the rotation. Gibson, Santiago, etc are #5's at best at this point.

Texts/phone calls from my source who is in one of the two orgs (2 of the owners here have more info on the source and proof etc but don't know his/her name) ultimately they could have been wrong, but I don't believe so, they haven't steered me wrong in the past. It is odd however I will grant you that there hasn't been any other real reports on the additional players offered, both teams/orgs always play things close to the vest, which is another reason why I don't want to accidentally "burn" my source. I don't want to share the text screen shots publically though for several reasons, as I wasn't given clearance to and I don't want someone figuring out who my source was, basically an abundance of caution. But I reported many of the updates on the twitter account.

The Santiago trade still was beyond dumb, we compounded that dumb trade by overpaying for him in 2017. Meanwhile Alex Meyer is on track to be a solid SP for years to come.

Yeah, this is the thing, JDL is much closer to a 3/4 then a #2 IMO. JDL for Forsythe is an absolute steal for the LAD, TB seemed to panic for some reason. Also I'm not super high on Forsythe anyways, I think he is a 2.5 WAR player moving fwd

It's a good thing we have a good:Starting pitchi.... Bullpe..... Outfie.... Um DH depth? Also this isn't like plugging a 80 power guy like Sano into 3rd where he is prob below average, this is plugging a guy who could be a league average hitter or so (not a knock) into the most important position in baseball, on a team with a suspect infield already and a pitching staff that strikes out the least people in the whole league.

Beyond my reports about the trade offer, I think it's a stretch for people to suggest the dodgers made the same Offer for Dozier as they did with Forsythe. Dozier by far is the better player now, has a better upside and a better floor as well. Im not going to pat the FO on the back for this off season which has yielded Castro on a 3 year deal (too long) and zilch else.

Not unless it involves the Dodgers and the Twins!

2-3 WAR per season is my guess.

People can disagree, but I bet if you polled 100 front office people 95+ of them would tell you Dozier is the better player.

Yeah it's up for debate but the other options he Twins had weren't pretty. And they were in the hunt at the time.

Very misleading IMO, it's foolish not to include doziers 2014, Dozier was hurt 2nd half of 2015 which is why His numbers took a dive.
