He won't cost anything close to 4 million IMO, I highly doubt someone will give him a major league contract much more then the minimum. I'd give him a spring training invite for sure.

Myers will get 1 year. If they sign: Marcum, Liriano, and Jurrgens that could be a nice start to free agency. Maybe you can even trade Span for a good pitching prospect as well.

I honestly have never understood the appeal of this. I mean you literally must have not a whole lot going on in life to be interested in the "contest". Do they pay you for being in the fan cave? Can you ever leave? Can you have conjugal visits in the fan cave? Do you really have to watch every Astros game

How was Ruiz cheating? Didn't he test hot for Adderrall? I can't believe all these players are getting busted, it really isn't that hard to get a scrip for it.

Liriano is a much better signing then Feldman and several other garbage options. I am all for giving him a one year 4-5 mil deal. In a perfect world we could get a team option on him as well. -
Remind me the last time the Royals or Cubs were relevant? Fact is we should be doing nothing to emulate there lead, I don't care about Theo either who basically lucked into those teams (with Ortiz and Manny in the lineup) then gave out a bunch of ****ty contracts later on. Until they prove otherwise I'm not going to trust either teams judgement on free agents. Let the trash teams over pay for the garbage on the market. (Baker won't be ready to start come April)

You missed the point. People appear ready to badmouth every move in which a pitcher makes "too much" while simultaneously being the same people insistent on signing FAs. (See: Dave) Whether the team signs pitchers or not we have to accept that they will be overpaid. We will have to overpay pitching. I don't care what level of faith people have, I'm annoyed that every time a pitcher of any discernible talent signs we have this rush of posters here to tell us it was smart that the Twins didn't throw that much money around. If you want the Twins to get better in the offseason - stop worrying about the dollar amounts. You'll either be a hypocrite when they do sign someone finally or you've bought into the "Twins Way" of offseason spending hook-line-and sinker. (And, for the record, I'm not even saying the Twins Way is the wrong way. I'd much rather avoid FA altogether unless you can sign guys like Willingham, O-Dog, Doumit, Burton, etc.) The Cubs are paying guys more than they are worth (let me introduce you to the past 20 years of FA history if you want an actual lecture on the absurdity of this) but they are doing it with low leverage deals that have upside. I would call that smart. Derp. I will criticize them once they fail to sign a decent pitcher like Marcum etc, but at this point who has gone off the market thus far? Baker? (Overpaid and won't even be ready until mid season), Guthrie (Do you want to give that turd 3 years?) and Feldman (4.81 ERA enough said)

I really think there should be a hall of shame one featuring: Tony Bautista, Juan Castro, Livan Hernandez, Sidney Ponson, Brett Boone, and Nishioka.

Feldman+Figgins= Championship Again, Feldman is garbage, anything more then 2.5 million was a gross overpay. The guy has a career 4.81 ERA and 4.78 in his last 4 seasons. He has also pitched over 151 IP one time in his career. I would have brought him in on a 1-2 mil deal tops, anyone who thinks the Twins missed the boat on him needs to have their head examined.

Also Figgins is GARBAGE defensively at 2B.

Plenty of people thought that it was a crazy signing at the time, it was ripped universally. Again, Figgins was probably the worst player in baseball last year. The Twins need to stay as far away from him as possible, I'd rather give Dozier 600 at bats then Figgins 8 days out of the week, and Dozier would actually out preform him by a wide margin.

Just because two terrible teams like the Cubs and Royals are overpaying for garbage doesn't mean the rest of the teams are going to follow suit. Feldman for 6 million is a freaking joke. Anything over 2.5 mil for him is overpaying.

First off: Why is this a topic? Second off: Unless some team was willing to overpay for him he'd be best severed taking a one year deal to bring his value back up. -
I think peoples' expectations are far too high. The Twins are not going to get two pitchers better than Brett Myers and Brett Myers. They may get two pitchers better than Brett. They may get Brett and a pitcher better than him. But two pitchers better than him while also signing him to a short contract? Nope. That's a tall order when 29 other teams are fighting for those same pitchers in free agency. Do you honestly believe Brett Myers commands anything more then close to a minimum one year deal?? I sure as hell hope if they sign Brett Myers they get two pitchers "better" then him.

Myers started exactly ZERO games last year. They moved him out the rotation because they realized he wasn't a good pitcher.

Brett Myers is ****ing garbage, if a team as ****ty as the Astros decided he no longer was a fit in the rotation thats all you need to know, he is a lifetime 4.24 ERA starting pitcher in the NL, which means at best he at one point who would been a 4.60 ERA pitcher in the AL, except the problem is he is regressing. Would I bring him in on a minimum deal this year? Sure, but I sure as hell wouldn't count on this wife beaters ass to be an even short term solution to the rotation. Myers should be the 4th of 5th pitcher you sign this off-season to be honest.
