  1. Only thing is Burton doesn't carry much value with a full bullpen already, at least not enough to include two prospects. If they were going to do something with a guy like Carroll, they'd just use Janish or Pastornicky. Value-wise, it'd be even, but it doesn't match up with the Braves' needs. Is that TRULY even Value wise? Burton and Carroll have like zero trade value to be honest, and Doumit, while a nice player is much better suited for the AL these days as he would not be an every day guy in the NL.
  2. According to mlbtraderumors the Braves are going to be looking heavily at a CF to replace Bourn and Span is at the top of the list. I'm not going to mention all the arms the Braves have since we have gone over them time and time again in the Willingham thread, but wonder if we can get a better package for Span then Willingham, I am guessing that the haul would be significantly greater.
  3. They need to aim higher then Jamey Carroll and a guy who basically is a younger version of Caroll, if they were able to trade Caroll away then sure, go after him. But if you have Carroll around aim higher, and if not, just give Dozier, Florimon etc a chance.
  4. The only complaining people have done is about the ads that pop up and take up the whole screen and autoplay with sound with you roll over those. Those are ****ing annoying as hell, and I can tell you from someone in the industry that they aren't making much more money on those annoying ads then normal ones. It's not a twinsdaily issue anyways, but the ad network issue. They got most of them cleaned up, but ran into another one today which was fine, the issue was a couple months ago when 50%+ of the ads were like that.
  5. The Mets are shopping him since they are far apart in extension talks. Not sure what the asking price would be, but it could be somewhat high seeing how he is on a very friendly contract next season (just 5 mil). He could be a trade target possibly, but would be way about giving him anything more then a 2-3 year extension if we do so. The Mets literally need everything, so 2-3 solid prospects could get it done. Thoughts?
  6. No we did not miss an opportunity. Carroll is probably a better option then Izturis and wouldn't cost us 3 years. I still feel Carroll is perfectly fine as a starter at either SS or 2B, the key is finding that 2nd piece and they need to aim higher then a guy like Izturis for that, or just go in house.
  7. Agreed. Apparently Sherman also noted the M's are talking to KC,and asking about Wil Myers, so MN is not in it alone. Well if Myers is on the table that trumps anything we can offer.
  8. Sano certainly has more trade value then Hicks, but all things being equal I would rather have Sano in the system then Hicks.
  9. Some people are just ridiculous in there expectations, they want everyone the Twins to sign to be a Verlander, Matt Cain, Zack Greinke or bust
  10. Dempster would be a good "buy lowish" pick up, his struggles in Texas are going to hurt his value on the open market I bet. I'd certainly prefer him over some of the other options like Guthrie etc
  11. In reality Hicks won't be enough to get Walker or Hultzen. However guys like Paxton could be in play.
  12. Yeah, if we can get anything of value back for Revere we might as well do it. Holding onto Span for the beginning of next year until Hicks was ready wouldn't be the worst thing in the world either, no rush to deal Span for the sake of dealing.
  13. I would give up Revere in a heart beat for any of those guys.
  14. Vargas, Kepler and especially Wimmers aren't going to ever bring you back any top talent back in a trade if they are the center piece, they certainly won't bring back a Bauer. I kinda get why you say Sano, Buxton are hands off, but I disagree. Saying Hicks and Arcia are hands off in a trade like this makes me think your are falling to in love with our own prospects. As great as Hicks and Arcia's potential is, they still both have some significant flaws in their games and neither one is guaranteed to be an all-star type player (at this point I think Hicks floor is a great defensive CF who is a little below average hitting) Put it this way: If the Twins suddenly soured on Sano (who isn't in the same prospect league as Bauer IMO, though maybe not to far off), would you want them to consider a package back for guys like Whimmers/Kepler/Vargas?
  15. your offering up a lot for an undersized prospect with an attitude problem arnt you? but he might fit in with the lilly white twins who knows Try spelling or punctuation for a change. Look at theTwins roster of players in the majors and minors and see there is diversity. You really must be fatbeers long lost separated at birth twin I'm not sure where the undersized comment is coming from either. According to baseball prospects the average pitcher height is 6'2, Bauer is only an inch below that.
  16. They can sorta be traded as "PTBNL" types, though for a guy as highly rated as Berrios I can't think of that happening before. Maybe they could add in one of the 75 RP they drafted this year as well? I still think it would take a lot more then Hicks+a couple fringe top 10 guys. Ditto with the Andrus for Bauer talk. Towers isn't an idiot, he will get equal value for Bauer or will just stick with him. Honestly, I would give up anyone on this team or in the farm system to get Bauer, kids with his stuff at age 21 are pretty rare. As far as "attitude" etc goes, maybe he just needs a change of scenery/ a new voice in his ear. If for some reason the Diamondbacks decide to sell low on him then if we could get him for a package around Hicks/Arcia etc I would be all for it and thrilled, personally I would rather give up Arcia then Hicks, but to get an arm like Bauer you gotta be willing to pull the trigger. After looking more into it I can't see Span as a viable target for them (unless they want to trade away another OF in the meantime which wouldn't shock me, who knows what Towers is up to) but Eaton is looking like the future CF there. It's to bad none of our major league pieces match up with the Diamondbacks at all :/
  17. lol thats not going to work. Bauer was a top ten prospect and will be again next season, I'd personally have him right around the #5-#7 range in all of baseball. Hicks is a nice prospect but no where near that. If you aren't trading Span, you are most likely going to have to start with Sano, or two of the Arcia/Rosario/Hicks trio along with some additional pieces most likely. Duensing has zero value in a trade.
  18. I would to, but Marcum is going to be significantly pricier at the end of the day. If the Twins can grab one of Shields/Johnson/other top pitcher on the trade market, I wouldn't be too upset if they supplemented the rotation with signing Baker and Guthrie. Johnson/Shields/etc Baker Diamond Guthrie Gibson/Hendriks/etc wouldn't be to bad, of course replace Guthrie with Marcum and suddenly the Twins have a playoff contender rotation.
  19. I'd take a shot on Guthrie, the guy can eat you innings and should be able to post to close to a 4.00 ERA, if he could be our "pavano years 2009-2011" he'd be worth bringing in a 2 year deal, 13 mil tops though.
  20. No on Uggla, 3/39 is way to steep a price to pay for a guy who is clearly aging and showing steady decline, his defense is only going to get worse as well. I'd be more interested in Weeks, but not sure why the Brew Crew would sell so low on him. Plus I'd want them to pick up some of the cash. I actually want them to Bring in Kelly Johnson as a buy low type guy 1 year, 4.5 mil should get it done.
  21. Unless it's Hanson and someone like Aaron Northcraft, Gary Moran, Gus Schlosser, or David Hale, two pitchers just for Willingham isn't happening. I'd do that in a heartbeat. I think Hanson has some great potential and the 2nd guy doesn't have to be a can't miss prospect, just a guy who has a good shot to make a major league rotation in the future.
  22. Bauer is going to cost a hefty package of prospects, plus I'm not so sure they would want Span or Willingham even since they have a pretty loadeded OF with Parra. If they didn't want Span or whatever, I would offer them Sano+more in a heartbeat.
  23. According to Crasnick the Diamondbacks are willing to trade Bauer. If I were the Twins he would instantly become my number one target. Assuming they trade Upton as well the Diamondbacks could use a CF in Span. However obviously Span would NOT be enough to get Bauer, I wonder if we included one of Arcia/Rosario if it would be enough to get Bauer back in return? Prob not. But maybe they could include more pieces. Span+Rosario+Vargas+C+ prospect? for Bauer? Do it. Bauer has the potential to be an absolutely dominating pitcher.
  24. I would be for trading Willingham if we can get a couple pitchers back in return. One ready now, one in the future. I would then go out and sign Torii Hunter to a one year contract to bring in a RH bat, take Willinghams spot. A potential OF of Hunter/Span/Revere could be pretty damn amazing defensive wise.
  25. Drudging up the overly optimistic Dave predictions would take centuries - there have been so many comically awful examples that it doesn't pay to just pick one. You're an optimist, great. The rest of us in the real world suffered with awful game experiences, no ability to sell season tickets when we couldn't make a game, inept play, and a product barely worth paying attention to unless you are a diehard. I've earned the right to be a pessimist and so has any other Twins fan. So no, I don't feel trading Span and a prospect for a two year rental is a sound idea. You want to swap him for Mike Minor, Tommy Hanson, or some other expanded deal with a prospect - fine. At least then you're helping the organization long-term and not trying to chase some naive delusion of contention. Well yeah I'd obviously prefer Tommy Hanson as well, but I live in the real world where opposing GMS aren't lining up to get destroyed in trades. On that note, maybe we should try to get Strausburg or Matt Moore as well in a Span centered deal!
