  1. Over at BYTO we clamored for Webb and Harden every year it seemed. I don't think either one has anything left, but if one of them wants to come to spring training there is no harm in that I suppose. Just don't count on them to give you anything and maybe you can be surprised.
  2. I think it's awesome that you read a great resource and this is your only takeaway. Using your logic BA, BP and Sickel's also have crappy lists since they haven't updated their lists. Yeah, that is pretty ridiculous lol. It's not like it's exactly hard to find an Alex Meyer write up around these parts anyways. Thanks for this link Kab, I do like how he has fantasy impact on alot of these!
  3. How is Chavez not a 120 game player anymore when he played in 113 last year? (and had his best year in 7 years) The Twins wouldn't need him to play that much anyways, he would be a bench bat and could go against tough righties to give Plouffe a break from time to time.
  4. Is Webb really the answer though? Don't get me wrong, I would love to see him play as well but I think there is a reason why he hasn't seen the field this year. There really was no reason for the Vikes not to have a legit back up this year with such a question mark at starting QB. Ugh, this has been so frustrating to waste Petersons best year yet. Maybe this will get Peterson to start bitching a bit to ownership about putting a real team around him. I like Fraiser, or want to like him because I think he has a good grasp on the defense, but maybe its time to think about courting a guy like Gruden to come coach the team. Either way, Musgrave. HAS. TO. GO. And in addition at the very least they need to bring in someone who at least has a 50/50 shot to beat out Ponder for the starting gig in 2013. Alex Smith, Michael Vick or Matt Flynn at the very least.
  5. We had a long thread earlier this off-season about Chavez, I think the general consensus was that most everyone would love to have him here on a cheap 1 year deal, but that he most likely would want to play for a contender (or go back to Oakland). I hope Hannahan isn't brought in on a major league deal, or expected to play any sort of significant innings at 3rd base. The guy doesn't bring anything to the table offensively, and with the holes in the rest of the INF plus a no hit CF most likely, the Twins need power out of their remaining positions (1B,LF, RF, 3B, C, DH). If you have him on board to be strictly a back up/defensive insurance for a 1/1mil deal then I wouldn't be to upset. But if you want him to start 80 games, no thanks. Would rather give those chances to a guy with upside.
  6. Not bad, lacking in the ass though. I have to imagine there is some MLB players with even better WAGS then that. inb4 Dinkelman photos.
  7. You killed the scarecrow. No one was arguing the rest of the team is flawless. Also I am going to disagree with Alex, this team has plenty of issues outside of QB play, but so does most every other team in the playoff hunt. If you put even a mediocre QB back there today, the Vikings most likely win the game. If you have an average QB we go at least 10-6 with this supporting cast/defense/special teams. Ponder is costing us games left and right, as is Musgrave.
  8. Bleacher report??? Sigh
  9. The minute they put in Webb over him I think Ponders career as a Viking is done, which I don't think is a bad thing, but I sorta understand the rationale behind it. At this point, I hope they realize how terrible Ponder is the rest of this year and take a serious run at Alex Smith. Then try to grab a decent QB in round two or three for the future. Landry Jones could be a nice sleeper candidate, dude has all the weapons.
  10. Only after we sign DeRosa and his hot wife.
  11. ****ing worst QB in the league by far, holy ****, bring back T-Joke at this rate! Pretty sure Ben Revere has a better arm then this joke.
  12. Exactly. There is a reason why teams aren't going around giving Juan Pierre multi year deals.
  13. Revere most likely has the most range for a CF in the entire major leagues, the fact that Parmelee is better then Delmon/Doumit means that it won't be a huge deal, corner OF defense at the end of the day doesn't matter that much anyways, there is a reason why corner OF's are playing Corner OF in the first place.
  14. The day Revere proves he can hit for even a .700 OPS (Which is still on the "way below average end of the spectrum for OF's) then maybe we can think about having this conversation. Until then, he is nothing more then a 4th OF, or a stop gap CF on a 90 loss type team. Anyone who argues otherwise on the basis of "He is exciting!!" or whatever doesn't have the faintest idea of how baseball works and understands statistics at a 1st grade level. Not trying to be harsh, but it's the truth.
  15. the rangers are at this moment trying to nab andrelton simmons from the braves in order to flip him for j upton. They already have andrus and profar. a surplus is a terrific problem to have when everyone is cheap, any manager or gm will say as much. Because whatever internal logjam might occur, it says nothing about their tradeability or the supply of outfielders in other organizations i'm in total agreement. The only ones who don't concur are the vast sea of td keyboard gms who think they know better. I travel quite a bit, who do you think is one of the most likely players brought up in conversation by the typical casual fan when the subject of the twins comes up? Simply put, there's two kinds of value that a player can bring to the table, that which wins games (by the numbers) and that which puts fans in the seats and in front of the tube ( by the sizzle). Revere's clearly better at the latter, but that ain't all bad. derrrrrppppppppppppppppp
  16. Why is this thread on the Twins board? Shouldn't mediocre catcher signs with club fall under the general baseball thread?
  17. Holding onto him the full year and taking the draft pick wouldn't be the worst thing in the world either. Don't just trade him to trade him, if you don't get a good prospect back, just hold onto him
  18. He has got to fix his mechanics, if he is able to do that we very well could be looking at an ace type potential pitcher. That is very exciting to me.
  19. The problem is there is a very good chance that by year 4 Revere is not worth 6 mil a year. At the end of the day he is a very good 4th OF, you don't give these guys long term contracts when you don't need to. I'm not sure why people think he suddenly might "break out" or something, 2012 is about as good as its going to get from Revere unless he magically learns how to throw the ball or magically learns how to hit for power.
  20. Exactly. The 3rd pitcher can be a scrap heap signing, honestly I think Hendriks might have a shot to be a solid #5 this year, meaning we only really need 2 pitchers out of FA
  21. I dunno, I like Perkins and Hanson scares the hell out of me, its never good when a young pitcher loses that much velocity.
  22. Shaun Marcum 3/24 Greinke 5/95 Pavano 1/1
  23. You don't give extensions to 4th outfielders
  24. Yeah, the twins clearly should have kept lew ford around all these years, and the certainly should have overpaid for alexi for 2013.
  25. Dude what on earth are you talking about? We are talking about how he doubled his UZR in 2011/2012 vs what he was putting up yearly in 2008-2010. In 2008-2010 he was healthy almost the entire time, 2011-2012 is when he had injury issues. Unless you think his concussion issues made him magically have a doubled UZR over his career average it is easy to assume that his UZR yearly average doubled 95% because of the fact that Revere was manning the OF with him.
