  1. I mean, this isn't a shocker. The good news is we have guys like Meyer, May and Berrios in the system so hopefully we make strides soon.
  2. Ugh, it would suck to see him go. I'd still only give him up for a prospect of value (they would have to fit in the top 20 of our org) if you can only get cash or a player to be named later, then just hold onto him and let him finish the year out as the Twins try to win 75 or so games. Also I have no desire to see Collabero or Parmelee at first base every day, I am pretty confident neither one is a full time major league first baseman, period.
  3. Yu Darvish has as many games where he has struck out 14 batters as the twins have total games where their starters have. Struck out 7
  4. Also what should be noted, is that if Rosario pushes the issue quickly and the Twins aren't ready at the time to move Dozier to SS for whatever reason, Rosario could take over in CF for a bit.
  5. Yeah there is a definite trade off you can live with at SS, if Dozier can put up some nice numbers at the dish you can certainly live with "average" defense. Hell, a Sano, Dozier and Rosario MI/3B would be deadly at the plate, and at least could be "average" in the field. Also with the Twins FINALLY getting some strike out pitchers, defense importance should become a bit less. (But also keep in mind, the OF defense should be pretty damn solid from here on out)
  6. Listen, I am as happy as anyone about Albers, but he is walking a very fine line out there. Adjustments will have to be made, and if anything I think it's good that Gardy and company aren't going to let the success etc goto his head.
  7. Dozier to SS only makes to much sense.
  8. The Twins also set an MLB record for having their last 22 runs come via the long ball.
  9. People do realize that May isn't that great of a prospect right?
  10. It's a bit different with a cuban defector (who is already in his prime) vs a 16-18 year old.
  11. I don't anticipate the Twins being able to sign Stanon long term if they get him by some miracle, the time to lock him in for at least a somewhat friendly extension has possibly come and gone at this point?
  12. Hunter is a bad comp for Buxton. But I get your point. Buxton could have a career similar to Trout, who I am pretty confident will be one of the two or three highest paid players within the next 5 years.
  13. Also for the record, I would give up anyone not named Sano or Buxton for Stanton in a heartbeat, hell I would give up 3 of them as long as two weren't pitchers.
  14. "Heckling" opposing players should be reserved for the classless *******s who flock to Yankee Stadium and that dump Fenway. I know this article is in jest, but listening to some drunken idiot "heckle" a ball player (who could care less) is annoying about 999 times out of 1,000. The only gems are when someone gets the occasional awesome and random dig.
  15. I could see Sano with a higher peak salary, but Buxton with a larger total contract.
  16. With 16-18 year old "kids" which is what they are, I imagine that top "lists" change pretty rapididly. Obviously the top handful of guys (1-10) are very widely regarded etc and seperation in abilities is obvious, but I am guessing that the majority of the guys in the 20-200 range could be changed on nearly a weekly basis potentially. So my main message is: Keep Calm and trust in the Twins when it comes to this. I do like how people ignore the Twins past successes or brush them off as luck (Sano etc) while continuing this silly crusade about the Twins being cheap.
  17. Plouffe is merely a placeholder at 3rd base until next June. It's 100% up to him to prove he is worth giving significant playing time at another position (OF, 1B) I wonder if they could have him work some innings at SS again?
  18. Of course it doesn't really matter...but then again one could argue that 99% of topics on this site don't "matter" either. I just thought it would be nice to focus on some positives instead of "payroll topic part 10,000" And frankly, I think people do care quite a bit about prospect rankings, baseball america/fangraphs/espn etc would cease to do them if it didn't get people excited.
  19. yeah, also not to mention that whole losing 3 years in a row thing that the Twins have going for them
  20. A month or so ago it was pretty much unanimous amongst...well...everyone that Buxton was the top prospect in all of baseball. While his bat has cooled off a bit at A+ (Still a respectable .800 OPS or so) it should be noted that after a poor start at AA Sano is absolutely destroying the league and should end up with an OPS above 1.000 in both leagues and close to 40 combined HR. Additionally he is getting some rave reviews for his defense at third base. So with that said, is Sano now the #1 prospect in baseball? He obviously doesn't have the tools Buxton has, but you can't deny the way he has been destroying the baseball.
  21. Yeah, exactly. He argues against 3B being premium, yet then tells us that Stanton is the real deal defensively......in RF.
  22. The signing period doesn't end for another 10 months. In that case, isn't it wise to hold some money back, in case some diamond in the rough suddenly emerges out of nowhere?
  23. I think the Twins geography hurts them a bit when it comes to a guy like Abreu. Minnesota isn't exactly known for it's warm weather and diversity....so any guy coming straight from Cuba to Minnesota would be due for quite the culture shock, which is why a place like Texas (not a lot of Cubans, but plenty of Spanish speakers and it's warm) or LA/NY makes more sense (and has in the past) I wouldn't want to give up much more then 60-70 mil to sign him personally. The problem is he is a one tool player, no? That is a lot of high risk/high reward.
  24. I wouldn't give up either of Sano or Buxton for Stanton. If this were 3 years ago and the Twins were a playoff team already...sure. But no way would I do that now. There is zero reason why Sano can't be every bit the hitter Stanton is, while playing a premium position.
