  1. They should do the same plan as this year, the concussion was a freak injury and they kept him out for the rest of the season out of an abundance of caution. 80 games at C 40 games at 1B 25 games at DH Let Pinto and Doumit catch the other 80 games.
  2. And a very nice O-line, and a D-Line that held its own, and a decent but not great secondary.
  3. Is Ullger really hurting anything at this point? I like bringing Molitor in, alot. Having a guy with a track record like that can be nothing but a positive influence. Also, he battled his demons as a young ball player, with the team about to get extremely young in the next year or two, having a guy like Molitor who can warn about some of the temptations to the youngsters is a GOOD thing IMO.
  4. No QB Worst Defense in the league Terribe O line (the most shocking) Peterson is a non factor Jennings was a terrible signing Patterson is a bust so far. Floyd is a bust so far. Rhodes is meeehhhhh How can a team go 10-6, bring most everyone back AND have 3 draft picks and then put this garbage out week in and week out. I like Frazier, but the dude needs to get canned like...now!
  5. I'd say there is about a 90% chance Lincecum ends up in Seattle.
  6. The twins haven't sniffed the playoffs since Punto left town, and what has he done? Won a World Series and made the playoffs....
  7. Frankly, I think the whole "leader in the clubhouse" bit is overblown. The Twins main problem is they don't have good ball players on the roster currently, you could bring in the greatest "leader" in the history of the game and the Twins still lose 90+ games.
  8. Posey is a nice player no doubt, but Mauer has put up 4 140 or higher OPS+ in the last 5 years, Posey has only one in his last 4. In the same amount of years, Mauer has 6 years of 4+ (5 of which were over 5) WAR value, Molina has 2. How does Mauer fit with what the Twins are doing? He is still relatively young, is one of the best hitters in baseball on a team with the best farm in baseball and a very nice amount of payroll flexibility over the coming 2-3 years. If Joe Mauer was 36 and going into the last year of his contract in 2014, I can maybe understand that, but to imply they should get rid of him because he "doesn't fit" is ludicrous.
  9. Huh? Because a guy who is no longer even a league average 1B is not on the team, there is no reason to have one of the two or three greatest catchers of all time on the team?
  10. I have said it before and will say it again, coming out of High School Joe Mauer was one of the best QB prospects in the country, you don't become a top flight QB without being a great leader. Just because he doesn't run his mouth (stupidly) like Hunter, doesn't mean he isn't a leader. Leader's lead by example and Joe is the ultimate professional.
  11. No. Cano is going to get at least 200 million. There is zero reason to bring him in and tie up 45+ mil a year in two players for the better part of the next 6 or 7 years. The Dodgers or Yankees will bring him in.
  12. Leadership is not the problem with the Twins, the problem is half of the lineup and the entire rotation.
  13. They could trade Correia if need be. Ideally I would go into 2014 like this: 1. Ubaldo 2. Hughes 3. DeDuno 4. Gibson 5. Pelfrey/Correia In the wings: Vanimal, Meyer, Diamond, Albers
  14. Ubaldo (3 years) would be a great signing. Toss in Hughes(3-4 years) and Pelfrey (2 years) as well and I think you have the makings of a potentially halfway decent rotation if Meyer and Gibson can come along.
  15. They were getting their ass kicked the entire game. No reason to be running AD to possibly risk injury in a meaningless game. Additionally, in his early runs he wasn't getting much yardage at all (because once again the Vikes had no passing threat) At this point, Speilman and Fraiser almost certainly have to go. I like Fraiser a lot, but 3 years in and this team doesn't look like a contender. Hopefully freeman can turn this team around a bit, however with this **** defense, I don't see any way they win more than 6 games even with a kick ass offense.
  16. Yes, let's take the ONE legit MI this team has developed in the last 10-15 years and let's trade him. If Rosario forces the issue then its a very good problem to have and you do something at that point.
  17. LOL The Braves make the Vikings look like a clutch team in the playoffs
  18. I wouldn't call him a franchise QB at this point..
  19. Color me intrigued. Freeman did have a real nice year, two "ok years" and a couple bad years. If he can somehow manage to be even league average, this offense ends up clicking. Plus he is only 25, which is about 12 years younger then most retreads they bring in.
  20. Looks good so far!
  21. Gardy is the right man for the job, the fact that he would have had other offers within a day of getting "canned" proves this. People have said time and time again that Gardy should be let go, but I have yet to hear ONE person say who they should bring in instead that is a clear upgrade.
  22. I like it, it wasn't Gardy's fault and the players do like him.
  23. The twins should have Gibson, pelfrey and Correia as there 3/4/5 and go out and bring in two of josh Johnson, Ervin Santana, tim lincecum, etc etc to be the 1 and 2's
  24. I don't understand why people wouldn't want pelfrey back? After a horrendous start (after coming back very very quickly from TJS) he actually pitched rather solidly
