  1. At this point I think they have to try something outside the box, I am all for calling up Kepler to try to jumpstart something while the Twins are still in striking distance.
  2. again, that is football, and stupid anyways. "You play to win the game!"
  3. Wasn't my argument but off the top of my head:Santana, Boyer, Duensing, Pelfrey. Santana was given playing time over everyone else because of Molitors fondness for him ( I am a Santana fan actually) Duensing is getting out in spots where ORouke should. May on the other hand is clearly "not one of his guys", he banished him from the rotation and uses him poorly in the pen, often in low leverage spots.
  4. No matter how this season ends up, the twins should feel at least confident about the following (at least) heading into the off season. 2/3rds of the OF maybe all 3. 4/5ths of the rotation 2B 3B 1B options DH options closer Loogy There are certainly some holes, but nothing a free agent signing/trade or three could fix.
  5. The Twins now have a better waiver claim spot, thus making the chances for finding a bullpen, catcher or SS upgrade a good amount better since there won't be as many teams looking to block.
  6. I'm not saying he should PH for dozier, I'm saying he should PH for Robinson who really has no business being on this roster in the first place. And yes, hunter should be put through waivers, along with pretty much every player not named Dozier, Gibson, Rosario, Hicks and Sano at this point. It's August and the Twins are sliding, might as see if you can strike a deal. You can always pull anyone back if you don't get a good offer.
  7. Dombrowski would be a great hire by the Twins. I think a lot of the Tigers issues were due to an owner who got involved to much (that terrible prince fielder contract)
  8. Friendly reminder: St Peter is ultimately the one who green lit and defended the Marty Cordova/Cancer Kid commercial to try to guilt the public into a stadium deal before it got pulled ASAP due to outrage.
  9. And you DH Nunez currently in that situation? Mauer will be fine. Kepler can play RF.
  10. Fine: the twins are still more fun to watch then the Timberwolves...and soccer.
  11. and Shane Robinson he a career .611 OPS....
  12. i hear ya 100% re: Arcia, but that hopefully isn't Molitors call. What is his call is letting Hunter not PH. Speaking of which, if you weren't gonna PH for Robinson, why didn't you PH for Fryer with Hunter instead of Nunez. I know Nunez got a single and all...but I have to think Hunter would have had better odds not only to hit a single, but perhaps a double or HR as well....
  13. Or even if Hunter (PH) doesn't get a hit (or a walk) there is still a pretty decent chance the runners advance anyways. even a hit and run would be infinitely better than giving away an out on a bunt.
  14. If this team had Guerra, Neshek and Hendricks in the bullpen, I think they would be in first place overall in the wild card hunt. All three were given up so the Twins could keep guys like Fryer, Bernier, butera and another million crappy players with no upside on the 40 man.
  15. Any bat in Robinsons place would have been nice
  16. any strategy where the main benefit is "staying out of the double play" is a losing strategy.
  17. Gardy won a division title in his first season and won another 5. Molitor has a long ways to go before anyone can say molitor = gardy. It may have been time for a change after 10+ years of Gardy, but hell, he had a really nice run. I have next to zero faith in Molitor at this point that he will be able to pull anything close to that off.
  18. it actually didn't make sense at all. By every statistical measure and the fact you had Hunter on the bench. The only time it's not a terrible decision is if it's tied at the time. It has nothing to do with home/road, that is an old and outdated football (college football) strategy that doesn't make sense anyways. You have two runners on, hunter on the bench, no outs, a shaky as hell bullpen, and the top of the order up next, you try to get as many freaking runs you possibly can. Your don't give away free outs.
  19. the only defensible time to bunt in that situation is if the game is tied. Also, why the ever living **** has Shane Robinson played/started in 2 of the past 4 games?
  20. and if the Twins had a competent SS, GM or Catcher the game prob is 10-5, or if the Twins started May like they should have etc etc etc
  21. This team ****ing blow, Ryan doesn't have a god damn clue. Tossing Duffey a kid out for his first major league start, on the road, against the best offensive team in baseball. Well played Terry, well played. I wonder how many games this team has to lose in a row before he actually decides to make a roster change, I meant having 13 pitchers an no bench is cool and all, but at some point maybe you should try something?
  22. Hunter is sitting on the bench, down two runs, no outs, two guys on and yet again Molitor decides "hell what a great time to bunt" Whether it's the 2nd inning or 9th, Molitor seems to be obssesed with trying to play 1980's small ball by giving away important outs. Can Molitor change? Or are we doomed with this crap for the next 8-10 years?
  23. The Twins are so freaking overdue for a game with some good luck, I think the bats come alive and Duffy has one of those "rookie" nice starts because there isn't a whole lot of "tape" on him. Mauer shuts up the critics with 3 hits and a HR Sano 1 HR Rosario 3 hits twins win 9-2 Duffy: 7ip, 1 ER, 4 h, 1 BB 5ks
  24. The Mariners are my "number 2" team. Between them and the twins I have developed a healthy fear of bullpens.
  25. Also as it is more commonly known in Minnesota: "the bullpen"
