  1. One more prime example of Ryan doing a stupid move as a GM. Nobody else was going to give Hunter 10.5 million this year, why the hell do you just give him a no trade clause as well? Those are typically reserved for guys signing long term contracts in their prime, not for 39 year old one year contracts.
  2. Because now dont they have to wait 10 days before they call him up to the MLB club?
  3. seems like a perfect time to trade Hunter actually. Buxton needs to get the at bats eventually, whether it's today, 10 days from now or Sept. Gotta take those at bats from Hunter at some point this year. Might as well trade him while you can, get something in return, and get Hunter a chance at a ring.
  4. Also Bonnes, 3-12, they aren't contenders at this point with this club. Period, the only shot they would have to turn things around and to contend would be to cut the fat and bring up some superior players with actual upside: Berrios, Buxton, etc As far as "leadership" goes, where has been the leadership when the Twins have completely imploded 3-12 against some very very mediocre teams overall?
  5. The Twins outfield has something like a combined OPS+ between 100-103. I'm not sure that warrants "if that doesn't pleas you nothing can please you!" Also, the minute Terry Ryan refused to make any relevant move at the deadline and continues to not make moves to improve the team he made it clear the Twins have no real plans of contending this year. Hunter hasn't played poorly this year, but he also hasn't played great. He is at best an average hitter for his position (and that's being very kind) and at best an average Fielder for his position (super kind) who isn't going to be getting better and isn't going to be around after this year with the club. There is literally zero, and I mean zero reason why Buxton shouldn't be at the very least taking the at bats in the 2-3games a week that Hunter doesn't play anyways. What it all comes down to is Terry being uber conservative because he is able to, there is absolutely zero accountability for a guy who was named "general manager until he doesn't want to any more" despite 1 playoff series win in 17 years, by an ownership group who's 1st,2nd, 3rd, and 4th priorities are profit profit profit.
  6. True, teams like the Jays, Astros and the Mets go out and make moves. Is it a coincidence that those three are the hottest in baseball?
  7. it's actually the wrong move. For pretty much every single reason.
  8. but you were ready to write him off for not being ready after 11 games?
  9. Mr Ryan! What are you doing up at this hour? You know how cranky you get when you miss nap time!
  10. Hunter isn't even playing every day, and Rosario can use a day or two off against LHP anyways. This doesn't even include days when Mauer sits, which opens up the DH for Hunter anyways.
  11. Wasn't his service time clock never an issue to begin with? That is why he wasn't on the roster April 1st? This is just so ****ing stupid. If Robinson is playing 3 times a week, why the hell can Buxton not find a spot? It's like Ryan is trying to do everything in his power to get a higher draft pick or something.
  12. Can't blame the Twins, with the way things are clicking right now with the major league club, you wouldn't want to do anything to disturb the mojo.
  13. Fired up today eh?
  14. I would be interested to see the shifts from 2008 to 2015. 1996 means nothing to me.
  15. I'm not so sure about the Republicans under 40 comment. I sadly know a LOT of conservatives under 40 who are still very much against Gay Marriage. The south still has a real long ways to go IMO.
  16. yeah, I don't get the hate projected towards him. It's not like he signed a 50 million deal with the Twins and decided to not show up at all or something... It's a great story, I hope the guy is able to stick for a couple years and make a little scratch,
  17. Re runs of antique roadshow is a better comparison. MASH is awesome.
  18. This team is so bad to watch currently it's not even worth worrying about, it will be a minor miracle if they can even finish .500 at this point. Congrats Terry Ryan, 5 years in a row of this garbage! Other then tuning in for a Berrios start, Sano/dozier/Buxton at bat, not much else to really care about this team currently.
  19. Oops
  20. Dozier > Trout
  21. As long as Ryan is the GM the Twins shouldn't be trading any established players like Plouffe whatsoever, Ryan and co have shown ever since the AJ trade that he has no concept of trade value/trade skills.
  22. Signing Parise and Suter in turn also helped them sigh other talent later on. You always have to "pay" for talent in free agency, it's the nature of the biz, before this season it looked like the Pujols contract was a disaster, but he is a great hitter and turned it around, just like aRod, hopefully Joe can do that in 2016.
