  1. A rain out is just like a win!
  2. Way to early to call the May trade a mistake. I still think he could be a solid #2 type, of course they would have to put him the rotation first...
  3. Or Kyle Schwarber for that matte.....oops.

  6. According to Jerry Crasnick (and his two sources) the Braves are very seriously considering offering Mark DeRosa their open managerial spot. The Twins CAN NOT let this happen, in a season full of disasters it would be by far the biggest one if they let Mark DeRosa slip through their fingers. I feel bad for Mollie and don't think this season is his fault, but the time to build a world series contender for the future starts today, and Mark DeRosa is the clear choice to lead this time. Thus I implore you all to e-mail TR, the Pohlads, DSP and the rest to let them know to hire Mark DeRosa, now!
  7. plz stick to the topic at hand. LAST WARNING! jk
  8. At this stage they really should just consider cutting Nolasco outright, I know that they owe him a decent chunk of money, but he has been terrible this year and his attitude sucks to boot. He is never going to regain anything close to "trade value" so just dump him now, please. Might as well give Milone another shot, if he can reel off some quality starts over the next 8 weeks than perhaps we can get a C+ prospect out something at the deadline for him. Bonus if said prospect is a catcher with a smidge of upside. Adam Brett Walker is what he is, a power hitter that is going to strike out way too much, might as well give him a shot at the bigs and see if he can get that k% down to the 35% range or so. Good article overall Nick.
  9. Sano will be fine.

  11. I'm going to the home run derby and all-star game this year, which makes this thread even more depressing. Park is the only real answer to the Twins nominee who deserves it at this point. Of course that means since he is a DH he will get one at bat and be done in the game. Hopefully he can crush a few more bombs in the next few weeks and get a spot in the home run derby, that would at least be fun to witness.
  12. Which is a great example why FIP is not a good stat to use when it comes to SSS....
  13. Have seen a lot of takes recently that Ryan doesn't deserve the blame he is getting, maybe that is true, but it's hard to argue with the rotation he has actively built. Everyone on the opening day rotation with the exception of Gibson was someone who he brought in from the outside....the results thus far? Beyond terrible. $44 million spent this year on the opening day rotation for negative WAR overall. Ricky Nolasco: $49 million dollars (goes to 61 million if he has 400IP in 2016-2017 combined) (12 mil this year) 2016 numbers: 1-3, 5.54 ERA -0.4 WAR Ervin Santana: $44 million dollars. Goes up to 57 million depending on IP. (13.5 mil this year) 2016 numbers: 1-3, 4.17 ERA, 0.5 WAR Phil Hughes: $56 million dollars. ($9.2 mil this year, 13.2 mil the next 3 years) 2016 numbers: 1-7, 5.50 ERA, 0.0 WAR Tommy Milone: 4.5 million this year. 2016 numbers: 0-1, 5.79 ERA, -0.3 WAR Kyle Gibson: 587k this year 2016 numbers: 0-3, 6.10 ERA -0.2 WAR Conclusion: $44 million spent on the "opening day" rotation: 3-17, 5.37 ERA, -0.4 WAR
  14. People should really stop reading the local papers. Except for Russo, he is awesome.
  15. Tonight is the twins 45th game, they have now trailed at least at some point in 44 of those games.
  16. I believe you are looking for the: The 2016 Twins make me...... Thread
  17. To be fair it could be true, the only people who really know are the FO and the journalists. The timing of all of this is odd to say the least...especially the same weekend where there was a big article in the paper telling fans why they still should come out to watch twins games at target field...
  18. After taking another look, it looks like every draft the twins had between 2007-2011 were not very "special". Especially with huge question marks around Gibson and Rosario now. Yeesh.
  19. Actually yeah, you are right. I was trying to give the Twins the benefit of the doubt in this case, I thought at least they had "done" the draft ok overall. But this looks to be another area that has to be fixed/personal changed over. I guess the international scouting has at least done a good job? Sano, Kepler, Park all are nice players.
  20. It's important to keep in mind that a lot of the "worse" draft classes in that example were years the Twins were drafting mid to late in the first round. So basically, the last 4 year draft classes should definitely be looking more promising! That 2011 one looks rough currently, but looks to be the exception and not the rule. Overall if I had to guess the twins would Be slightly below average during this time, they certainly could have "hit" on more picks, but it could have been worse. Again that is purely a guess with no research.
  21. Yeah, great points, I probably let my Perkins homer glasses blind me to these things haha. I hope he comes back strong for us at some point either way though.
  22. Actually I would have been fine trading him at that point. My bad, I didn't realize it was that far into the deal.
  23. Yeah the Perkins thing is a bit too 20/20 in my eyes. You typically don't trade a guy one year or so into an extension/contract that he signed with you. Especially one that is playing effectively (at the time). The last thing you also want to happen anyways is be stuck with a team with no real closer, that is how Ramos for Matt Capps deals happen, and those are bad.
