I agree! The farm system was so far behind the 8ball by 2016 that Falvey had to spend extra years to get to where he can now trade or not from a position of power. We have never had 3 SP rookies deep that we basically have to count on for multiple starts in Aug/Sept to get us a division championship. The fact that we are even in this position instead of selling the farm for an aging vet that might be worn out but we hope he has 80 more innings in the tank. Maybe. Before his next IL stint. How many times have we HAD to make that trade?
Now we just trotted out Rookie SP #3 that has arguably the best stats in all of the minors.
Realistically, we could do about the same next year with different names and we still have all the other prospects that will be that much more developed and valuable.
The FO could then look at trading an extra/backlogged player straight up for a position of need. Think about next year if/when AK and/or Julien come back to MLB and have a Miranda ‘24 season. Someone will over pay for that type of player. We were super lucky to find that type in Castro for FREE. We got luck and momentum on our side!
Just imagine what the pipeline would look like if they hadn’t traded away so many prospects or drafted so many bad position player prospects.
seriously tho, did guys like Sabato, Prato and Cavaco need to be drafted?
There are lots of twins draft picks that won’t make it but we do uve ones that have high ceilings and solid floors. Its a completely different scenario than 10-25 years ago. Those years were brutal in high end player development.
I’m not going to temper my expectations. Zebby is a professional athlete who is well prepared. He is mature enough to handle it and maybe thrive quickly. KC’s lineup has a couple holes in it and a couple monsters. Its not a stretch to surmise that he is here to stay and that pitching pipeline has been doing exactly as it is supposed to.
SWR is looking dominant. He has that intimidating big dog mound presence. We gotta win tomorrow to send a message to the Guardians that they will be chasing us the rest of the year.
Lewis/Castro at SS and Miranda/Farmer/Castro at 3rd Castro/Martin at 2nd
There are a lot of possibilities and flexibility built into our roster without Lee or Correa
Great writing!!! The only thing that is constant, is change… and Martin in a state of constantly changing his location on the bases in a quick fashion. This, in itself is what makes the defense over compensate to stop him …. which leads to all the necessary evil to accomplish his impossible scoring rate. Don’t expect anything to change.
Next man up. Thats why you have a pitching pipeline full of Young talent. Varland should get his chance (again) Festa may be settling in. SWR needs to bring some lights out consistency. Dobnak should get a spot start sometime and throw in some guy named Trevor Bauer 🤷🏼♂️
We could end up with 3 pitchers in MLB that have top 12 stats for the whole season. They are pitching great now and if they keep it up thru October. Who is going to want to bat against us?
our 🐂 pen does not suck either!
What we know right now. Ober is on a heater.
Ryan has been Mr. Consistency while being almost as good as the start of if ‘23. He may finish ‘24 better that even that. He has quiet confidence.
Lopez is getting sneaky Ace production.
The FO and Ownership is clearly all in on riding the team we have to keep the winning window open for a decade. The draft, they develop and they trade only to supplement a hole or too. The gamble on their expertise to get rookies to produce and be above average. They both have a chip on their shoulders and it just might work. Home grown money ball.
