Nice way to trim some fat. Jace seems to have a shot. Good projectable frame. Hopefully the arm heals up. Probably hear more about him next season.

Play him at 1B more than LF in St. Paul. He needs to learn a different position cause his OF defense is below average.

They got 8 guys making $18M or more and Jeremy Pena making about $10M. Let’s not enable them to not pay luxury tax.- 56 replies

Im not saying release him now. He isn’t blocking anyone and will likely spend ‘26 fumbling around in st paul swinging and missing at most breaking balls. Im saying we wont have to see him or hear about him much because he will likely wash out. I really hope that I am wrong but we just spent $$ on Bell and Caratini & some other dude to maybe play 1B for a day or two. If Sabato had shown more over the last 5 years, he would be on the 40 man and likely would have played varsity last September.

@se7799 AAA players don’t get released, they become minor league free agents as they age out. Sabato is on that path if he doesn’t get put on the 40 man roster and contribute in MLB. I wasn’t a fan of his profile when he was drafted and he has not done enough to claim a 40 man spot with the twins or any other team via rule 5. He had a pulse for part of last season and he needs to build on that right away in ‘26 or the org will definitely give up on him and let him become a FA. Its been 5 yrs of futility so far. Its likely the last no. roster invite by the twins if he doesn’t develop a better hit tool very soon.

I was the guy begging to keep Rooker. Sabato was the 27th pick and has consistently under performed since being drafted. I sure hope he proves everyone wrong and is just a late bloomer but he has been a complete bust so far. For all of his pedigree, he has even gone undrafted in the minor league rule 5, let alone the mlb rule 5 twice.

It has to be the last we will hear of Sabato unless he improves has Gallo light profile finally. If only he could have developed into a viable 1B man. Its going to be fun watching K. Pepper and WJ. Hopefully they are they are the deal. It might actually be a fun season if those two and Erod play on varsity. Rosario may be the 4/5th OF RH that we have been looking for. They should play him at 1B in st paul more. Maybe Fedko is a for real late bloomer and snags the 4/5 OF spot by July. It sure seems like we have depth.

The Twins’ Updated Bullpen Picture is Missing Pieces
Fatbat replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The team has MANY young possible breakout candidates to become high leverage relievers. Exactly zero of them have proven anything. This is why there are many questions and possibilities. There will be more failure than success but we just need two high leverage options to come from somewhere to make the bullpen relevant.- 56 replies

Why Didn't the Twins Go Full Sell-Off?
Fatbat replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Of course not but Sands and Topa are serviceable and an average Rogers and Funderburk is a 4 player start to an average bullpen. 2 additional breakout guys or a FA closer signing that is wildly successful goes along way to having a serviceable bullpen. There will be some home grown rookie types that will be a chance along with the few minor league signings. Out of all of them, if 2 guys breakout and become high leverage stoppers/closers, we will be able to win games instead of rolling over after our starters are pulled out after pitching a strong 6 2/3 of 2 run ball.- 82 replies

Why Didn't the Twins Go Full Sell-Off?

Interesting take. It might work out in 3-4 years but its a big IF, if the prospects all become mlb regulars.- 82 replies

Why Didn't the Twins Go Full Sell-Off?
Fatbat replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Who knows what the rest of the offseason will bring but at this point, the bullpen only needs 2 guys to break out n a huge way. Yup, it’s a big ask, but it’s certainly possible when you throw enough guys at the issue. By August, we might actually win some games in the late innings.- 82 replies

Jeffers is going to be catching 2/3 or 3/4 games until he fails or breaks down. If he is wildly successful in his expanded role, he might get an extension of 3 years/$40M. That gets us all the way until one of the kids is ready to be the guy. At some point in our rebuild, the new partners are going to spend $$$ and it better be on having an allstar tandem C duo. Tait may be the cheap talent and Jeffers the grizzled vet who can also DH. Jeffers stays and gets paid if they actually want to compete.

We won’t miss him. The twins suck a little less today.

How Kaelen Culpepper Can Keep Forcing the Issue in 2026
Fatbat replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
All Houston has to do is find his bat and he will be one year behind K.pepper. We could be having this same conversation one year from now with Houston and Winokur. They both need to improve their bats while they are already polished defensively. We have such a stacked farm system that its not going to be possible to deal with just one prospect at a time. Im not saying every prospect is going to make it but we have had so many misses and now it seems like our drafting and development have improved to where the prospects we have, are going to be knocking down the door very soon. -
How Kaelen Culpepper Can Keep Forcing the Issue in 2026
Fatbat replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Great article! He has talent and what seems like relentless pursuit of greatness. Not everyone has that drive. The varsity needs that kind of guy at SS as Lee seems to lack the athleticism to stick there and be a viable big league bat. Lee might just make a great utility player but he is slow. If he can’t find the pop in his bat, he wont last long. With a hot start to ‘26, Culpepper could be a fast call up when an injury occurs. They always do. -
What's Next for the Twins After Signing Victor Caratini?
Fatbat replied to Nate Palmer's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The next signings better be some RP’s. Jhonny Pereda is still on the 40 man so I assume he will be catching in st paul. Maybe someone will give up a flier for Jackson but no idea what the market is for a baseline C. If you move Jeffers, they better get a very nice return cause Jeffers is cheap. And isn’t Wagaman getting some 1B love in ‘26? Our infield seems overloaded atm. If you are old enough to remember 1982, this offseason sure seems like 81/82. A ton of upper minor league talent and alot of BLAH on the MLB roster.- 57 replies
