  1. Agreed on that. I want something to happen and to get the ball rolling on the offseason.
  2. Who wants to bet, if he is available, that Sam Carlson is either the comp pick or the 1st pick in the 2nd round? He is on the top prospect lists for a reason, and even though he is a hometown kid, he has the ability.
  3. Yeah, I could see Kintzler or Pressly even potentially having value to the Dodgers. But I don't see a lot of other options for this. And why would the Twins would to trade prospects to get prospects? Why should they have to sweeten the pot with Dozier?
  4. Ideally they want talent, no? Has Rosario shown, yet, that he can be a starting caliber outfielder at all? I mean, maybe a platoon helps help by far, but if they can upgrade completely on him, isn't that a good thing. And, I don't think Joc Pederson is gettable here.
  5. MLB Pipeline released their top 50 draft prospects today! Fun to look through the list!http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2017?list=draft
  6. Nope. He said he was hearing from a number of places.
  7. I'd love to get him, but I think he is too much for the Dodgers to give up. I know Trayce Thompson and Andrew Toles have been mentioned, and I would guess if the Twins are getting more guys who are on the current roster, it is guys at that level.
  8. Darren Wolfson, on his podcast from last night, said he is hearing that a Dozier to the Dodgers deal, with De Leon in the package, is being heavily discussed, and he wouldn't be surprised to see a deal done in the very near future. Just FYI. More smoke to the fire.
  9. Hawkeye; I am curious what you think of De Leon. He is a highly thought of prospect, no doubt. That said, he threw under 90 innings this past year and a career high 114 in 2015. If he is still on the dodgers next year, would he really be ready to pitch 140 or more innings?
  10. How was Puig after he came from he demotion? Was there a coach or coaches that he worked with better than others? And I know I read somewhere in this thread that he and De Leon are close now, maybe because of the demotion. Is that true?
  11. It does have to be a deal that works for both sides, which is good
  12. DaveW, any update? It's strange to go 4 whole hours in this thread without someone updating it. Thanks!
  13. I don't think this is an accurate statement.
  14. See, if we are taking a 3 year mlb career, including Santana's amazing (for him) 2014, his career numbers look almost respectable. But, in 2015, Santana was worth -1.4 War, and in 2016 he was worth -.7 war. So he was that much worse than a replacement level player. Plus, Santana in the last 3 years has a walk percentage of 4.4 (2014) 2.2 (2015) and 4.8 in 2016. Profar, for all of his faults, even through his minor league career consistently has a walk rate of at or above 10%. Basically, he is a lot more valuable than Danny Santana, even if he is just a replacement level player. I am curious as to what anyone sees in Santana, to be honest. A fresh start somewhere else may help him, but I don't see how people can argue that he is even replacement level.
  15. I don't think the Twins are holding out because they feel like they would LOSE the trade if they get less than the White Sox received for their players. I think the Twins would make a trade of Dozier, or anyone, if they found equal value coming back for that player. Truth is, all of us fans read scouting reports about prospects in other systems, but don't have any idea what the future holds for any of them. The Twins have people who are paid to study all of their players, and look at other team's players, and come up with a value system to see where they can maximize value.
  16. Profar is an interesting case study though. He was the #1 prospect in the minors across baseball for at least 2 years, and hasn't played all that much in the last couple due mostly to injury. To compare him to Florimon is extreme, I believe, but to assume he will be a star may also be a bit much at this time. Last year, in limited time (90 games and 307 at bats) he hit 239/321/338. His walk rate was still good (9.8%) and his strikeout rate was just under 20%. Even then, he graded out well defensively, even though most of his time was at 3B, 1B and in the outfield, compared to SS. He will turn 24 in February. That means he is still younger than most regulars (Polanco is 5 months younger) and he has a pedigree that most others don't. It's arguable if Polanco, Escobar, Gordon and for sure Javier can play SS at the major league level, and it absolutely still is for Profar. If the Twins made a move for him, I'd have to believe it is because Thad Levine knows something about him that would be worth taking a shot. Still, man, to compare him to Florimon. You don't see that as silly in any way?
  17. My bad then. The part you had originally quoted, which I was writing back about, still seemed confusing to me in how it was worded. I could see why thinking the total of players being mentioned was 5 or 6 instead of 3 or 4.
  18. I would LOVE this move. I do think he could be a good shortstop for 2017, and then move forward otherwise. I don't know what it would take (I would absolutely do Ervin for him, but I would think Texas would want more, so I'd be open to listening) but he would be a great bargain and a solid young player to build around here.
  19. I think what you quoted was worded poorly. DaveW has been saying forever (since this thread started) that Alvarez and De Leon are agreed upon, and the other piece or two are being discussed. So, his offer is 3 or 4 total players, already including Alvarez and De Leon. Not 6 total players.I don't know if Alvarez is up in the discussions or not, just wanted to clear up what DaveW said the offer was
  20. DaveW, if the deal is De Leon, Alvarez and another aaaa player or two, do you have names of specific other players? Just curious. Thanks again for this thread
  21. So do you think it is only prospects then? Or could the twins also get back a Trayce Thompson or Andrew Toles, for example?
  22. No offense, but you know this how? He has talent, real talent, and that is kind of in short supply here, even though the twins are a rebuilding team. Plus, he and De Leon are close friends apparently, so having them both here could help
  23. I don't know where the twins thinking is, but I would LOVE getting Puig. Especially since we are talking trading of Dozier because he is at the height of his value. Puig, I don't believe, is anywhere near the height of his. Put him with De Leon and another prospect, that is a great haul!
  24. Or Puig, Toles, Thompson, Barnes and a few others mentioned
