  1. Does the coaching staff at Cedar Rapids get moved up next year? I still think the crew at New Britain has been the likeliest to go.
  2. He has been more than I expected and I am sure the Yankees were wondering where that was. However, sometimes a change of scenery does make a difference. Although, I suppose a person could give Rick Anderson and the staff credit for getting Hughes to this point and stop harping about Worley, because he is turning back into the Worley we knew and didn't love anyways, but we know that won't happen on this board
  3. So far so good for this 2014 draft. Curtiss striking out ten the other night. Burdi promoted after his first outing looked putrid, Gordon holding his own in a league where he is very young. Batts, pretty good for a 17th round pick.
  4. Well I believe Steinbach is the bench coach, so yes we would need another pitching coach and Cuellar would be fine by me.
  5. I really want the Royals to beat the Tigers and their fantasy league starting staff and AAA bullpen, including Joe Nathan, who continues to walk boat loads of people. The Royals have a good pitching staff with young guys in the majors and people like Zimmer waiting in the wings and a great bullpen. However, I doubt the resign Shields and Vargas seems to have caught lightning in a bottle this year. We will see what happens next year.
  6. As much complaining as there has been about the poor Target Field product, Terry Ryan has replenished the farm system to its usual form. The future I believe is bright, but its taking a long time. I have also finally come to the realization that even though I like Gardy as a manager, it may be time for a new voice. I'd be fine with Molitor and keeping Steinbach and Bruno, but the rest of the staff needs a change. I am probably one of the last on this site to come to this realization. As for Terry Ryan, I would keep him in his place though.
  7. As much as we are not seeing it at Target Field, the minor league system has really been built back to the normal TR standards
  8. Well, all I can say is I'm glad he got this one out of the way This makes Pino look a little better, doesn't it?
  9. Vargas, Santana and Hopefully May and Meyer will be reasons to keep watching in my book.
  10. I'm guessing May also, but I'll take either
  11. I would imagine Colabello is going to get optioned because Vargas will take the DH spots and Parmalee stays because he can play OF
  12. I expect to see May and Milone very soon. While I would at least like to see him get a couple of starts this year with the Twins, I wouldn't be shocked if he's left in Rochester, especially if the Wings are in the playoffs

    Why I Liked Bill Smith

Mr. Smith did make deals, mostly bad ones... I guess I'd take TR any day. He got Milone for a waiver wire pickup this year. There was no market at all for Hammer and Correia.
  14. Really, he is not part of the future of the Twins staff, plus he had a 7+ ERA at Rochester, so Gene Glynn should be shown the door also. We were lucky to get the one season out of him that he had since he was a waiver pickup if I remember correctly. Under your thinking, the Yankees pitching coach should be fired for Hughes turning it around. Remember, this is AAA only.
  15. Duensing is overpriced at this point and the Twins have plenty of replacements in the bullpen. The 40-man is littered with junk as stated. Who needs to be added this year from the minors?
  16. The only trades I see coming together are for a couple of our bullpen guys. Suzuki really doesn't have much of a market if the O's aren't interested. The Hammer is starting to come around a little too late for the July 31 deadline. I still would have hoped Correia gets moved just to allow a younger guy to take his place. BTW, cannot get higher prospects unless you have guys that are worth it. This year, the Twins trade commodities aren't.
  17. CR has some exciting pitchers to watch in Burdi, Stewart, Thorpe, Gonsalves, Hu, and Gallant have all been tremendous here. Eades, even though a 2nd Round pick has been overshadowed by these guys. He seems to give up a lot of dingers. Max Murphy finally got going after being shellshocked for a couple of games out of rookie ball. Love Mauer and Watkins as coaches also, I can see Smith being knocked out of NB and see some movement up for minor league coaches. Great job because besides Garver, hitting has been suspect.
  18. Going to be more interesting to see the starts for Meyer and Berrios than the actual Twins game tonight. Question, do you have to be on the 40-man when September call-ups come? I always assumed so.
  19. I am a big Gardy supporter, but I too, have come to the conclusion that there has to be a change at manager and with the coaching staff. I think I would keep Bruno since he has worked with the guys coming up the system. As for GM, Ryan has built the minor league system back into a powerhouse. Now was that because of skill or just bad records and high picks? I don't know. If Gardy goes, I wouldn't be shocked if TR steps down to tend to his health, however, I want him to stay actually. Ownership showed Billy Smith the door (sort of) and Jim P does not happy in his latest public comments. Do you let Gardy finish the season?
  20. Amen to this. It's time for May and Meyer to start getting some major league innings, along with Achter, Tonkin and Oliveros
  21. Another waiver wire pickup by Ryan that certainly contributed to our division championship teams. Boy that seems like a long time ago
  22. The Rays are making their usual second half run and their bullpen is a mess, including closer.
  23. Even with all of the Pohlad haters out there, I have no issue in my mind that they will spend money, based upon the history the last couple of years. There is no sense to spending money, just to do so. Not sure what we will need in FA next year that cannot be replaced just as well by our own farm system. The Twins are not going to give over 30 pitchers more than 3-4 year deals, which I am fine with. Lester and Scherzer are not going anywhere in my opinion. While Shields intrigues me, he's 33, and I wouldn't give him more than 2-3 years at most, but all you are doing is blocking May and Meyer. Pick up a veteran OF/DH type player and stick Santana at SS, and Plouffe at 3b until Sano is ready. Wouldn't even mind bringing Suzuki back.
  24. Excited to see him in CR next year! Great post
