  1. Think that had anything to do with Harmon being an Idaho boy?
  2. I didn't know that, I can listen to day games at work
  3. I think a couple more starts at AAA working on the change up might be helpful. Sure he probably walks too many also, but it's helpful that he can get out of jams by himself with the strikeout
  4. I'll never forget the series where Fred Lynn kept hitting HRs game after game. Ray Milker would be the MGR, who got replaced by some geeky looking guy I'd never heard of
  5. I'm very excited also, we seem to have clutch hitting back again, example, getting two more hits in the first inning that plated three runs. If our starters were halfway decent at this point, besides Gibson, .500 is definitely attainable. (I know, low bar, but after the last three years, I'll take it)
  6. I don't think Hicks is going anywhere. At least we can get Willingham, Kubel and Colabello out of the game in late inning situations.
  7. If indeed this new changeup grip is going to be effective, this kid has #1 starter written all over him. May seems to have found some control also, so this is getting pretty exciting.
  8. Clutch hit after clutch hit. Sure he does K a bunch, but I will take that with his production. That video with his mother is certainly classic! Couldn't be happier for him. He has been the best cleanup hitter we have had since Mornie before the concussion.
  9. I am not worried, Joe will turn in his usual hitting year and should play in many more games.
  10. Trevor May with an impressive outing, cannot wait to unload Correia to get Meyer or himself up here
  11. Good move by Jason. He was a great contributor for the Twins. Maybe he can teach Santana and Polanco. That last game in the OF made him come to the realization that it wasn't going to work
  12. Great for Justin, a class act
  13. Let's look back on the roster decisions from spring training: Gibson as 5th Starter - Good Keeping Kubes after awful spring - Good Colabello as your 25th player - Good Pinto as your backup catcher/DH - Good Bartlett - can't get them all right Deduno in the pen - jury is still out on that If you said we'd be 7-7 after 14 games at the beginning of the season, I would have taken that in a heartbeat. Now lets see if Pelfrey can get straightened out.
  14. Nobody is going to take that salary yet
  15. No way Dozier gets traded, I am convinced that he is the future and that Rosario's is in the OF. You can see the pieces starting to come together. Pinto's bat seems like the real deal. We do need that SS, unless Santana can field better. Meyer is looking ready and excited to see If May can follow up on his first outing with the same control. Tonkin for sure looks like the setup guy for Perk.
  16. Very impressed by Tonkin. Would love to see him stay
  17. Gibson with two wins, Meyer and May, Duffey, Berrios, Stewart, Eades and many more. That's why baseball will keep my attention all year
  18. It is so exciting watching the young pitchers at all levels. The new "M&M" boys, Meyer and May at AAA are off to great starts, OK 1 outing each, but I need some starting pitchers to get excited about.
  19. Polanco just has to shore up his defense
  20. It was just shocking to me the fall off in Kubel's numbers last year. If he was injured, that would certainly explain some things. So far, it doesn't look like he has lost it. As for Colabello, it is nice to see the guy rewarded for his hard work and refusing the Korea assignment, and the money that comes with it. He seems to be cutting down on his K rate and will certainly get at bats this year to see if he can be a long time bench/DH guy when the youngsters start appearing. As we all figured in ST, the pitching is alarmingly bad and the hitting has been just great, go figure....
  21. In the NBA its the lower leg contusion... In any event, now Pinto is free to DH further against lefties when Kubel can sit. Hope Aaron has his running shoes on because he has a lot of area to cover.
  22. I understand people are frustrated by the last three years, but I continue to believe that this team is better and will win about 75 games this year. The only move I still don't get is having Bartlett on the roster. All the bitching about Kubel being there also has been silenced for the moment. The two people who really earned a spot in ST, Colabello and Gibson are off to decent starts. Florimon cannot hit, I agree, but he can field and is not as much of a liability as when the team is not hitting. Have you seen the error numbers of our SS at the minor league levels, atrocious. Having fun so far this season, exciting Twins games (not very well played, but exciting) and following all of the supposed stud pitchers on the farm.
  23. Legitimate OF and 3rd catcher. Colabello should be back up 1b
  24. Congratulations to Gardy. While TK was my favorite manager, I have always liked. Gardy and you cannot argue with 1000 wins. Our managers haven't deserved to be fired with some of the product the FO has supplied both TK and Gardy. Is Gardy the person to lead the new wave, that is another question.
  25. DJ Baxendale made his first start today for the Rock Cats vs the Richmond Flying Squirrels. Baxendale failed to make it out of the 5th inning, pitching 4 2/3 inning surrendering 2ER on 6 hits. Baxendale struck out two and walked one. He left the game behind but the Cats rallied for a 4-3 victory on Waring's 8th inning HR. By the time Baxendale left the game, he had thrown 89 pitches
