    They may be injured by then. You buy low and you sell high. That's how you build a winner if you can't buy a winner. The Twins are not equipped for winning in 2026. Falvey has to understand this. And no new ownership partners are going to be able to change that.

    Not selling high on Lopez, Jeffers, Ryan and/or Buxton would be the worst move possible. Will it really be thrilling to watch a 74 win team knowing that we've let future chances for impact players just slip away? Yuck. There is no core left. Get on with this rebuild now. This ratty, bloody band-aid is dangling - tear it off and let's get on with a new era of Twins baseball.

    The beauty of baseball is watching a winning club in action, not imagining one. It's long past time for this team to pick a lane. and they seemingly did last trade deadline. It's a rebuild. So commit to it. There is nothing even remotely realistic about this club and the playoffs in 2026. And that's fine. Build now for future success.

    Well, they've made the wrong move at every step, so I expected them to keep that streak intact. Selling high on Ryan, Lopez and Buxton is EXACTLY the RIGHT THING to do at this time. This is a nothing club. They'll be signing no one. They are going nowhere in the near future. So, of course they're going to keep the "core" together and let them moulder in the AL Central. It's the worst move possible, and they've proven a knack for pulling all the wrong levers.

    There will never be a better time to make a trade. I don't want to see him flounder on a AAAA team. If he's got some left in the tank, let him excel on a grander stage.

    A better style of play. More accountability and self-respect. That's all I'm asking of Shelton at this point. Ownership is going to leave him with absolutely nothing in terms of payroll. So be it. These are the new dark days of Twins baseball. But the players coming in have got to learn to play the game with more skill and composure. This is a AAA team for the foreseeable future. Let's be a AAA team that can at least look itself in the mirror after nine innings.

    Still waiting for the "Rocco as fall guy" narrative to finally get buried. If ever a managerial firing was called for, it was his. Terrible ownership decisions after 2023 don't excuse abject collapses on the field in 2021, 2022, 2024 and 2025.

    I don't think there's any way to supplement the roster to make a winner. As many have noted, the time for that approach was two offseasons ago. Now, the focus just has to be on building the scouting and coaching infrastructure for a winning club. Focus, attitude, fundamentals. Other teams are going to beat the Twins a lot over the next four years. I just don't want to keep seeing the Twins beat themselves.

    That clip feels like it came from a lifetime ago. I can't imagine how any owner could see a raucous, electric postseason Target Field and not put more chips on the table. But that's the ownership we have. A nothing franchise, with no heart, no guts and no vision. Yes, baseball is often unpredictable, but trust me, the Jays and the Twins will not be switching places anytime soon.

I'm not even sure if they're in the top ten in the AL. I mean, I appreciate the optimism, but come on. And working in unison with the FO is not at all something I'm looking for in a Twins manager. Not until that FO changes hands.

    Yes to Hunter. Big yes. It gives him the opportunity to advance his career, and he brings an approach to the game that is sorely needed here. And he won't just let the FO or ownership puppeteer him.

    Yes. The guy cannot communicate a single direct idea. Here are quick re-writes of his three corporate-speak quotes included in the article: "Not all of this is on Rocco, but we have to bring in a new voice." "There are a lot of skills we're looking for - I can't get into all of them right now." "We'll put an emphasis on player development skills for the whole roster." Falvey communicates like a man who's afraid to say the wrong thing ... so he ends up saying nothing. We've had too much of this style for far too long.

I'm going to set aside this old strawman argument (for the record, almost no one was asking Rocco to flip chairs and tables - let's put this nonsense to rest) and just point out that you seem to have nailed Rocco's problem without realizing it: his teams played profoundly uninspired baseball. Again, highest payrolls in the AL Central. Top-ranked farm systems. Routinely picked in preseason and midseason predictions to be an AL Central Championship team or a playoff team. Flop, flop, flop. Over and over again. People love to say that his 2023 team broke the record playoff losing streak while conveniently forgetting that his tenure here actually set that record. Rocco absolutely was a part of the problem here ... and he may actually have been THE problem.

    It's not a no-win situation. It's more like a 60-win situation. Hey, there are only 30 of these positions available. If you're a potential candidate trying to break into - or break back into - MLB coaching, you have to start somewhere. If any manager can just increase the quality of approach and play, that should be considered a huge win. Re-establish a winning culture through a few tough seasons and the bigger Ws won't be too far behind.

    I just don't get the scapegoat talk. You look at the record, the underperformance, the collapses - Mr. Rogers could have bought this team and HE still would have fired Rocco. He certainly appears to be a truly decent guy, and I appreciate that he never dishonored the club with crude statements or behavior. But being a good guy is just not enough at this level. I mean, have we ever considered that Rocco actually was THE problem? That this team, at a crucial stage in their cohesion, needed something a bit more disciplined than a loose, friendly clubhouse? Something a bit more task-oriented that a "feel-good" guy that players liked? Somebody who, instead of getting praise from the FO for following orders, actually pushed back on commands that were making the team predictable and easy for opponents to game-plan against? I'm not saying definitively that Rocco was THE problem, but it's not out of the question. I mean, they often had a top AL Central payroll and a highly-ranked farm system. This team absolutely became sluggish, sloppy and listless, and often feel apart when faced with a challenge. That suggests a real problem with leadership in the dugout. Sometimes nice guys are not great managers.

    This just needs reposting. Again and again and again. Rocco was not good at his job. Period.

    There is nothing even remotely BS about this. Not a single thing. You fail repeatedly - and so spectacularly - at this level, you fall. It's the gravity of the job. He was repeatedly given the AL Central's highest payroll and a top farm system. He repeatedly got next-to-nothing out of this club. If his firing is BS, it's BS that it took this long to happen.

    Correct. The minority investors have no increased ownership stake in the future It sounds like they are merely east coast chums of the Pohlads, just chipping in to help them clear their debts. Perhaps they're also hoping that boosts in revenue sharing will provide a few additional dollars down the line. They will have zero impact on this team being competitive.

    For Buxton's sake, I hope Provus is right. He deserves better. We all do, but changing jerseys is easier than changing fandoms. Get the good, established guys out of here, stat. Clean house and start over. They'll be nothing happening here until the 2030s at least.

    2025 broke me. The most disgusting season in all my time as a fan. I was blessed with two title runs in my youth, and I'm so sad that today's young people get these Twins instead. Just a nothing organization, run by fools and headed absolutely nowhere. No guts, no heart, no grit, no brains ... nothing. The Pohlads, Falvey and Rocco have brought shame to this fanbase and this state.

    Beautifully written, but there is no "core" here. There is literally nothing to build a championship on. It may happen in the distant future, but none of the players on this year's roster will be involved. There is no championship foundation here at this point. It will take a decade of disastrous records and can't miss draft positions to put this team in position to win. And even then, they'll need an all-new coaching staff at all levels. This team is probably the farthest in all of MLB from a contention window.
