  1. Some decisions will need to be made when it would have been Zebby's turn. SWR? Adams to the rotation? If someone is called up, a bullpen arm has to go. Of course, someone else could end up on the IL today or in the next few days.
  2. It's no longer early in the season. All teams have played at least 60 games and the calendar has turned to June. Here is a collection of former Twins having good years: Rob Refsnyder .292 BA .915 OPs Ronnie Henriquez 3-1 2.73 ERA 41 Ks in 29 innings. Carlos Santana (ageless!) .255 .744 OPS, 1.3 WAR Caleb Thielbar 1.93 ERA 1 save 2.59 FIP Sonny Gray 7-1 3.35 ERA 81 Ks in 75 IP Trevor Megill 12 SV 2.95 ERA Emilio Pagán 15 SV 3.58 ERA Taylor Rogers 2.66 ERA Steven Okert 2.20 ERA 35 Ks in 28 IP Jorge Polanco .778 OPS 10 HR (used primarily as a DH) Tyler Mahle 2.02 ERA (has taken his turn every 5th or 6th day) Brent Rooker .820 OPS 13 HR
  3. Royals selected the contract of Trevor Richards. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/06/royals-select-trevor-richards.html
  4. Nice little play by Clemens. He looks to me to be the best defensive 2B the Twins have on the roster.
  5. Wasn't a terrible pitch, up in the zone, but the batter got to it.
  6. Adams recalled, Funderburk optioned. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/06/twins-travis-adams-mlb-debut.html
  7. Theodore Tollefson is reporting that Adams indeed is being called up in time for tomorrow's game with the Blue Jays. My guess would be that Funderburk is optioned, but an Alcalá DFA could happen.
  8. Yes, they could have gone with Ober, but Festa was fully rested and this way all of the other four starters get an extra day. IMHO a judgement call that didn't work out. Incidentally, Festa gets an extra day of service time than if he were recalled tomorrow since that is supposed to be an issue.
  9. I think the defense is much improved with Buxton and Correa thus far playing in more than 80% of the games. Add in Bader, Lee and (surprise) France and subtract Miranda and Julien and it is a better defensive group. Yes, they don't have much team speed and the hitting has been inconsistent (as of this morning they were 16th in runs scored--right in the middle of MLB).
  10. Funderburk was already optioned this year, so he can be optioned again. A couple of years ago MLB also put a limit on the number of times an option could be used (5?), so that does limit the Triple A shuttle. I know Alcalá has an option year left, but has enough service time to refuse a minor league assignment. I wonder if he would consider going down to the minors to "work on stuff" if the alternative is DFA. I think it's time to move Fundy and/or Alcalá. They have not shown to be trustworthy in any way and are a drag on an otherwise really good bullpen. Losing López does mean that having a multiple inning guy in the 'pen becomes much more necessary, although I don't think the stress has come to bear at this point. The guy with the best ERA in the Saints bullpen is Richard Lovelady (not on 40-,man) and Adams is intriguing because he has worked multiple innings out of the bullpen.
  11. Bride really has no role here if everyone is available. Utilization has been interesting. One thing that has happened is that Brooks Lee is clearly the second shortstop on the team. If Lee and Castro are both in the infield, Lee takes short and third over Castro. It appears Willi will be in the lineup every day, giving just about everyone a day off. Also, until and unless he cools off, Clemens will be starting against right handed pitching. If it is between Castro and Clemens to play OF and second base, Roger’s kid plays second. DH is available, most frequently Larnach, but also Jeffers and Lewis (for now). In at least one game Wallner DHed while Larnach manned right field. Finally, if Bader and Castro are the two corner OFs, Willi plays right field and Bader Tater plays left.
  12. Scott Blewett pays the price for the Braves’ bullpen meltdown.
  13. When he’s good, he’s very, very good and when he’s bad he’s terrible.
  14. .500 isn't bad, considering 11 of the 16 games were on the road. Quality of opponent has been pretty good until they played the Athletics.
  15. It looks like TBA was 0-3 in this series, or was it 0-4?
  16. Yeah, they're the last two guys in the BP. Maybe two or three times a month they'll pitch in high leverage and maybe they'll succeed half the time. I'd rather have the aforementioned Scott Blewett than Alcala despite his outing today and I think one of the St. Paul relievers (perhaps Lovelady) should and maybe will take Fundy's spot.
  17. For those who are saying the Twins should never lose to the A's, the White Sox split a series with the mighty Tigers. Every team is going to lose 50 games, even if they are clearly superior to their opponents. KC is playing a team with similar talent and they will be playing the rubber game later today. Cleveland has won one of two vs. the Evil Empire and will be playing the third game this evening. I think the divisional race will come down to divisional play. So far, the Twins haven't fared well against anyone except the Pale Hose, but they have plenty of games to change the current deficit with the Tigers and to stay ahead of Cleveland and KC.
  18. It makes zero sense to use the 60-day IL until a 40-man spot is needed. With Lopez’ injury the Twins can add a player without exposing someone to the DFA process.
  19. A's starters are all probably better than their numbers, what with the bullpen letting in plenty of inherited runners.
  20. If they use Stewart, then Durán, the front end might be a little depleted for Festa's start tomorrow.
  21. Topa pitched two straight days, so likely out today.
