  1. He just doesn't have the command to be consistently good. Certainly he has enough stuff to get hitters out, but the meltdowns are too frequent to justify continuing in the Twins bullpen. Time to move on.
  2. No Buxton in the lineup. I’m assuming a scheduled day off two days after returning from the Concussion IL.
  3. Buxton has been the Twins best position player, but he's about the last guy I want to see at the plate with the potential winning run on third and less than two outs.
  4. Off topic, the Nationals have had 16 of their first 19 hitters reach base. They scored 10 in the first and have the bases loaded with no one out in the second inning.
  5. The IBB was the right play, but in the bottom of the tenth, they will have Rodriguez as the free runner, not ideal.
  6. All set in motion by the short start by Ober. I'm sure it would have been Jax for the eighth and Durán for the ninth, but they had to use their two good middle guys in the fifth and sixth. Choosing between Fundy, Alcalá and Topa isn't optimum. I guess I might have chosen Topa, but he might have been just as bad.
  7. Alcalá-when he's good he's pretty good and when he's bad, he's terrible.
  8. Whole new infield. Probably shows where Bride stands on the roster.
  9. It has been fun, but hard to believe it would last.
  10. Guardians came from behind to beat the Angels, so the Twins' co-competitors finished 2-1 today.
  11. Jorge López DFA'd by the Nationals. He has really had an up and down career. He's going to be one of my favorite Immaculate Grid entries with all of the teams he has played for. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/05/nationals-to-designate-jorge-lopez-for-assignment.html
  12. Either St. Paul or the Injured List. The Rangers brought Corey Seager back too soon and had to put him back on the IL and I think there’s ample evidence that Lewis isn’t physically right yet. There’s enough depth to cover third base without Lewis and bringing back the guy who played like a superstar his first 100 games is worth not having the diminished player we’ve seen the last 10 months.
  13. Things look a lot better today than if they had lost the game last night. Instead of being 1-3 on the trip, they break-even (2-2) with an excellent chance to win a road series (two good experienced pitchers taking the ball and only needing one win to take the series). The team has the #1 wild card and a lead on both Cleveland and KC. This is their second comeback from a 4-run deficit in the last week after going about a year without winning from such a deficit. Lots of heroes—Larnach, Correa, Buxton, Castro and Zebby for starters—and other guys added key hits. Hopefully the Twins can jump on the Mariners early and take advantage of a good time going through a bad time. Don’t throw Raleigh a strike with runners on!
  14. I don’t know if not activating Wallner is defensible, but maybe they want to see how he reacts playing two games in a row before they activate the Moose.
  15. He was in for defense in the middle game of the Tampa series, so only two days……
  16. Correct, it was at the Metrodome. Probably the best regular season game involving the Twins.
  17. If they haven't been recalled by the time Luke Keaschall is ready to return, I agree with you. It is hard to imagine that Clemens will stay hot indefinitely, but if neither Miranda or Julien hit their way back to the majors, all Clemens has to do is be serviceable.
  18. Exactly. In order to be playable, they have to be above average hitters and right now neither guy is above average at Triple A. To be a major league regular, both guys have to be far above average hitters.
  19. I was in the park for a Dozier grand slam homer the last game before the All-Star break in 2018 and a Miranda walkoff homer against Josh Hader in 2022. The first game I saw in person this year ended with a Ty France single against the Mets. Other than games I was at, Thome's moon shot against the White Sox was probably the most memorable and hearing the White Sox broadcast later made me smile.
  20. Alignment of players has much more to do with Keaschall and Lee than Lewis IMHO. Is Lee a core player? If so, is he better suited to second or third? The first question applies to Keaschall and if affirmative, what position fits him? If all three are deemed core players (I hope so!) moving Lewis off third base could happen because Lee. (probably) is the superior defender of the three and Keaschall might be limited to second base. The point is Royce Lewis is the most known quantity of the players making up the infield around Correa and as recently as ten-eleven months ago was considered the most valuable asset on the team. I don’t think it’s pie in the sky to consider Lewis as a future All-Star, but there is much more doubt than a year ago.
  21. I have been among those who have thought aloud about Lewis moving to first base, but the thought process was finding a regular position that fit his defensive skills since his bat played anywhere until after the All-Star break of ‘24 (actually about a week before the break). The idea wouldn’t be to move him around, but to find him a place to start 130 games per season. With so few PAs this year, Lewis could be a victim of rotten luck, but if he can’t run hard maybe he shouldn’t be on the active roster. The batted ball data indicate he’s close to breaking through, so maybe giving him a bit more time is in order, but he’s got to be healthy.
  22. On the previous road trip, it looked like Lewis was on the way to being good again. He was moving better and getting hits including a homer (and almost a second one) in Milwaukee. All of that seems as far away as the 2023 playoffs. 0-24 is a pretty long snag. What I see is a guy who's unsure that his legs will hold up and when I see him jogging to first base on a double play grounder, I think he should be put back on the IL. If there isn't really an injury, I have to believe the best answer is to send him to the minors. I haven't seen every game, but in what I have seen Lewis has been pretty good in the field, but he's got to hit in order to be a real contributor to the team.
  23. I've thought it would be nonsense to send Lewis to the minors, but his slump has been epic and not in a good way. Most of his outs have been weak contact although yesterday he hit the ball hard (I didn't see the game). Whatever it takes to right the ship for Royce Lewis should be done and a trip to the minors or back to the IL if the effects of the injury are lingering, should be in play. Bride isn't exciting, but he is competent and right now he's hitting much better than Royce Lewis.
  24. Ildemaro Vargas, briefly a Twin in 2020, will rejoin the Diamondbacks. Vargas is one of my favorite entries in the Immaculate Grid, due to playing on a lot of teams and his nearly anonymous stay with the Twins. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/05/diamondbacks-to-option-jordan-lawlar-sign-ildemaro-vargas.html On a much sadder note, former Twins pitcher Scott Klingenbeck died at age 54, apparently related to long-term alcohol abuse (or addiction). He was acquired in the Scott Erickson trade and had a pretty forgettable career.
