  1. Since coming to the Twins, Bride has raised his average by 112 points.
  2. It would be nice to add on. That park has been a house of horrors for the last few years.
  3. Good news to get to the bullpen in the first game of a four-game series. A lot of meat left on the bone in the first two innings however.
  4. Buxton is a really good player, but he's the last guy I want to see up with the bases loaded and one out.
  5. Bride already has more hits for the Twins than he had in 40 at-bats with the Fish.
  6. Wasn't close at the plate, but it's probably worth it to try with two outs and the bottom of the order up.
  7. Bride is starting today vs. a right hander. In his very limited time with the Twins, he has looked to be a serviceable player.
  8. Eddie signs with the Braves. It looks like he’ll have a major league roster spot.
  9. The Twins have earned the cynicism and skepticism heaped on them in this thread and most others on Twins Daily. They can win some people back with a good road trip to Cleveland and Boston, and get a lot of attention on them depending on what happens with the two winter pro teams in the playoffs. The feather in the cap for the Falvey years would be pitcher development, which has happened slowly, but where tangible progress has been made. The Twins don't get full credit for Ryan, but then again they traded for him (and López and SWR). Add in Ober (arrived and established) with Festa, Matthews and Morris on the cusp and that is a bigger stockpile than I can ever remember. Pitching is the key to sustained success and the Twins have more good young (in terms of years of service) pitching than just about anyone.
  10. A week or so ago, Lee was hitting .100 or close to it. Yeah, it's too early to declare he's anything but hitting decently right now. I think his ceiling is above average OBP, above average defense and average power. If he could do that and stay healthy that would make him very valuable, particularly as a switch hitter. All of these things are speculation at this point. He does have to hit to be valuable IMHO.
  11. Eddie's a free agent again. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/04/eddie-rosario-elects-free-agency.html Andrew Stevenson is going to try to get back to the majors in the US. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/04/rays-sign-andrew-stevenson-to-minor-league-contract.html
  12. McCusker, Keirsey, Eeles, and further down the road Andrew Stevenson. Finding late bloomers from the unaffiliated minor leagues is mostly futile. Once in a while somebody pops up, usually a pitcher. I'm pretty sure the Twins don't see McCusker as a legit prospect despite his power. If the injuries keep happening, we might find out, but I'm not holding my breath.
  13. The long-term plan probably should be written in pencil. Right now, the Twins have Julien, Lewis, Lee and Keaschall to fill second and third base long-term. Even using one of the guys at DH leaves a projected long-term starter on the bench. Somebody is going to have to play first base. I'd pick Lewis today for first base, with Keaschall at second and Lee at third, but a month (or maybe a week) from now that might not look like a very good plan. I didn't mention Miranda either and about ten months ago he looked like an All-Star hitter. I do know I'd like to see more speed and athleticism in the infield. Lee kind of makes up for lack of speed with other traits, as does Carlos Correa. Maybe Keaschall transitions to the outfield after his arm fully heals. An aside here, can he work on strengthening his throwing with a broken arm? I would guess not. I don't think the Twins should mess in-season with Lewis. Let him play third and DH and then assess his future in the off-season. Lee absolutely needs to establish that he can be average or better as a hitter before he is assigned a position of his own. Julien has looked better than last year, but hasn't hit enough to merit full-time and maybe even platoon usage.
  14. I agree that using Varland that often is not sustainable, although he managed a scoreless outing on the second day of a back-to-back. I would say he is the only one. 72 appearances is at the high end of usage for most guys and that is the number that would be projected for the next four guys. For varied reasons, all three of the top starters haven't been fully stretched out IMHO. López coming off the hammy strain, Ober slowed early by illness and Ryan returning from major injury and not used much in spring training. All three of these guys should be expected to usually pitch the sixth inning and often the seventh as the calendar turns to May, which should lessen the strain on the BP. So too would better offense. Five plus run leads would make it much easier to go with SWR, Paddack and minor league callups for an extra frame or two. I should knock on wood here, but Twins' pitching injuries right now are low. Tonkin is on the IL and there's not really a place for him unless the Twins decide to jettison Alcalá. Their injuries are all on the position player side with Keaschall the only one projected to be out more than two weeks from now. More injuries will come and most likely they will cluster in one position group, but so far pitching and in particular bullpen health hasn't been a problem.
  15. It will be interesting to see what Rocco does to replace Keaschall in the lineup given the options that remain. The eight starters against a right hander would be Catcher (2/3 Jeffers), France, Julien, Correa, Lee, Bader, Buxton and Larnach. That would leave one spot open. Keirsey Jr. could start on a corner with Larnach moving to DH, Gasper could start at second (Julien DH) or DH or it could be Clemens starting at second or DH. Finally, Bride has pretty severe reverse splits. He started today at third base, with Lee moving to second. That apparently would mean that if Bride and Lee are in the game together that Lee is the preferred second baseman while Bride would get third. I don't know if the scenario is the same for Clemens who has also played both second and third in the majors. Gasper has played more first base than any other position in the minors. Who would give France a day off at first? Gasper, Clemens or Bride? Bride's reverse splits really make it so that the pieces don't fit together well at this point. It would seem that all of Wallner, Castro and Lewis are at least a week away so the Twins really don't have much else for options.
  16. Eight-man BP allows two consecutive four reliever days. The only guy that has had an unsustainable workload would be Varland. If the team has 7-8 decent options, no one will be overworked. The problem is when only a couple guys are considered reliable. At this point, the only guy I definitely don’t want to see in a tight game is Alcalá.
  17. Pretty small sample size, but I think Lee is a good ballplayer, capable at third and second and acceptable as a backup at shortstop. However the pieces fit together in the future, I think Lee is part of the plan.
  18. There's a pretty big rash of injuries to infielders--second and third basemen--and I don't know if any team would thrive with so many guys out. Brooks Lee and Edouard Julien are getting a chance to show their value. I presume two of the three "bench guys" will eventually be optioned/DFA'd. Right now they are getting service time for limited roles.
  19. Niko Goodrum announced his retirement. Goodrum broke in with the Twins in 2017. He played for four other teams and signed minor league contracts with at least three more franchises.
  20. Maybe Luigi can actually hit in this league.
  21. Yes, they can get to double digits in scoring runs!
