  1. Did they make the mistake of playing against the Rockets? That could do it.
  2. I am getting the general impression tonight was a good night to have had other plans. I wish my other plans had lasted an hour longer.
  3. You have us potty much pegged.
  4. Was that consecutive?
  5. Aaron had only a so-so game against the Columbus Clippers on April 21. He completed a workmanlike 6 innings, facing one additional batter in the seventh, but he gave up 3 runs on 7 hits (no walks), and was on the hook for a loss until Rochester tied up the game in the 8th, on the way to an eventual 4-3 loss. He did notch 4 strikeouts. He was lifted after 85 pitches. Brief ex-Twin Adam Wilk was the starter for Columbus. Four of those base hits against Slegers were doubles (three by shortstop Yu Chang), and two of the doubles contributed to the scoring. Interestingly perhaps, all three tallies against him occurred with two out - the last was a sac fly, so maybe that's just semantics - and then each time, a strikeout followed to end the inning. Slightly different sequencing could have brought a different result. Luck or ability? That's baseball, you just don't know sometimes.
  6. After a long hiatus due to weather, Ben played on the 21st (as catcher) and 22nd (DH). His season batting average is still .321, but he's in a 1-for-11 slide at present. Maybe take a few walks, see if better pitches to hit become the result? Here's hoping he gets the bat going again.
  7. When did it get weird? After this, you mean?
  8. That may be how it goes in businesses that deal in necessities of life. I'm not sure entertainment business do (or can) operate along those lines whatsoever. Charge what the market will bear, bring expenses into line with that or else go under - that would seem to be the business model.
  9. I imagine they could find a way to persuade that team to relocate. True. I'm not sure whether that's an obstacle or an opportunity, though.
  10. My humble contribution: Castro, Grossman, and Morrison already have it going badly. #lowhangingfruit
  11. Yeah, that Tampa series #1'ed me off.
  12. "Your product placement checks are in the mail. Thanks."
  13. For extra credit, class, define the N-word and give three examples.
  14. My memory of my own reaction to the news: What I found instead as my contribution in this thread:
  15. I take it back. The additional playing time changes things. As of this morning, among position players with a seasonal BABIP higher than .750 (he's at .889), if his season ended right now, Ryan LaMarre would have the #1 quantity of plate appearances with 15, nosing out the aforementioned Bill Hall at 14. It's not the same record (BABIP threshold 1.000) as before, so I'm guilty of moving the goalposts, nevertheless Ryan currently holds an all-time top MLB spot at something. Woo hoo! OK, OK, this thread is Fun with numbers, not Torture. I'll stop now. (Too late, I know.)
  16. He grounded into a double play tonight, and no longer has a seasonal BABIP of 1.000: Ryan LaMarre, you are dead to me.
  17. You and me both. Hope no one spotted us leaving together.
  18. Moderator's note: So noted.
  19. The article implies but does not state clearly that the migraines never surfaced until that bad concussion. Ugh. That was 4 years ago. I hate it for him, I hate it for us.
  20. As expected. Also, the game went well.
  21. PS. We won. Woo hoo! Just as I turned off the tv set there were two men on base for the Indians, so I knew how it was going to come out, in advance. Guess I reverse jinxed 'em.
  22. Lindor's never going to marry them. Why buy the cow when you're getting the milk for free?
