  1. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g38147-d508680-r564962639-Northwestern_Steakhouse-Mason_City_Iowa.html "A popular place for greasy food. The steaks taste boiled and cooked on a griddle NOT charbroiled. Didn’t enjoy it at all. Very dry salty. Time to do something new and change the menu." Yum!
  2. Pfft. Tell that to the 2001 Seattle Mariners with their gaudy 116-46 record and all. Any serious sabrmetrician will gladly inform you that World Series rings are where it begins and ends.
  3. That is unfortunate, since Ben can't even legally buy a beer yet. (Buying beer is very important in the major leagues.)
  4. So you're saying if we don't bother fixing the last man in the bullpen, we'll have ourselves a lights-out reliever? I like your thinking.
  5. He went 1-3 yesterday, so that BA is up just a little bit further still. For those who want to keep up with Ben, his Adopt-A-Prospect page is expertly and entertainingly written by, well, modesty forbids me. Plenty more Twins prospects out there waiting to be adopted too! What. The. Bloody. Deuce?
  6. Nice TD article on Ben today: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/29604-article-rortvedts-mwl-encore-is-off-to-strong-start/ Ben got a single and came around to score a run in the 3-1 win over the Burlington Bees yesterday.
  7. Depends a little on the identity of the catcher.
  8. My recollection is that the starting rotation was thought to be deep and MLB-ready, but that was based on an expectation of Gonsalves and Littell who ended up in AA because the brass thinks they aren't.
  9. Did you see that Kansas City snapped up Adam Brett Walker II to play for them this season? On April 18, 2018, Walker signed with the Kansas City T-Bones of the independent American Association.
  10. I wouldn't call a 25th-man decision colossal whichever way it went, but it certainly looks complete. As others have noted, it's "first" only because LoMo came after.
  11. If I had the opportunity to interview either Falvey or Levine I would ask for a detailed recounting of their thought processes during the lead-up to the past two Rule 5 drafts. Both picks were complicated in their execution, and neither has turned out remotely worth the cost. At least last year, they had the #1 pick. This year, if they expected a guy to fall, that means they expected approximately 20 other teams to all judge he's not worth it. What in the world did they see in him (Kinley or someone else) - or what in the world would they expect any other player to offer by that point in the draft? Rule 5 is no longer a market inefficiency, except for the very saddest of sad-sack teams.
  12. As a team that was competitive last year, their spot in the Rule 5 draft is too low to expect to find anyone really compelling. This draft is not what it was, back when Johan Santana was snatched, with different rules. And with the requirement to keep such a player on the 25-man all year, versus the flexibility to option a guy if they had kept one of the ones they exposed to draft/waivers, the upside has to be all the much higher. All in all, Rule 5 is for the bottom feeders, which is something I was hoping we no longer were. And this guy isn't proving to be the exception.
  13. Loo-zah. See you next time.
  14. Finally, the Yankees show they are human too.
  15. LoMo got on base via an error in Puerto Rico. Twins scorer making the call. Guess what, the Twins appealed. The league upheld the call, though. IMO the scorers are pretty consistent league-wide. I'd prefer more errors be called, but it's not how it goes.

  17. Porgy and Bess? Careful there, sir.
  18. Or, they strike out. He did get 6 of those in 5 innings. That would suggest to me he's not without stuff.
  19. She's 86 and might be available, who knows.
  20. Sure, but he's no longer the DH, which is lost for the rest of the game.
  21. He was pacing himself in case the game went into extras.
  22. Did they make the mistake of playing against the Rockets? That could do it.
