  1. Odorizzi always looks as though suffering from an upper-respiratory ailment.
  2. That might not feel good, when the bat makes contact with the catcher's mitt like that - and then to add insult to (not really an) injury, Chirinos gets charged with an error. Ehire is really having himself a night.
  3. That 0-2 yakker to Cave was just unfair. Not really a strike but not the kind of pitch you dare to lay off, but not the kind of pitch you can likely do anything with if you do swing. Choose your poison, you're out either way.
  4. We have only a 3-man bench, so an extreme platoon situation is hard to do. They could use the lefty-hitting catcher, except his career numbers against Verlander are atrocious. I think it's fair to say that lefty-heavy is their approach to the game, modified with pragmatism.
  5. Tigers can thank the first-base umpire for that home run on a second chance.
  6. Wait, that's not the Antarctic Blue Super Sports Wagon with the C.B. and optional rally fun pack. Brian, isn't that what you told us you were getting? This looks like Metallic Pea.
  7. It could be nothing more complicated than the crack analytics team pulling up career records against Verlander, and Rocco going with whoever has had the most succ-... least failure against this stud pitcher. Well, never mind, nobody except Cruz has that much of a track record to base anything on. But, Analytics. I bet they analyzed stuff. And they went heavy on lefties (or switch hitters) against a good righty. Analytics. Except... Castro, lefty though he is, has a miserable 1-for-19 records against Verlander. He's the only exception. I believe. Analytics. It's a 3 man bench and the other two are righties. On the 40-man, Wade, Gordon and Arraez are all lefties but not in town at this time. Analytics.
  8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wK9odsWwfIo It's Homina Day!
  9. Them's the brakes. (This being homonym day...)
  10. If only the English language had some substitute word or phrase for the opposite of very bad.
  11. You can't spell MaRWIn without RBI, if you change the B to a W.
  12. That's all well and good, when playing bad teams like the Orioles. Good teams like the Astros have a bad habit of dictating where the game comes (and goes). Here's hoping he improves on his marks in Houston last week.
  13. So who's the driving force behind her presidential aspirations? Big Lutefisk?
  14. In light of Marwin's .173 BA, I have to echo renowned baseball analyst Clara Peller and ask, bacon, sure, but:
  15. Stew Thornley, who is one of the Twins' official scorers. I had him in mind when I hedged on the case when the runner is caught leaning.
