  1. Yeah, the first inning looked like it was a near thing, with Plouffe giving the ball a bit of a ride and Sano giving it a battle, but you don't let a guy like Price off the hook like that.

  3. OK, going out for a walk with my wife. In our pajamas of course. BRB.
  4. Recipe: Combine sour cream, mayonnaise, pajamas, and ranch dressing in a large bowl. Cover and refrigerate pajamas. When it's time for snacks, remove pajamas from refrigerator and throw it away. Go to the pajama store and buy a pajama bottle of pajama Pace medium pajama salsa. Serves 8 pajamas. Pajamas.

  6. Check out the post that started this thread. It's pretty good.

  8. I don't count as an in-house ranker (more of an outhouse ranker, I suspect), but before the season I put together a list of 30 guys I'll be watching this year, kind of a weasel way of doing rankings, and I put Vielma as the #9 position player, though for humor's sake I had left out Sano and Buxton so that means #11. That puts him somewhere at the edge of the top-20, though I didn't try to merge pitchers and hitters. In a strong system like the Twins', and with him being a shortstop who still needs to establish his hit tools (like 99% of SS prospects), that's really pretty favorable. I was intrigued by his chances, and his mid-season turnaround leaves me still intrigued. http://twinsdaily.com/blog/159/entry-6383-30-twins-prospects-ill-be-watching-in-2015/
  9. To do well in the primaries she has to satisfy those of us on the radical fringe.
  10. My vote will hinge on her views of the Carter Capps hop-step delivery.
  11. Good news, Sis: it's all downhill from here.
  12. Adam Jones. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/kansas-city-royals-alex-gordon-injury-carted-off-strained-left-groin-070815?vid=480625219629
  13. This would mean the message body should have been blank, so now I'm really confused.
  14. I am considering becoming a vegetarian, not because of some great love for animals, but because I hate vegetables.
  15. My wife phoned to say someone at work was looking to sell a couple of bleacher tickets at Fenway. So, mere hours later (well, 30 is "mere", no?), I was on the Worcester commuter train, getting off at Yawkey Station. Fun game versus the Marlins. Tied 1-1 for a long while, then the Sox starter Miley tired at around the 100-pitch mark and the score became 3-1 at the seventh inning stretch. But the home team came right back and loaded the bases against Cishek in relief of Haren, with a single, walk, and infield error, and (after LOOGY Dunn got what seemed a key strikeout) with two outs Xander Bogaerts fouled off several pitches from Carter "Not Matt" Capps before coming through with a single on a full count that cleared the bases for the 4-3 lead that turned out to be the final score. The eighth inning stretch (Sweet Caroline) is always fun, and with the Sox in the lead the mood was bubbly. Sandoval facing Haren: Kazoo, the Fenway fan: Mary and me:
  16. Not mentioned in this discussion is that for the past three seasons Achter has done well against right-handed batters but has done even better against lefties. I don't see a particular reason to call up a LOOGY like O'Rourke who is going to be limited to whatever lefties the opposing manager permits him to face, when someone with broader skills is equally available.
  17. Yes, this is why HR Derby contestants tell their hand-picked pitchers to lob it up there slowly, so they can get less distance on the ball.
  18. Why bring up a LOOGY when you have a righty in AAA who is doing well against RHB but even better against lefties? / spoiler: AJ Achter
  19. Well, it's too late in the evening for this transplated east-coaster. See you tomorrow.
  20. Even Nunez's helmet is faster than Sano. I agree about the risk of a lesser bat if it matters in the 11th. However pinch running for a rookie isn't quite the same as for an established slugger.
