  1. Strong bad, apparently.
  2. If it saves us from just one ugly beard, like the one above that Aaron Thompson apparently thinks he is rocking, then we all will benefit.
  3. Great Spring story. It's killing me that I didn't get to come down this year.
  4. Murphy's having a poor Spring at the plate. SSS and all, but I would have felt better if it weren't so. But then again I don't believe Centeno's spring numbers, so I guess I should ignore all of the numbers. Just like I tell myself each off-season.
  5. And even when I don't pick them, they burn me AGAIN by losing: I very much needed A&M to depart the tournament lest they cost me more points.
  6. Doesn't the sun come at you more from the 3B side, making it more of an issue when playing first than when at bat?
  7. From this article: Are there ironclad rules on who among non-players has access to the clubhouse and under what conditions? Within certain boundaries (access by the press, etc), I would think this subject was strictly a clubhouse matter, for the players to mainly to decide for themselves. To me it's a mark of how a manager "runs his clubhouse", for these kinds of disagreements to be worked out amicably. And if there's an impasse, eventually one or both players approaches a coach, the manager eventually is reeled in, and he figures out what needs to happen - in this case, by first checking with the front office for exactly what language is in the contract and what verbal commitments may have been also agreed to. For Ventura to consider speaking up against LaRoche, as implied above, it would mean not knowing information the front office could have provided. This sounds, to me, pretty weak by Ventura. And pretty brain-dead by Williams to directly inject the front office into this. Imagine Rob Antony, for example, getting mixed up in something like this. TK, Gardy, or Molitor surely would have politely told him to keep your ...well, darn nose out of my ...well, dadgum clubhouse. A long goshdarn time before anything hit the media. / edit - one more thought: If a manager starts to take (or not take) actions based on fear of losing his clubhouse..., dude, you've lost your clubhouse.
  8. I forgot to add that they burn me when I don't pick them.
  9. Apparently even electroshock does not cure The Heartbreak Of Unibrow.
  10. The. Challenge. Here. Is. To. NOT. Read. The. Above. In. Mitch. Hedberg's. Voice.
  11. Tyler Jay, listed in b-r.com as 6'1", looks small next to Henry Bonilla, listed at 6'0". I wonder if our first round pick went for a guy who will be referred to in newspaper articles as "the little lefty". Sorry, but I still can't find anything positive to say about picking him, and I'll probably continue to grouse until he's named to the all-star team a second time.
  12. I have picked N Iowa too many times as my sleeper over the years, and they always burn me.
  13. Never stops me! I am just disappointed that the University of Southern North Dakota at Hoople did not get a bid this year.
  14. I likewise need a good upset in the 11-12 seed range - the pool I take part in is not a full bracket but one or two good upset specials would be paramount. My anecdotal evidence is that colleges with a city name in them sometimes get the job done.
  15. The girls you dated in high school and college never clued you in, eh?
  16. This re-purposed thread has every potential of degenerating into a comprehensive YouTube catalog. But hey, it's only the Sports Bar. Fair warning to all users, any given video might contain language shocking to the tender sensibilities of the owners and admins of TD, use at your own risk.
  17. It's a free country. I altered the subject line.
  18. I do not expect anyone to be lost on waivers. Guys like Arcia will not bring back a lot, but if the team has decided to expose them to other teams, they will work out a trade first, bringing back a middling prospect in return. There's a need to clear out the chaff every year, and this year's chaff is at least intriguing for some other teams, I would think.
  19. "He keeps using that name. I do not think it means what he thinks it means."
  20. Making the rounds... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxoUUbMii7Q
  21. There are plenty of things we all like to discuss that in the big picture don't actually matter. http://www.ncaabracket.us/wp-content/themes/atahualpa/images/ncaa-bracket.jpg
  22. Your Simpson-fu is strong, grasshopper.
  23. Free Speech. I'm not sure what guarantees we actually have of that. The First Amendment bars the government from passing laws that abridge free speech or the right to peaceably assemble. I'm not sure what exactly in the Constitution says that the government is obliged to step in when one group abridges those rights of another group. Does a large group, say Trump supporters, have a right to meet without interference from another group, say Berners? That's a genuine question - I'd like to be clearer. But if the answer is no, I'm afraid it opens the door for quasi-government goons to operate.
  24. Molitor's quote about Polanco "guiding" the ball to first is discouraging. This is what I saw in him, last spring - he can get the distance, or the accuracy, but not both. I was hoping he could find some way to get over the hump. But it sounds to me as if he is just shy of having a shortstop's arm. A pity. I imagine he can have a career at 2B (for some team, maybe the Twins), but SS would be nicer.
