  1. There weren't enough free agents on the market to fix this team in one offseason. I'm not real happy about how things have played out, but if anything I don't think Ryan has gone far enough in trading away "limited resources". Also, I think you're overrating Revere.
  2. A couple things TK did differently in 1991 was that he a) allowed his pitchers to throw more than 100 pitches if they could, and he brought Aguilera in for saves in the 8th inning if it was a platoon advantage.
  3. Don't forget that the Twins always carry one position player who isn't available but isn't put on the DL either.
  4. After he was gone, I heard somewhere that Gardy and Rauch didn't get along so well. Probably stemming from the fact that Rauch was demoted from his job in favor of Proven Closer Matt Capps.\ Nobody's signed Cappy yet, by the way. There's your big BP addition.
  5. I liked it when Gardy was respectful of Rondell White's needs to keep himself mentally in the game by giving him a defensive position while playing a defensive specialist at DH. In the playoffs even.
  6. If the Twins weren't in love with any better free agent pitchers, and if they didn't have a chance to make a trade for more immediate rotation help, I could be a bit more forgiving if the extra $15-20 million they're sitting on was spent on some middle infield help. We'll never know for sure but my suspicion is that the word came down from the Pohlads to slash payroll again this year.
  7. I'm pretty sure that Gardy will get a 2 or 3 year contract after this season, regardless of how the team performs. Not giving him an extension this offseason is just a smokescreen to convince fans that the Twins really will hold their manager accountable. The 2013 Twins still look bad on paper and I don't think that's going to change a whole lot before the start of the season. If the Twins march to 95+ losses again, I'm sure we'll hear how Gardy just wasn't given enough to work with.
  8. If you replaced "gay" with "Mexican", I'd bet that MLB would immediately bring the hammer down on Hunter. Just speculation, though...
  9. Hunter's opinion on this is not unpopular.
  10. You should put high OBP guys everywhere in the lineup.
  11. Hmm... I seem to remember hearing that part of the reason Morneau has tended to cool off late in the season (even when not injured) is that he has a tendency to work too hard in the offseason.
  12. The Twins obviously have some money to spend. If the starting pitching market is too expensive for them, it would be nice to pick up a middle infielder or something else with the rest of that dough. Unless the ultimate goal is to slash payroll.
  13. LEN3 and the Twins are saying it wasn't a bad move. Also... I'm sorry if you're sick of hearing about Correia. Get used to it because he'll be here for a while.
  14. I like where LEN3 says that the Twins feel Correia was on his way to 190+ innings when the Pirates bumped him from the rotation. The Pirates. Bumped him. From their (the Pirates') rotation.
  15. We Minnesotans get our feelings hurt over this kind of unofficial popularity contest way too easily.
  16. Harden and Pelfrey are low-risk in that they're not expensive, but they're high-risk in that if they are both hurt (strong possibility) the Twins are left to patch together their rotation with the same cast of characters they trotted out last year.
  17. An out is an out. To a pitcher, some outs are better than others.
  18. He should probably just start the Twins' famous "Rest N Rehab" program immediately.
  19. For 2/14 they can have him. For 2/10 they can have Correia back, too.
  20. I would have gone with Timberwolves.
  21. How many people found this thread by Googling "Terry Ryan Sexiness?" Be honest.
  22. Yeah! Can't have enough back-end starters on major league contracts.
  23. Evidently we were watching a different guy.
