  1. I hope I'm wrong, but the TwinsCynic in me is seeing Rosario sent down to accomodate Hicks.
  2. Yeah... I really don't care. I guess I understand why the Twins organization might care because it has to do with their image, but just because the players aren't on the base line for the anthem doesn't mean they're too busy burning the flag. I once got scolded by a fan for not removing my cap during God Bless America. I politely explained that GBA is not the national anthem. Would I be required to remove my cap for Proud to be an American? I just think it's ridiculous how these things are interpreted as a slight against the USA.
  3. Goid writeup. One more name I would add is Aaron Thompson. He didn't make the team out of spring training but I think he's got a solid hold in his bullpen spot now. I always liked Herrmann. As a backup catcher he's a useful contributor. As a corner outfielder, the way Gardy used him, he's miscast.
  4. I don't think having Milone still in the rotation would be a bad thing, as long as the spot he takes is Nolasco's.
  5. I would like to see Plouffe get a contract to stick around and play third base a few more years. I'd love to have Sano's bat in the lineup, but I don't think he'll ever be as good defensively there as Plouffe is now. I think Sano is destined for first base anyway. Which means Mauer will have to play a corner outfield spot.
  6. I only wish the Butera thread was #6000.
  7. Mauer's next home run?
  8. After witnessing 13 years of Gardy's reign of terror, my oservation is that once a guy was anointed as the starter at a position they wouldn't move barring an emergency. I'm remembering Delmon Young entrenched in left field despite grading out better in right, and even when Cuddyer was primarily playing first base due to Morneau's injuries. I guess we'll never know, but it always seemed to me like Gardy liked having a guy play one position and only one position.
  9. I've only noticed two decisions Molitor made that I don't believe Gardy would have. One was bringing Perkins out in the eighth inning. The other was having Arcia play some right field. Overall it's not all that different, at least as far as game decisions go. How much of a difference it makes in the clubhouse I have no idea.
  10. If they call him up after rosters expand on Sept. 1, it would not burn an option. That said, I don't think the Twins should be all that concerned about Buxton's option since he'll very likely get an MLB contract before all his options are used up.
  11. Admittedly I didn't watch the game. I just like to take cheap shots.
  12. C'mon now, that's not fair. I mean, I remember a few times in big games when any fly ball would win it, the manager would go with a 5-infielder set and leave only two outfielders. A few of those instances must have been at least as bad.
  13. Yeah! We can finally see Meyer! Oh wait...
  14. I've never been a believer in Pelfrey, but I hope he continues pitching well. I also hope the Twins don't hesitate to trade him if the opportunity arises, because some space has got to be cleared out.
  15. These kinds of decisions make me think it was a mistake to put Mauer at first rather than the outfield. Sano would be a better fit at first than third.
  16. It comes from the assumption that Sano is a long term fit at third base, so if Plouffe is to stick around he will be forced off the position. Again, the Twins are far more likely to move Sano if they are both around. If they're both in the lineup, why put them in the worse defensive alignment? It would be like playing Rondell White in left field while Jason Tyner is the DH.
  17. My guess is Sano is moved off 3B and Plouffe is signed to a new contract to play there another three years or so.
  18. Actually I have seen him play a bit in person. His arm is good. I'm more concerned that he doesn't have the agility necessary to play an adequate third base.
  19. I don't believe that Plouffe will be forced out upon Sano's arrival. More likely, IMO, Plouffe will stick around at 3B and Sano will have a different position.
  20. You could move Mauer to a corner OF spot and accomplish the same thing- Vargas to 1B and either Arcia or Hunter to DH.
  21. I think my favorite James Paxton performance was in Aliens. "Game over, man! Game over!"
  22. Catcher's balk? Never heard of that one. From what McClelland said, nearly all pitch-outs and every intentional walk pitch should be called a balk.
  23. It could be, if it wasn't obvious that speeding up his delivery had nothing to do with trying to deceive Vargas.
  24. I must have missed the part where Guthrie's pitch was deceptive.
